Yes there's a wire that goes up into a larger harness and I don't know after that. As far as removing the button, that was on advice of a doge service center.

I don't know if it is some after market accessory for trailer or garage door. Dodge didn't know either

Here is a pic of it installed. You can see the gas pedal just below it.

I have just removed a button 2019 journey SE. I have no clue of its purpose but I've read some other vehicles have it too. See picture
