  1. So, to start I picked up my 2011 Journey R/T abou8.4n t a week ago. I opted for the upgraded Alpine 8 speaker sound system, and the touch screen 8.4n head unit... First impressions for the sound system are decent... but lacking... I tried dropping my journey off at a local stereo shop yesterday with the intentions of adding an amp/sub in the rear and upgrading the speakers in the front and rear doors. An hour after leaving it, I received a call and was told to come pick it up as there was nothing that could be done on the journey because the "factory Alpine sound system runs on fiber optics, and there is nothing we can do to it" He went on to explain that changing the speakers on this system would change the impedence and could lead to a slew of problems. Today, not fully trusting what I heard yesterday... I tried playing dumb and dropping it at a shop on the other side of town. Started telling the guy what I wanted, and the first thing I was told was that if it had the touch screen unit they would not touch the car. GREAT! Spent the last hour looking online for info.... nothing.... Even been looking through Mopar.com for the option of doing some factory upgrades with chrysler products.... No parts available for Journey!? Anyone else running into these same issues?
  2. I found the grommet and ran the wires last week but I have been delayed by weather/work schedule and have not been able to complete it. Thought that it might just be easier for me to drop the car off on my way to work and have it professionally installed, however 2 local stereo shops have turned the job away saying that the 2011 with the 8.4n touch screen dash is "Fiber optic" and they were not willing to work in it?? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM?
  3. Hey guys, I ran a search and wasn't able to come up with any info on the 2011. I plan on installing a amp/sub in my 2011 Journey RT AWD this weekend and I am wondering if anyone has found an easy way to pass the power cable through the firewall? thanks in advance
  4. Can't speak for that, my journey did come with the 8.4n head unit but was missing the Uconnect optio For some reason even though it was one of our demands while choosing the vehicle. Sales guy said this one came with it... And it didn't.
  5. I just picked up my 11' RT early this week and I was having the same issues previously stated with my iPhone 4 and the nav unit only listing song titles... I ended up giving up on it and switching back to radio while leaving my iphone connected to charge during my drive home. Decided to give it one last shot later that night, plugged it in and it just worked and has so ever since without any problem. Artwork loads, and I am able to search through artist and album that way the unit was advertised. I should mention I have approx 6000 songs on my iPhone say maybe it just took a little while to load everything?
  6. I just picked up the same model (11' R/T w/Nav) and I can confirm that your iPhone 4 "SHOULD" work perfectly with your nav unit. Firt time I plugged it in I had to wait about 30 min before I was able to browse through Artist, album etc but since the initial load everything is AOK. Aside from the cable do you know anyone else with an iphone4 that you can try?
