  1. After doing a little reading, I realized some of the Dodge Journeys have a "hard" switch - mine had the 8.4 screen, so it only had the "soft" switch. So, that leaves me unsure of where to go to try and bypass the switch. If there is a schematic or video somewhere I could watch, that would help a lot.
  2. Both great ideas guys. I WOULD like to have the original equipment working if I could - it's probably an OCD thing on my part. Any idea where the actual switch to the rear panel is? I could definitely do the inline fuse thing if I could get to where the switch would be. Otherwise, a stand alone inverter is an option, but once again, I would love to have the original plug working if it's reasonably possible. Thanks for the responses.
  3. The head unit in my 2013 Journey SXT was beginning to fail, so rather than shell out a lot of money on one of the few used OEM units I have seen available, I got an Android unit, and while it as a whole has been a great upgrade to the OEM unit, I have not found a way to turn on my power inverter. Do any of you know a way to turn on the power inverter, and keep it turned on without using the OEM head unit? If not - if I were to temporarily hook up my OEM head unit, and get it working long enough to turn on the power inverter, and then disconnect it, would the inverter stay on by default at that point? If I have to essentially lose the inverter by default, I'll just have to deal with it - having a solid Android unit that does everything else fine is a big enough plus for me to do so, but it would definitely be a huge plus to have access to that power plug. Thanks for any help you guys can offer!
  4. So, I finally picked up my 2013 Journey SXT from the used car dealer, and I'm finding that the phone menu doesn't work at all - it says something to the effect of the hands free system is loading. If I go to settings first, and then tap on "phone", it doesn't do anything. I was able to get into the Dealer Menu by holding the driver side hot and cold buttons simultaneously with I believe it was the front defrost, but nothing there helps me. I have seen references to an Engineering Menu, and supposedly holding just the hot and cold buttons simultaneously will open it, but it hasn't for me. Is there something else I should try? It would be nice to be able to pair my phone with the vehicle. Mine has the 8.4" screen, I believe it is the non-nav one.
  5. Hi gang - I am purchasing a 2013 Journey SXT - I won't have it in my possession for a few days, but I'm eager to start planning stuff out. I would like to eventually update the audio. I have a system that I would like to move over from my previous car - my understanding is that to make the audio signal play nice with my amplifier, I would need to get a PAC Audio AmPro 4 to decode the CAN-BUS signal - is that right? From there, the speakers I have are 6.5" but I don't expect it to be a problem to put those in with a 6x9 adaptor. As I understand it, there is also an 8" subwoofer in one of the sidewalls - how hard is that to get at, and how easily replaceable is it with another 8, or perhaps a larger subwoofer? The other side just has an empty space - would it take a subwoofer thrown into it too, assuming the wiring was done?
