  1. Hello, I have a 2010 Dodge Journey SXT. We bought it used . It has a squealing noise coming from the passenger side of engine when idling. Just came back from the dealer that changed the belt. Problem still here. I was wondering if it's coming from the belt tensioner or other belt driven accessory? Thanks.

I have a 2009 w/21K At 14K heard the squeal reported it twice, dealer couldn't find. Finally diagnosed and water pump replaced at 17K----only the tip of the iceberg with this vehicle but just to share...

  2. I purchased a 2009 Journey R/T used with 6500 miles on it. I really really want to love this car because I have purchased it and am pretty much stuck with it. I love how it drives, I love the features it has, I love the family friendly options, I love look and feel of it, I love the hi-tech entertainment system, etc.

However, it has fallen victim to man of the things I have read about on line and it's bumming me out.

new pads and rotors at 9900 miles

rocker assemblies worn and replaced at 9900 miles

    power window stopped function correctly

weird electrical problems with dash lights turning off when wipers are turned off

I too hear the grinding/whining sound when turning left - not sure what it is, but, it doesn't bother me that much assuming it isn't some major problem.

I am a little freaked out at the thought of having ongoing brake issues and engine issues this early in the game.

I hope hope hope I don't have further issues,or if I do, I hope it is within my warranty period.

Sad, because, I really do love the car.

same boat! Love the car but...

new pads and rotors front at under 12k-need to do again at 21K AND need rear

    lifters replaced under 12K

water pump replaced just after lifters

pass window froze part way down or up-had to replace motor in window-need to do again at 21K

in multiple times for check engine light

  3. Well, since my girlfriend was in an accident serious enough to write off both cars involved and she came out with out a scratch (face first in an airbag even), I think its pretty safe to call the Journey a safe car. That is pretty much the reason why we bought another one. The ongoing brake problem can apparently be solved by moving to higher quality after market rotors (slotted / drilled) and ceramic pads. There are several posts on the forum about where to get these kits and you should be able to get a local garage to install them. Good luck! :)

I understand there are more expensive pads and rotors, but why should we all be suffering because of Dodge's shortcomngs? Why should we have to pay privately? The quality of the brakes is sub standard-Dodge should be addressing THAT! Mine were replaced at under 12K and now at 21 need to be relaced again, as do my rear brakes.

  4. How dod everyone find out about the extended brake warranty? I never received a letter and if you search for Dodge 2009 Journey bulletins, it does not appear. i found out only as a chanve and I am furious! Had to replace front rotors and pads at 11,000 miles under warranty. 2 months ago noticed a problem again-didn't have the cas (assuming they were not covered) so parked the car and have been carpooling and driving an older car. Called the dealer to ask if by chanc they would be covered still since it was under a year since they were replaced---only AFTER I said when will Dodge acknowlege the problem or HAVE tey acknowledged it, was I told about the "bulletin". Problem is, just found this out, have 21K on car, but my 24 months is Wed! So now, rather than the 50.00 I should be paying, had they sent me a letter and I had gotten it repaired in Jan, I have to pay 100.00 because I will be a day or 2 past. Oh, and did I mention I alo need REAR rotors at 21K????? hmmm, and at under 12k, lifters replaced, water pump replaced, check engine light module and a whole bnch or related because check engine keeps coming on, replaced pass window motor (broken again), replaced 2 front visors, leak in 19" tires....and on and on!
