  1. I am going to change out my tires in the next month or two on my 2010 Dodge Journey R/T AWD, the Kumho's will have approximately 42000-44000 km and would probably go another 10,000-15,000 kms, but I want new tires for the winter season. Not the best mileage but reasonable for an OEM tire where they seem to strive for ride as opposed to mileage.

I am going to replace them with Michelins 235/55/19, the 225/55/19 size is still causing a bit of a concern, pricing and availability on this size is still way "out to lunch". As has been said numerous times Chrysler has endorsed this size.

    Terry

Hope you have better luck then I did, I tried a set of Michelin 235's from Costco, they didn't fit correctly and i have to have my old tires put back on

  2. Hey All,

Thought I'd post this as an FYI to anyone who maybe looking for new tires. I went to my local costco looking to replace the Kumho tires that came on my 2011 crew as they are almost worn right out. Costco like many other places don't carry the 225/55/19 tires. They put my journey into the system and it reported back a set of Michelins at 235/55/19 would fit onto the truck. They ordered them in, put them on, they looked nice, but when i tried to pull away, i heard a rubbing noise coming from the front of the truck. When we checked, the replacement tire was rubbing on a metal plate that is under the front suspension spring. it was sitting right on it, no give at all. they had to put my old tires back on, and i went to my dealer and they have a set of good year tires that are 225/55/19 that will be installed this weekend.

  3. While not the best, they did ok for me. My 2011 Crew has 75,000km on it now, 54,000 with the Kumho's that came on it, the rest on my winter tires, and I am just replacing them now with a set of Michelin Latitude Tour HP's from Costco (they have a deal on btw right now) 235/55/19.

They were fine in the rain, but not even one winter on them and I was off to buy a set of 17' winters and rims to go on.

  4. DodgCACares,

drozz has a 2011 Crew like me. I confirmed with Chrysler long ago that the 2011's do not have voice command of music playback. I was told that the necessary hardware was not in the 2011's and this functionality only started working with the 2012's. The real piss-off in all this is that the owner's manual lists all of the commands for controlling music playback but NONE of them work.

I kind of feel lied to on this as well, as the sales rep told us that this was a feature in the Journey back when we were looking. It hasn't been a big issue but now that i have a new born in the Journey, I'd rather my eyes be on the road, not having to look down at the touch screen to change songs or browe my podcast listings. Not only does the owner manual as drb227 says list the commands, i went onto the uconnect website for my model year and printed off the voice command list, NO WHERE does it say that these feature are not in the 2011s. Not a single command for playing/changing songs work (be it Ipod or even a CD). About all i can do is change from channel to channel, or from sat radio to FM/AM etc.

  5. I was wondering if anyone has ever been able to use the built in voice commands to play songs from an ipod/iphone? I've tried all the commands in the manual, and off the uconnect support site, and I've never been able to play an song/artist or podcast at all. I can change between channels and inputs, but thats about it. What's the point of having this feature listed (with the commands) when I have to end up taking my eyes off driving to use the touch screen.

  6. Assuming I can get the right rim (so far only actually tested fitted a few at CT) the avg price for brand name tires and 17' steels are around 1100-1200 with the Costco quote lower still, and they all prices mentioned included the balancing and taxes. If you haven't already made the purchase, you might want to try and knock them down a little. Rim price shouldn't be more than 89.99+tax a piece, you can find good brand name winter tires quite easy for less than 200+tax each, balancing is quite cheap, and installation is usually free when you buy the tires and have them installed from the same place.

Also, the link you provided is for 225/55/17. The correct size is 225/65/17.

    The break down was:

    4 225/65R17 TBC Atric Claw TXI 102T $859.28

    4 Wheel Blanace $ 92

    Valve Stem $13.80

    4 17 steel rims 319.96

    Tire Collection fee 23.96

    Total with tax $1478

    Includes:

    Free install

Free rotation (includes taking the winters off and putting the 19's back on)

    Lifetime balancing

    Free Flat Repairs

Here is a pic of the tire and rim:

  7. Decent enough plan as long as the rims fit correctly. I'd personally have to try a test fit of even just one rim to make sure, so as to avoid potential hassle in down the line. I've just been burned by more than a few shops (retail, auto, etc....) when I took their word for it and then had to fight to get it corrected. So now I just try to cover myself as much as possible and never trust anything I'm told by someone wearing a name tag or trying to sell me something.

Is that a price for alloy rims? What tires did you get? My quotes are averaging around $1100 for winters and steels. Alloys with winters and TPMS shipped to Ottawa from Tirerack.com just over $1700 (and that includes the duties and brokerage fees). I just don't want to take a chance unless I'm sure the rim will clear the calipers.

These are the tires they offered:

    https://shop.kaltire.com/tiresdetails1/tireid/91/

17' Steel rims, price includes 4 wheel balance, no TPMS, I'll deal with the warning light for the winter LOL

  8. Many times they will not even look if the customer is not indicating anything is wrong with the vehicle. If you did indicate to them that something was wrong with the vehicle then by all means they should have checked for a solution sooner.

I know I did complain about the EVIC issue early in the year, but meh, no biggie, its fixed now :)

  9. Ok so the two items where:

    #11-078

which is what Dodge care listed below, side note, my Journey no longer defaults to MPH!! Happy Dance.

    OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves flash reprogramming Body Control Module with new software.

    MODELS:

    2011 (JC) Journey

    2011 (LD) Charger

    2011 (LX) 300

NOTE: This bulletin applies to JC vehicles built before July 2, 2011 (MDH 0702XX), and LD, LX vehicles built before June 29, 2011 (MDH 0629XX).

    NUMBER: 08-016-11 REV. C

    GROUP: Electrical

    DATE: August 30, 2011

    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The service flash corrects the following conditions:

    · No start, or drained battery, due to the BCM keeping the vehicle communication bus awake.

    · Diagnostic Trouble Codes: B1606-95, B16AF-15, B16B3-15, B1632-15, and B1636-15

    · Trunk Lamps turn off after 30 seconds on the first time out delay after the ignition is cycled to OFF (A reduced time out delay after the first time out is normal behavior. The ignition must be cycled before a full ten minute delay may be observed again).

    · Passive Entry response time seems slow. User will typically complain of having to pull the handle twice to get it to work.

    · The trunk release button does not work while the doors are locked.

NOTE: This software also includes behavior modification to police vehicle only wig wag behavior.

which reads: updated instrument cluster with latest software

During my oil change I also had the Fuel Induction service done as I was advised it should have been done at 30k and we are at 50k now.

Right off the bat, I noticed that the hard shift from 2nd to 3rd wasn't there anymore, and I also notice that the RPM's seem higher now when speeding up from a dead stop

  10. Took my 2011 Journey in for service this morning, oil change and to look at a issue with the drivers seat feeling loose, the service rep advised me that 2-3 flash updates are out for my Journey as well. I'll post what they were when I get it back, but one was for the language on the backup camera view??? Odd problem which I've never had heh

  11. oh sorry i forgot to post back! :)

So it turns out, this is the Journeys way of saying it has a problem with the firmware, go figure LOL. I told the service manager, that is a pretty dumb way to warn people, as in my case, i thought there was something really wrong and had to go back home to get our other car. He told me that if it starts flashing to be worried, but if it just comes on solid its normaly ok.... Anyways, they flashed the firmware and the error went away (as well as my presets for my

    Satellite radio) :(
