  1. Damn!!!! They fixed it!!! Now it's being delivered on June 3rd.... Hopefully no delays.

Honestly, I don't know how much faith to put in this tracking system. My dealer told me delivery was scheduled for April 25th, which came and went. My Chevy lease went back to the dealer on that day.

Up until yesterday, the INSIGHT tracking website was saying May 03 - well I can live with that.

Check it today - the train is just to the south in ND...but now delivery is slated for May 12!!!

We're in the middle of a severe river flood, which affects the route...I wonder if that's a factor.

I need to call my dealer - May 12 without a car is really stretching it!

  2. Well at least you can track it now. I hope my R/T isn't on the same train now!! I'm going to try and get my VIN and check as well.

Got my VIN as well and checked it...not due in until May 3rd!

I'm happy to hear the incentive programs are changing before then - I have a feeling Chrysler will up the rebates or drop the interest rate to blow out the 11's...my dealer said they'd hold the current program if a newer one wasn't as good - but I think the opposite will be the case.

  3. I got my VIN# and was able to trace it. It’s somewhere on a Railcar Red Wing/MN and ETA April 29th in Edmonton Rail Yard. Delivery to dealer is scheduled for May 03rd. So, it will be close to 14 weeks. Looking at it the vehicle was scheduled to be built on March11th. That was almost 5 weeks after I had ordered it.

Thanks a lot for the web site address. I now know that I will not get it next week as they told us on Friday.

    Happy Easter!

Well at least you can track it now. I hope my R/T isn't on the same train now!! I'm going to try and get my VIN and check as well.

  4. Hi SuskGuy,

I was thinking too that the cars would come from Mexico by train. They told me the car was right now somewhere in Minnesota. They told me about three weeks ago that the care was ready for shipping.

    Thanks Mainmango,

I didn’t get my VIN# but will ask for it tomorrow.

Hi from Winnipeg. I believe I can help you out:

Ordered my R/T on Feb.4th and was told wait time is anywhere from 6-10 weeks. I am past the 10 week mark and was also told there was a shipping delay. I called a few days ago and was told mid-week the car was on the train and in Missouri. Delivery date is tentative April 25 which is Monday. Since you know your car is in Minnesota, I have a good hunch yours is on the same train as mine -the timing is right. I'm willing to bet yours show up on Tuesday or Wednesday!

  5. Well after just a few days shy of 12 weeks my 2011 Journey R/T arrived and I picked it up yesterday. IT HAS THE NEW STYLE BUMPERS front and back. I am so happy it came with the news ones, they look great! Old ones are nice but change is good. Inside is beautiful...what a change from the 2008 Avenger interior I had, was a nice car...but so placsticy inside. Also so everyone knows, all mentioned issues with the Blue tooth, voice command, and KMS/MPH settings are all corrected in mine. EVERYTHING works perfectly. Ride is smooth and so quite. WEhen I say quite I mean it, I honked the horn and thought it was broken, until I loward the window....LOL. Will post pics soon.

    Awesome, congrats! Let's see pics!!

  6. The way I drive, it wouldn't have been collectible for long anyways!!!!!! :shift:

Ha ha, yeah me too! Your post did get me thinking though...R/T's barely started showing up at dealers in January (first arrived at Winnipeg dealers very beginning of February) so they've only been available less than 12 weeks by my estimation...I wonder how many Canadian R/Ts were built??

  7. I dont think it sets it apart from anything. Really makes it look like the Torrent. I think what sets it apart is the awesome new features and interior (and engine!). Having owned both a 2010 and a 2011, thats the winner for me. Spend more time looking from the inside out then the outside in.

Also, mine didn't come with it, but as you can tell, it bothers me not!! :)

I have to agree with you. Although my Journey will probably show up with the new fascia - honestly its very similar to what other makes of crossovers are wearing - in fact, its pretty similar to the one hanging on my 2007 Chevy Equinox, as we speak. Other makes/models have similar renditions. To me, the refined drivetrain and the kick-ass interior is the hallmark of the '11 model.

  8. I think it is because some of the components that make up the R/T are not available ---there are a lot in the pipeline coming from Mexico but you cannot order one to be built----I think the 2012's are already being prepaired-------there are clearances of 2011 Dodge products underway in selected US markets

yeah, the more I think about this - I agree, the R/T is done for '11 and the nail in the coffin was the parts supply issue.

SaskGuy - as much as I'd like to agree it would be great if this could end up making our R/T's collectible - well I don't see it happening. The scheduled cut-off for ordering an '11 R/T to make it into the final days of the model production was already April 29th, so this is only moving up that schedule a mere 6 business days.

Having said that, man I sure am happy I ordered when I did!

  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the US version of the Canadian R/T is the LUX. It has misteriously vanished as well!!???!!!:fool:

Well, sort of but not really. R/T is three trim levels down from the top Lux model, in the US. Still an R/T but not as well equipped like its CDN counterpart. That's where the 'yes' comes in...the CDN R/T is loaded to the nines like a US Lux.

It's gotta be a website glitch - I can't imagine they've pulled the plug on the model they make the most money on. Then again, who knows...

  10. Test drove a different r/t at the dealership, and it appears the issue was with the first r/t we drove. This second r/t responded fine to throttle inputs in the highway setting. After this second test drive we decided we would go with the Journey. Unfortunately, the lack of availability of parts and paint pigments may prevent us from following through with your intention! I understand the uconnect 8.4 is not being used anymore due to a part no longer being available as a result of the Tsunami. I could live with the 4.3 if they knocked an amount off the price. But what I can't live with is mango tango, which is the only colour I am being told can be ordered anymore.

Anyone have any idea when they will have alternate colours in place?

I hear you on the mango paint - a little too flamboyant for most. Somebody here published an alternate paint list, but I don't think anyone knows a roll-out date. Should apply to both CDN and US markets since all Journey's are built in Mexico.

  11. I have a 2009 Journey. I recently drove a 2010 Explorer Eddie Bauer on a biz trip. I definitely think my Journey is better. I like the Ford's size and interior, but the engine was a guzzler and it didn't have any acceleration. Also, the brakes were not very good. I had to practically stand on the pedal to stop.

My Journey has better acceleration and the brakes are more sure. I was glad I had a Journey when I got home. Hope that helps!

In all fairness, the Explorer is not in the same segment as the Journey. An apples-to-apples comparision to Dodge would more appropriately be the Durango. And the 2011 Durango is SWEET!!! but the price is up there too, especially if you want the top trim Citadel.

  12. Another post got me thinking about what Dodge has done to the Journey R/T in the US market for 2011. In Canada, it's the top trim level/price class. This is consistent with the 40+ year heritage of the R/T which has always been the top trim & performance level for any model wearing the R/T moniker.

R/T was introduced in 1966 on the Coronet, and up until the end of the real muscle era in '71, R/T always meant premium trim and more importantly, top drivetrain and suspension performance. R/T disappeared for years but resurfaced in the 90's. But until recently, the performance aspect was sidelined and they marketed braking, suspension, appearance and interior upgrades for the R/T line. Only until they reintroduced the Hemi did they put R/T back in the true performance bracket (and subsequently, SRT).

So even the US 2010 Journey R/T was at the top of its echelon, but the 2011 model has it three trims (and thus equipment) below, behind Crew and Lux. I don't understand this, but I think it's a bit of a slap in the face to R/T heritage, especially when they've maintained status quo with the other current models (Charger, Challenger).

  13. Hi everyone,

Ordered 2011 R/T march 29th, dealer says it is scheduled to be built at the end of april. No vin# yet. don't no how long after that.

    any ideas or experience?

    Welcome!

Prepare to wait, my friend! I ordered my '11 R/T on Feb. 04 and while I don't know the build date, I believe it was at the very end of March or early April. It's in transit (expect 2-3 weeks...from Mexico) and still waiting. Dealer says by the end of this month. So a 10-12 week wait is likely.

Hopefully you'll squeak in getting the 8.4 but you better check with your dealer because they've pulled the plug on them and if you're waiting that long for a build date I think you might not get one.

  14. front wheel drive cars are a piece of cake to drive in the snow, the journey just plows through it like no other, awd is not necessary.

rwd is where its at, i recommend everyone drive a rwd car in the snow before they say anything about the journey, it's not easy and my charger is a prime example of that.

I bought a FWD V6 Equinox brand new in '07 and regretted, every day thereafter - not buying AWD.

AWD will outperform FWD and RWD any day there's water, snow, or ice on the road - guaranteed - it's straight physics. RWD is great if you're driving dry streets year round, but if you have icy roads 5-6 months of the year like we do- forget it! I've had my share of RWD cars I've driven in the winter - forget about power hook-ups. Furthermore late-model Traction Control is pretty much a joke in my books, I turn it off in my Equinox any day it's slippery because I can control the acceleration better than the computer, which does nothing more than apply the brakes and cut throttle when wheel spin occurs. The only benefit RWD provides on slippery roads is maintaining steering in absence of traction at the drive wheels.

RWD has its place in fair-weather performance cars. I have a '69 Dodge w/ 335 horse + 410 ft.lbs torque big-block 383 which I only drive in the summer - it's awesome. But I'd hate like hell to drive it in a winter setting, even with a posi rear end. Corollas would be passing me at every light.

  15. Hi,

I just got back from the dealer for a test Drive.

The salesman told me he received an email from Chrysler yesterday saying that the 8.4 Touchscreen will not be available on the next Journey 2011 orders (even for R/T model) they will replace it for the 4.3" screen. They said its because the supplier is in Japan and they cannot order pieces anymore. He also said that some colors would not be available ford order.

Anybody else heard that, have some more details???

I was hoping to order mine in the next couple weeks, but without the 8.4" screen that changes EVERYTHING!!! :(

    Thanks

Ouch, quite a blow to the Journey IMO. This is one of the things where Dodge really had blown the competition out of the water, Chevy has nothing that somes close, nor most of the other rivals. The 8.4 is a unit that you'd expect in a high-end automobile and is very sharp both in appearance and operation. The 4.3 is kinda ho-hum once you've seen that gigantic 8.4!

Well, all I can say is I'm glad I ordered when I did. I'm expecting my R/T within a week now, and although I know what I ordered I'm still not 100% sure what I'll end up seeing on pick-up day. The new fascia might be hanging on it, or not. And the elusive bluetooth, well we all know about that story!

  16. Did anyone notice that they changed the name of the "Uconnect 8.4n" to "Radio: Garmin Navigation" on the Dodge.ca website when building a journey????? !!!!!

I guess they realize that they made a mistake....

Now to see how well they stand behind their mistake.

If it weren't for one knowlegeable salesman, I wouldnt have ordered it either.

No matter, I've got this stacked against them. 1) online vehicle build sheet is showing "wireless connectivity" and 2) sales brochure says "Uconnect voice command and bluetooth" when ordering 8.4N. I'm going to demand it's installed if it shows up without it! I don't think the dealership will risk me walking out over a $300 add-on (knowing their cost is actually less). And they can pin it on Chrysler as well, IMO.

  17. The story is a lot of dealers ordered the 8.4" screen thinking the connect was part of it but it's not. Lots of people were complaining that it wasn't there but the dealers didn't know you had to take the u connect portion at 300$ to have the voice commands and Bluetooth

I'm pretty cheesed off about this (along with many other people). My Journey's not in yet, but I ordered the $750 NAV add-on to the 8.4, thinking I'd be getting bluetooth and voice command because that's included in the 8.4N spec in the sales brochure. The online spec for my ordered car says "wireless connectivity" is included, but I have this lousy feeling there will be no VC or Bluetooth when it arrives. And that's when I'll be calling the Chrysler Customer Care Line!!

  18. Hey, new to the forum in that just brought home a 2011 journy rt. Love it by the way!!!!! we were just wondering if anyone out there had info on the integrated child boosters. its listed as standard for our model, but is not there. wondering if it is not approved for canadian models. thanks for any info.

They're not listed on the Canadian Dodge website, but they are in the Canada Sales Brochure. Also I believe some CDN members have them.

I would have ordered them for my R/T but in Feb. the sales brochure was not available and the options list on the website is really lacking accurate information including options.

  19. When I was ordering accessories from my dealer he said the "slush" mats did not show up in his list of parts for my 2011. I'm not sure if it is just a color difference or a shape difference. Many of the "jobber" brands show for 2009-2011 Journey in their application guides, but sometimes they haven't researched the fit very well.

The accessory that has me worried is the hitch. With the changes to the rear fascia, the cutout for the hitch will be different!

    I guess time will tell.

The mopar rear cargo tray is the same for '11 pretty sure. Go on the dodge.com (US) website to Owners and you can access the US 2011 Accessories catalog online and get the part numbers. I took those part numbers to my dealer and he checked prices to buy up here - some were very competetive, although they give me a 20% discount over retail.

  20. I did the same too ... Went to 15 different dealer sites around the metro Detroit area and none of them had the buttons on the steering wheel. I think it is a big blunder on the mfg's part. The big question is will the release the module and button as an add on. Plus I am sure you will need to update the software on the 8.4.

Are there any parts guys out there that can call chiseler and get a good answer as too when?

Well that's crappy, if mine doesn't show up with it, I'll definitely make a fuss and let Chrysler know I'm not happy!

  21. The Canada Sales brochure says voice command w/ bluetooth comes standard with the 8.4N (Nav ADD-ON)...it should, being the top of the line media centre/radio system.

I ordered my '11 R/T with the 8.4N...I'll let you know what I find when its delivered within the next 2 weeks.

However I did just check the spec list for my car, which is on the dealer inventory website, and under Options it does say 'wireless connectivity'.

I wouldn't trust what the dodge.ca website says...its full of errors and discrepancies, including the 'Build & Price' section. I don't think they've got it set up to recognize that if you add the Nav option, you don't need to click on the $300 Voice command package as well because the bluetooth is already included with Nav. I think that $300 option is there for people who don't pony up for Nav.

  22. Welcome!

I have a white 2011 Crew that I picked up on March 1st. Loving it!

    1. No - the USB port is now inside the centre console storage bin. Much better place for it! I leave my USB cable plugged in and routed outside the front of the centre console cover so that I can quickly plug my iPhone in at any time.

    2. Sadly, no heated/cooled cup holders.

    3. Backup camera is not standard on any model in Canada. How you get it depends on which trim level you choose and which option package you chose within that trim level. On the R/T, you need to add the Driver Convenience Group to get the camera.

    4. Yes, you can play DVDs on the 8.4" touchscreen but only while parked.

One other bit of info - if you want to have Bluetooth in the R/T for your cell phone, you need to also add the $300 Uconnect Voice Command w/Bluetooth option. Bluetooth does not come standard on any model in Canada.

    Hope this helps!

There's alot of confusion about what equipment gets you the Bluetooth. The dodge.ca website says it's extra. However I just picked up the newly-available 2011 Journey sales brochure (very nice brochure by the way) and on the Uconnect page it says that if you order the 8.4N Uconnect which is the 8.4 media system with extra-cost navigation ($750) then it also includes the Uconnect voice package w/ Bluetooth.

My R/T is coming in within 2-3 weeks so I guess I'll find out if that's true or not (I ponied up for the 8.4N).
