Yeah it is. If it was mechanical that would be different. I just am not very experience with the electrical systems of these newer vehicles. It may be more expensive to fix than I’m willing to put into it.

My 2014 SE died Saturday night. We were driving home and stopped at a light. When the light changed the car wouldn’t move, the engine started surging, then we heard crackling like an electrical arc so we turned it off and smoke started pouring out from under the hood. Now the engine compartment smells like burnt electrical parts. All lights work in the car but nothing else. I’m not an electrical expert so I have no idea where to start looking on this. Anyone have any suggestions? The power distribution box and the other part circled smell burnt.

Right now the odometer shows 148,133 miles. Three weeks ago I changed the oil and was at 137, 439 miles. We bought it new July 31, 2014, it shows the 148,133 and I still have the original brake pads on it and they still have about 25% - 30% pad left on them.
-
It also jumps mileage. Sometimes I can park it, and the next time I drive it the odometer will show more mileage than when I parked it. So far the largest mileage jump has been a little over 30,000 miles and the dealership keeps saying that it wouldn’t do that and that I must be driving more than I realize.

Several things really. Warning lights randomly coming on and going off, intermittent rough idle, all lights will go out for a second then come back on, occasional lack of power, transmission will randomly jump like you’ve put it in neutral then back into drive while keeping the rpms high. I’ve replaced the alternator, battery, and done a tune up on it with no change. Sometimes it does all of this daily and sometimes it doesn’t do it for weeks.

Neither did I until I was researching it. It’s a good bit of information. It makes sense though as I seem to be having ECU issues recently. Guess I’m going to have to break down and take it somewhere to see if I can get the ECU flashed or if I’m going to have to replace it.

This is what I’ve been able to find on https://www.ateq-tpms.com/en-us/article/diagnostic-information-dodge-journey/

I couldn’t find it either. Apparently from what I have been able to find is that these ones work off of a wireless signal And the antenna is built into the tpms module.
-
Where is the antenna located? It’s my wife’s car and she is out of town until Saturday so I will have to check it when she gets back.
-
Thank you. I will replace the module and hopefully not have to replace anything else.

I have a 2014 SE and the right front sensor isn’t reading. I’ve rotated the tires and it doesn’t matter which one I put on there, it still won’t read. I’ve never had a vehicle with a tpms system so this is a new problem for me. Any ideas on why the right front won’t show anything other than — no matter which wheel gets put there? They all display the tire psi in any other location.

The originals are generally better, but I have had good luck with some of the reman parts. This is my wife's car so I usually make sure I buy the better quality parts. My next project will be my Xterra. I let my son take it to his grandmother's the other day and it overheated on him and blew the head gasket.

The left CV seems to be fine but it wouldn't hurt to change it.
-
Not hard to replace. I'm going to replace the CV shaft at the same time just to be safe.
-
Unfortunately because of the way it's made you can't replace just the bearing. After talking to the dealership the only other models that have the same part are the 2008 avenger and 200, but only if they are the 2.4 AWD models.
-
Yes I found it myself. For some reason it's a dealer only item for the 2.4 and it's $317. I found a used one on a journey that only has 16k miles on it for $90. I found it after the shaking got a lot worse and found the bearing had blown out completely.

My 2014 SE has started having electrical issues. When driving everything electric shuts off like the battery is dead. The car will still be running, but all dash and exterior lights, radio, climate control, everything goes out for a few seconds then comes back on. Only does it while driving. Also the odometer jumps mileage. I have replaced the battery and alternator and the problem is still there.

I found the problem. The half shaft support bearing is bad. Unfortunately it's a DOI, so triple the price.

It's definitely worth checking. I drove it for 7 hours today and this is the 2nd or 3rd day with it shaking. Usually it only lasts a day at most. Today I noticed the shaking is the worst from 30-60mph and it seems to start going away when turning left.
-
I had it scanned today. No codes found. The only other real issue I have with it is that it jumps mileage. One time the car wasn't driven for a month and the next time I got in and started it, the odometer showed over 10,000 more miles than when I parked it.
-
Thanks. I checked front and rear...found nothing. I think I might have to give in and take it to a shop.
-
I haven't checked the engine mounts, but I will check them tomorrow. It will drive perfectly for a month or so and then just shake like it's about to fall a part for a day, then won't do it again for a month or so.
-
It only shakes when driving and happens at any speed. It does get worse the faster I go, but it doesn't do it all the time. I might be able to drive it a month without it shaking and then it will start shaking again. It might do it for àn hour or a day then the shaking goes away and might not do it again for another month.

I posted this in Brake, Chassis & suspension as well. I have a 2014 Journey SE, 2.4L, Auto, with roughly 135,000 miles. It has started shaking really bad, but doesn't do it all the time. It may shake for a day and then not do it again for weeks. I've checked bearings, tie rod ends, a frames, struts, all the things I can think of that might normally cause the issue. Engine runs smoothly even when it shakes. I'm scratching my head on this one. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.
