  1. I found a seller on ebay that offers 50-80% treadlife matching sets of tires. He has at least 2-3 full sets of 235/55/19's at any given time for around 200-300 bucks. I just picked up a full set for $195 + free shipping on their "first day sale" promotions.. Can't beat that, even if I only get 25,000 out of them, I'm still coming out WAY cheaper than buying a set of Kumhos. If anyone is wanting to check them out, here's the link to their store: http://www.ebay.com/sch/tiresoutlet2012/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 I hope you guys can save as much money as I did :P
  2. I did a few of the changes myself, and they accepted the receipts I provided. It probably didn't hurt that I sent a copy of my Oil Logbook I keep for it showing the dates and mileage on each change. I log every bit of maintenance to all my cars, because my memory for such things is horrible I think from now on I'm also going to photograph the Odometer at each change, with the datestamp, just to prevent any possible future headaches. They really seemed to want ABSOLUTE PROOF of mileage for each change, which if you do it yourself is kind of difficult.
  3. We live in NH, but the dealership the car is at is in Mass. At first, they told us that Maxcare only covers 5 days of rental. It wasn't until after I raised a stink with Chrysler that they extended it 25 more days. The Car Rental place was calling us every day asking for updates, it was a headache.
  4. Yep, I talked to them again today. They were very reserved about replacing it under warranty. They wanted extra documentation from our Oil change place to prove the changes. After they dropped the oil pan, they found less than 1qt of oil left in the darned thing. The service tech couldn't believe that it could possibly NOT be owner neglect. After producing all required documentation, they couldn't say no to the replacement, so the Long block is on it's way. He did state it's a full long block, the only thing to be re-used is the intake and accessories. I'm going to make sure that the wife knows how to check her oil, and have her do it whenever she fills it with gas. I don't want to go through this headache again So far, it's been about 3 weeks since we dropped it off. Luckily Chrysler extended the rental coverage WELL beyond the 5 days that MaxCare offers, so we won't have any out-of pocket cost for this headache. After I complained that it was taking much more time than it should to get this thing back to us, they agreed. So, barring any surprises, we should have "Jenny" back in the driveway by early next week at the latest.
  5. Well, I can say with absolute certainty that my wife's RT has the same issue. It is currently in the service bay at a dealership 40 miles from our house with a locked up engine. It happened while the wife was on a road trip, she said she was getting on the interstate, she heard some clicking (obviously valve knock), and started to pull over, when the car just died. The service tech said that the dipstick was completely dry, and requested our oil change receipts. It had been about 3000 miles since the last change. I noticed earlier this year (around the time of the last change) that the oil was down at the bottom of the dipstick, but didn't think much of it at the time, as I was changing the oil. Luckily, we were able to provide all the receipts, so they ordered a new long block under warranty (we have the MaxCare). I'm going to make sure they check out the top end as well, to make sure nothing was damaged by the lack of oil. I'll be interested to find out what the final verdict is if they can find any reason for the disappearing oil.
  6. I'd like to thank my daughter Alyssa for bringing home this wonderful virus :) She's back to normal, but Emily and myself are both still quite sick. It's like a head cold, but toss in a fever for good measure, as well as the worst sinus pressure I think I've ever had. This is a wonderful way to spend my last few days at home :/ I just hope it clears up before I have to fly out, nothing worse than flying sick.

  7. My poor girls are sick. Alyssa has a 101-102 Fever, Emily is at 100. Motrin and crackers are a godsend.

  8. This is the first day of an excellent journey in my life. I have decided to quit my job, leave home in my new Firebird, grow a mullet and a beard, and travel around the country following Lynyrd Skynyrd. I was quite surprised when I found out they were still touring, so this catalyst has caused me to re-think my life. Wife and kids are invited, but I think they'll probably just stay home and live off my 401K and unemployment insurance payments :/

  9. Well, looks like I'm losing a week of vacation... Back to work next week, details to come as I find them out.

  10. The Firebird is home! A lovely 55 mile ride with no real issues to speak of. It's going to need a new set of tires, and maybe a carburetor rebuild in the future, but for now it's in pretty top shape. 3970 miles as I parked her tonight.

  11. I called the Police earlier from my car. I told them I had just been robbed at the local Mobil station. When they arrived, they asked me if I knew who did it. I said "Yes, Pump 6"

  12. Never though I'd look forward to a Monday.

  13. Just got off the phone with the dealership, I asked about the 16" steel wheels. I'm tired of having to pay 200+ per tire on these 19" Kumhos. The dealership said that they don't think they will fit the R/T AWD because of the caliper clearance, has anyone been able to shoehorn these things on? One way or another, these 19" rims have got to go, I can't take it anymore. 800 bucks every time we lose a tire is damned ridiculous. I'm pretty confident that 17" rims would fit easily, but I'd prefer the 16" steels if they can fit. If anyone is in New England, and wants to trade 17's for a set of the Brushed 19"s with worn out tires, let me know! I might even throw in some cash if the tires on the 17's are in good shape.
  14. Hello Journeyers. First post here. My Wife has a 2010 Journey R/T with the 19" Alloy wheels. So far, we've had to replace two tires from road hazards. Yesterday, we lost a 3rd. I'm tired of paying $200+ a tire, and now that the tires are mismatched, I'm afraid of issues with the AWD. I'm going to replace all four tires at the same time, but I'd like to get a smaller Wheel so that tires are less expensive in the future. And, as I foresee more popped tires in the future, and am trying to save my wallet a bit by planning ahead. The wife found a set of wheels that she likes, and I was researching the specs, they list the offset as 2mm, and I've read in a few threads people say the offset should be 35mm. My question is with a 2mm offset, would this cause rubbing issues, aesthetic problems, etc? Here are the wheels we're looking at: http://www.aewheel.com/wheels_detail_specs.cfm?id=356 (although, they would be the chrome/accented version, not the black) If these wheels won't work, does anyone else have any links to 16" wheels that are confirmed to fit? We live in New Hampshire, and would consider a direct trade for a set of 17" OE rims, if anyone wants a set of 19" Alloys, with 3 good tires, one has a small sidewall puncture, but holds air for a day or two. Thanks in advance for the help!
