  1. I have you all beat! My P.O.S journey has had to have the rotors replaced every 4,000 miles! The shaking steering wheel got so bad I had no choice. I have 12,302 on it now in just over a year and do mostly freeway driving with very little stop and go and NO hill driving and have to replace both the rotors and pads now. They will not cover these as they are designed to wear. 4k and they need to be replaced but that is NORMAL???!!! I called Chrysler and talked to "James" (clearly I got a guy in India) and after checking with his supervisor numerous times, I was told I was S.O.L and that they wouldn't cover them. I have been a lifelong Chrysler man and have owned over 20 Chrysler vehicles and now will never own another. I am taking it down on Saturday and trading it in. I now understand why they went bankrupt and I truly hope they go belly up with this kind of customer "loyalty". I am filing a consumer complaint on them also and will now bad mouth them to everyone I know. I can't believe they are willing to throw customers away when they are in such dire straits. The crummy part is I don't like any other vehicles but will have to choose the best of the worst.
  2. I have been having endless issues with the drivers side plastic door jam protector plate. I keep hooking my foot on it and yanking it out of the connectors. I went to the dealer today to see if I could get a new one since the connector plugs are all bent now and found out they have a nationwide backorder. Obviously I am not the only one having problems with that poorly designed plate. When I get the new one, I am going to secure it with a couple of self tapping screws to prevent recurrence.
  3. I actually had it fixed while I was getting the recall done. It was the servo that was bad. They also fixed the squeak in the drivers side rear. There is a TSB out on it.
  4. I tried that. The refills are custom to the Journey. (yaay) They are wider at the disconnect than normal and the rear is completely custom. I was able to get the actual blades but only in the cheap kind and not the high quality kind needed for the harsh sun and winters here. I think I'll try the blade MFG's website to see if they can provide them. Ordering them is acceptable.
  5. They were garbage to start with but it sprinkles just about every afternoon here in Colorado. Just enough to mess up your windows so I have to use them at least once per day. On top of that it is dusty so I have to use them more often. The rear one was streaking since the day I bought it and the front just started leaving multiple lines when wiping. That's why I am trying to find higher quality blades.
  6. I had to replace my wipers and of course even the dealers don't have replacements yet. I had to buy three sets to replace the fronts that are different sizes and the rear. Getting the front replaced was not too bad. You just take the current holders and on one end you will see it has been crimped to the rubber refill. If you use a screwdriver you can pry it open and get the blade out. You can then slide in a replacement. The rear was a pain to just get off. I went to several mechanics and several dealers trying to figure it out and accidently found the answer. First you have to slightly pull the cover apart at the pivot point and it flips back on a hinge. This allows you to lift the blade off the glass to 90 degrees. Then you rotate the blade backward like you are going to have it go backwards on the glass and when it hits the stop, go just a bit further and it will pop off. Once the replacements hit you can just replace the whole piece but for now, you need to just pry one end of the rubber up a bit to clear the catch and it will slide out with some effort. You can then slide a new one back in. and reinstall it. You would think Dodge would get replacement parts like wipers out to the dealers right way but it's already been 6 months since I bought mine and they still don't have blades. Anyone know of a place to buy new ones that are high quality? The ones I got as replacements are not that good and winter is coming soon. I live in Colorado so it gets pretty tough on blades.

    weird noise

I've head that noise several times now and I think it's the tire rubbing on the shock mount. If you look at the mount, it is extremely close to the tire and actually goes over the top of the tire a bit. This is a VERY stupid design as it limits the size tire you can install to the current size. I think when you are turning at speed, the tire leans a bit to the right at the top and rubs the tower. Mine doesn't do it very often but it does look like the tower has been rubbed. If you take some whiteout and paint the area with it, and then get it to make that noise you can confirm if that is the cause. The whiteout washes right off so you have no permanent issues but it will show a clear indication if it has been rubbed. If you don't have whiteout, a crayon or possibly chalk should work also. Just make sure you don't drive through any water while you are testing it or it will wash off and ruin the test.
  8. That weird sound was the tranny grinding. Luckily yours didn't lock and just ground a bit. I hit mine at about 10 MPH and it locked up and screeched to a halt. Great design huh? So much for it having an electronic lockout. I'll wait for the recall on this issue to happen VERY soon.
  9. Maybe it's because I have big feet but several times now I have released the hood latch while removing the parking brake. It sucks because I have to stop the vehicle and get out and shut the hood tight. My foot catches the hood release lever when I am releasing the brake on the upstroke. I also keep catching my foot on the plastic door jam protector and yanking it out of it's cheap holders. Couldn't they have bothered to put a screw in it instead of the stupid push connectors? You'd think real screws would be cheaper than those flimsy connectors. Anyone else getting these issues? I wear a size 13 EEE shoe so maybe it's just designed for a smaller foot.
  10. I haven't had that problem but my passenger window doesn't work right all the time. I think it's the switch on the drivers controls that is faulty because it works fine from the passenger button. It goes down fine but goes up slow and stalls several times and I have to let go of the button and press it again to get it o go up a little more and then repeat. I'm going to drop it off this week to get a recall fixed and also the squeak in the drivers side rear and the window. I'm also going to have them check the AC because it stinks like mildew every time I use it.
  11. I just got a notice that the engine wiring harness may chafe on the left transaxle mount and cause an engine fire. Anyone else get any other notices on the 3.5 yet? This one is "safety recall H21" We should be getting one on the reverse/park lockout issue soon. I guess they are waiting for someone to get killed first. Gotta love Corporate America's greed.
  12. I have a silver one in Denver so if you saw Silver, It could have been me. :-) I have actually seen a red one and a white one in the last month and a half. There are several that look a lot like the Journey so you have to look at the grill to tell for sure.
  13. I'm new here so I don't know if the attachment worked right or not but if it did, you will see that the shifter does have a right kickout but it is rounded so it easily moves straight from drive to park with no hesitation. If you look at the auto-stick section, there is nothing there but there is a mechanism somewhere that forces you to move the lever to the right to engage that section. You can pull back all you want but unless you move to the right, it won't go in. This SHOULD be the same way for the reverse park section but it is not. you can push forward and to the LEFT and it will still go all the way to park with no hesitation. Truly insane. To put a detent on the autostick section is completely useless because it will ONLY go into the current gear but going the other way will drop your transmission. If anything it should be the other way around.
  14. The book states the warning light comes on at 1/8 of a tank and it's a 21 gallon tank so it supposedly comes on at 2.625 gallons left. I went less than 30 miles so I must have gotten less than 10 MPG or the light came on late. I am averaging 17.6 mpg so something is screwy.
  15. It DID engage at 10 mph. SCREECHING halt. It got accidentally bumped into reverse. It is an INSANE design even if it has a 5 mph electronic lockout. It should NOT be that easy to shift it into reverse/park. I know of no other vehicle that allows this to happen. ALL of them have a detent/lockout. If you can push it from drive to park without having to move the lever over, yours will do it also.
  16. It could have easily been mounted on the column. There are cars out there that have "paddle shift" that is basically the same as the auto-stick and is mounted on the steering wheel. I don't really have an issue with the floor mount, only that the design is insane. You have to move the lever over to get into the auto-stick mode but not to go into park or reverse. I see nothing but trouble with this insane design and possibly numerous deaths before it is recalled and fixed. It slips very easily into reverse and a dog, cat or child will easily do so and send the vehicle into a screeching halt. Heck, all it will take is someone leaning over to kiss the passenger or driver and bang, there goes your transmission and possibly an accident. It is sheer insanity to not have a reverse/park detent/lockout like every other vehicle does.
  17. I did check and all it said was "Low Fuel". My Dodge Dakota would keep giving me readings until I was out if I took it that far. It ALWAYS showed distance to empty correctly. I know the Dakota was at 5 gallons because I filled it when the light came on and I had 5 gallons left. I'm going to try that this next fill up to see when it comes on. I only went less than 30 miles so I should have easily made it to a station. 26 years and I never ran out until this vehicle.
  18. I ran out of gas this morning. I was driving home last night (14 miles) when the low gas warning came on. I figured I had a couple gallons left as most vehicles warn you at 5 gallons. I figured I'd get gas at lunch today but didn't make it to work. I got less than 28 miles after the warning light came on. I'm supposedly getting 17.5 MPG. Be warned that when that warning hits, you better get to gas NOW! This is the first time I have run out of gas in 26 years.
  19. I got the lifetime power train and bumper to bumper warranties thrown in for free. It's not transferrable though. They are getting desperate for a sale now. I got a fully loaded SXT (minus the sunroof and 3rd row seating) for 24k out the door. I missed the 2.99 gas for 3 years by 4 days! Dang it! It's ALWAYS a good idea to get the extended warranty on a new style of vehicle. They have a lot of bugs to work out and it makes it nice not to have to deal with it.
  20. I have called the dealership and Dodge but no one can tell me if it is designed this way. I can be driving down the road and bump the shifter and it will go right into reverse or park. What is stupid is that I can't bump it into the auto-shift or whatever its called. I have to move the shifter over to get it to go into the area I can manually control the gears. Bumping it into that auto-shift range will do NO harm but it could drop your tranny if you are doing over 10 MPH and slam it into park or reverse. I assume it is only my vehicle that does this right? BTW: I have the 6 cyl. AWD with 6 speed tranny. Does your Journey allow you to just push the gear shift straight into park without any hesitation even when you are stopped or do you have to stop and move the shifter over to continue? Mine literally has no hesitation going from drive to park. And it DOES do it while moving. That's how I found out. 5 mph and it got knocked into reverse! Screeching halt! I just need to know if they all do this or is it just mine. The dealers have no clue since they don't have any on the lot to test.
  21. The AWD is electronically controlled but if you read up on it, it is front wheel drive under most conditions and only shifts power to the rear when traction is lost or under heavy acceleration. The front wheel drive requires the limited slip and it could very well be the source of the clicking.
  22. I don't think you will be able to fit the rims you want on the vehicle unless you keep the exact same overall height. If you look under the front wheel well you see the shock mount only has about 1/4 inch clearance between it and the TOP of the tire. Yes, the geniuses at Dodge designed it retarded so you can't put bigger tires on it without modifying it drastically. I'm sure someone will eventually come out with modified shocks but for now you are stuck. I wanted to put 31's on mine and no dice. I don't like the street tires I have on it as I live in Colorado and drive a lot in the snow. I haven't had the opportunity yet but I see your picture is in the snow. How does it handle in the snow?
  23. It could be the AWD limited slip. I haven't heard it on mine yet but I had the Dodge Dakota with AWD and it clicked when I turned every time. Almost like a ratchet sound but slower. It was the limited slip allowing one wheel to turn faster than the other. AWD vehicles must do this for the front wheels or both wheels will try and go the same speed and you can't turn without one wheel loosing traction.
  24. I have called the dealership and Dodge but no one can tell me if it is designed this way. I can be driving down the road and bump the shifter and it will go right into reverse or park.
