  1. Still not fixed, but had to take a break for a few days to meditate on the Serinity Prayer or my sanity would have tipped right over the edge. Where I'm at after a drive this evening... 82-86 outdoor temp during the drive. Drove 7 miles (about 12 minutes) with front and rear heat on with blower set to low, and the temp rose to 192. Parked and left idling for ten minutes and made it to 219. Drove another 15 minutes and it fluctuated from 219-230 with the upper end being @ 60 mph and traversing hilly areas, so all good to this point. At this point I think why not try out the A/C. Temp now at 230 when the vehicle isn't under load on the hills, but rises when I do hit said hills, two of which are long and fairly steep (roughly a mile). Going up them @ 50-60 mph the temp rises quickly to 250, but falls after I crest the first. Second, is slightly longer and upper 250's, so I pull off to check fan and bottle and shut the A/C off. No boiling, and fan is working on high, so temp is falling quickly and bottoms at 221 in just a couple of minutes. On the road again with heat on and top temp doesn't quite reach 250 running the opposite side of hills, but heat is cool rather than hot. On the final stretch to the house temp is now 230, so A/C is turned back on again, is the longest hill that stretches about 3 miles. A/C on was a bad idea... about two miles and it's rising quickly and at 255 I pull over, switch to heat, and it stops rising at 258. Sit for a few minutes and down to 230, but heat is still blowing cold. At this point head out for last two miles and the temp rise to 258, so put it in neutral and coast and temp tops out at 262 and then falls over the next half mile, so back in gear an pull in drive and get to the house and park it on ramps and leave it at idle over the next 30 minutes it drops to 224-231 w/heat on (still blowing cold) and with A/C on top temp was 239. Still, fan is working as expected and no loss of coolant. Additional thoughts?
  2. No milkyness to the oil. As far as how long it takes to get... if parked and in the drive, it's not overheating. Get it out on the road it will hit the 240-250 range in 10 minutes or so if under moderate load. If headed up a large incline it will push that temp to 260 and beyond pretty quickly. Regarding an additional test, I've got to pick up a bottle of fluid and will post when done.
  3. Fan does kick on and off within that range while sitting in the drive and when in a state of overheating it has definitely kicked into high. It was replaced because the water existing fan did not feel like it was moving completely freely and just felt and sounded as if it were dragging when turned manually. Top hose is hot and rock hard when the thermostat opens at about 202-203 degrees. All wires are intact and grounds are solid. &nbsp I’m certainly not pushing my luck in an effort to avoid damaging the heads.
  4. My best estimate is that it's boiling at approximately 260-265 degrees. I don't like to tempt fate, so each time it has done so we've parked it and sought out a solution to the problem (code for: throwing parts at the problem). At least that's the temp where it starts pushing coolant out of the bottle overflow.

  6. First post here, so forgive me if my approach is inconsistent with how things are done here. I know that this topic has been addressed in pieces by previous poster, but I've been told to start a fresh post with my issue on most forums. The issue 2019 Dodge Journey GT, 3.6 V6, AWD, front & rear heat/air, and 105,000 miles that is experiencing extreme overheating issues. To this point never an issue and regular maintenance schedule has been followed. Where did it begin? Vehicle overheated and the shop found a crack in the housing that was allowing air in the system. The shop replaced the housing and thermostat and all was good for 150 miles. My assumption is they missed an air pocket. Back to the shop and the thermostat replaced again. Same issue.... Block test was negative.... At this point were just throwing parts at the problem. Fuses and relays are good. We've replaced the fan resistor, thermostat, radiator(bottle) cap, water pump, radiator, fan. Most of which I assume didn't need replaced, but at over 100k I'm not that upset that those have been changed, but the overheating has to stop. It has been vacuum bleed and filled and still over heating. I assume that there is still air in the system and that it somehow relates to the dual heat/air system. My understanding is that these dual systems are a real bear to get purged properly. Hoping someone can offer some insight
  7. Thanks for welcoming me to the board! I'm the owner of a 2019 Dodge Journey GT (wife's vehicle) with 104,000 miles that resides in NE Oklahoma. It's been a great vehicle until now... Hoping this community can provide some answers and good conversation. Let's get started!
