  1. Wow, all the complaints sound like my experiences with the Toyota Camry, most expensive maintenance vehicle I've ever had the mis fortune of buying, I bought the Journey to replace our 2002 Durango (192,000 miles and still ran great), have had it for 18 months now with absolutely NO problems. It takes up to 7 people (four children and a teenager included) through the snow or the desert in great comfort and very surefooted (R/T AWD) as well as economical, I even tow a cargo trailer with it, did I mention it looks great in black, and we bought it new for 22.5k. The only thing I would improve is a little more power (used to the V8 Durango).

It's great to hear a positive post on here. I agree.

  2. Whatever you do , DO NOT GET A JOURNEY!!! It will not hold up and with lillte ones on the way , I would make safety my first priorty.

I would consider a Buick Enclave first, I regret not getting it now. The Honda Pilot is a great choice. Good-luck to you

Sounds like a personal gripe to me. :talkhand: :baby:

The Journey has top safety ratings and I highly recommend the 2011 model. Read the Car and Driver article under the 2011 Journey thread.

If you do your homework and want an Enclave be my guest. If you want to support overseas car companies.....well.....

  3. That looks like a winner! I hope some of those auto reviewers who seemed to give my 2009 Journey negative comments really take a look at the 2011 and give it fair comparison in terms of what you get for the money you put out. (Of course, I hope Dodge doesn't up the price too much.)

Yeah, I have a 2009 SXT FWD and love it. I just think the reviewers were on the take to boost sales of the competitors. ;)

  4. From what I read, the 2011 Journey is going to be a nice update, especially of the engine. I have a 2009 and I really can't complain about the power of the V6 engine. Previously, I drove a 2000 Dodge Caravan with around 173 HP ... V6 ... so when I got the Journey with a 235 HP V6, it was like I got a big power boost. When I am on the highway, I can pass any vehicle I want to pass without any problems. I usually drive around 70 mph or 119 kph and it seems to be a good speed for the traffic I encounter. I haven't seen a 2011 yet but they should be out soon.

Jaymista, I left two links on this thread with photo. I think you'll like it. :)

  5. It looks like they took the Dodge Ram symbol off the front of the cross hairs. They are now referring to the Dodge trucks as Ram trucks and not Dodge Ram trucks, so I understand. I would guess that is why there is no more ram symbol on the Journey. I wonder if it is on the back door.

Doesn't look like it. Nor is it on the steering wheel. Unless this is a test model. Another thread had still photos. I'll check there.

    Nope. It's gone:

  6. I love my Journey. Just a nice run of the mill Journey, no add on's, nothing fancy about it. It's tires and wheels got stolen off it, so had to replace those (unfortunately with Goodyear Integrity's that didn't last even 20,000 miles, never again with Goodyears for me). Had to get the brakes replaced after 20,000 miles, I thought that was rather quickly but maybe not. No horror stories here and we are coming up on 37,000 miles. Kids love it, hubby loves it, my whole family likes it. I took a chance on it since it was the first year for the car and I am glad I did. Would I buy another one, yes definitely. However we will see if they are still around when this one gets run into the ground.

Ditto, friend. I have a 2009 SXT FWD. :happy feet:

  7. I'm with you folks. I had a 2010 for a rental and loved it. While I was looking for another car I came across a 2009 SXT FWD. I love it. Every now and then I look over at my wife and say, "Have I told you I love this car?". I think she's about ready to throw something at me so I'd better cool it.

Oh and here's something neat. For an air freshener I use a Glade Plug-in in the conventional outlet behind the center compartment. Works like a charm!

  8. I think Dodge is addressing this (or so I hope). I just had my tires changed and you guessed it, one of the valve stems was corroded. The tire guy said he couldn't order a new one from Dodge because they are all off the shelves for the time being. My guess is that they are trying to rethink the metal they use. Either way I hope they fix the problem. When I bought the car(certified used) it had a bad valve stem so they replaced it. Then another one went. Then a third. Hopefully this is the last one for a long time.

  9. I am assuming you refer to the lugs with the tamper proofed edges (round) and the engraved recess that accepts the key? They work well and cause no balance / alignment issues. They are easy to install (one per rim) and make sure you keep the key in the vehicle somewhere - especially service time - also make sure you get some with the same shoulder & thread as the factory lugs.

I recommend taking the lug key with you when you are not driving. I came out one morning to find my wife's CRV up on bricks. They broke out a small window (after they clipped the alarm wire) then ransacked the car until they found the key. I know it can be a pain, but it was more of a pain getting the tires replaced and for the tow truck guy trying to get the car off the bricks and onto the flatbed without damaging the car. He did an awesome job.
