  1. Yeah dealership in AZ is crazy expensive for a full synthetic oil change. We had just moved here and all my tools were in storage. I do it myself now, but I noticed the ticking before I started doing it. It's due for another one in 300 miles, so maybe I'll try a different brand that meets the Chrysler specifications. It needs to go in for the recall on the steering wheel, so I'll bring it up then. To my knowledge the 2014's have a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty correct?
  2. I have a 2014 Journey Limited with 60,000 miles on it. I'm religious when it comes to maintenance, and change my oil every 3,000 miles. Up until recently I would have the dealership do it, but at $130 I started doing it myself. Based off the owners manual it says to use Pennzoil, I hate Pennzoil but that's what Chrysler recommends, andI use a Mopar brand oil filter. I've started to notice a constant ticking. Doesn't matter if the car is cold or at operating temperature it still ticks. I have no check engine light, oil is smack dab in the center of the "safe" area when hot. Is it the oil brand? Is this an ugly problem starting to bear its head? I thought about getting Mopar brand oil to see if that makes a difference, but I thought I would check here for recommendations.
  3. Well I was able to use a friends garage and changed it myself. Saved a lot of money, and I know what went into my car. Thanks for the help guys!
  4. So my 2014 Journey Limited is in need of an oil change and the dealership wants $80 for a full synthetic. Is this right? The most I've ever paid for a full synthetic oil change was $50, and that was on a 5.7 hemi! The process on the Journey isn't even that complicated, its that all my tools are in storage.
  5. I've always made sure they stop on the first click, the wife on the other hand that's a different story. Yeah the guy at AutoZone wasn't much help other than he said that for the car only being a 2014 with 46,000 that it shouldn't be having a problem like that. He said it's more than likely the gas cap. Once I told him that the Journey will literally show you a picture of a cap and the corresponding code he was like, well I'd be taking it to dodge! I'm trying to avoid this entirely due to the fact they screwed my wife out of $1000 on our magnum, and their service is horrible. I cleared the code yesterday so we will see if it returns. I have about a 40 minute drive today so that should present an opportunity for the code to pop up again.
  6. Hahaha I know right!? Here in Oregon we don't have self serve gas stations, kind of annoying. AutoZone said they aren't allowed to clear the codes anymore, I'm not sure how entirely true that is but yeah. I have a buddy with a code reader he's going to come by and clear it. I suppose I could disconnect the battery. I know on my magnum after every fill up the engine light came on. I finally told them each time I'll put the cap on myself. Also do you know if we are supposed to have the spring loaded flap inside the fill tube? I noticed there isn't one when I checked the cap.
  7. I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong area, but I need a little help. I have a 2014 Dodge Journey Limited that I bought used with 43,000 miles about a month and a half ago. It has been a fantastic car, we really enjoy it. Today as I ran into town the CEL comes on, there was no change in the way it drove, nothing. So I stopped at Home Depot and figured a code would pop up on the EVIC under messages as it did when the gas cap code popped up. Gas station attendant didn't put the cap back on the right way. But there was no code... so I took it to AutoZone and they pulled the P0455 code. Large EVAP leak detected. The car had about a 1/4 tank of gas. The guy at AutoZone says it's probably the gas cap. Has anyone had experience with this? I've checked the engine bay, crawled underneath and looked at the EVAP canister, and everything looks normal from what I can see. The wife wants to take it to the dealership but I just cringe at paying them $100 for them to say it's the gas cap. Any help would appreciated.
  8. Yeah, I don't think I'll go through the hassle. I'm fairly mechanically inclined and have installed numerous systems into vehicles, but I think I'll just stick with the RE2. Its a great car as is, I just have mild OCD and having cords, smudges and what not gets to me a little bit. I really appreciate the info! Thank you!
  9. So I'm fairly new to the Dodge Journey platform, but not Dodge. I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, as I am new to this forum. So first things first I just recently acquired a 2014 Dodge Journey Limited. My current radio configuration is the 8.4/RE2 so I don't have the navigation option. I have found a few threads on this forum on how to add aftermarket Navigation to our systems but they require a bunch of different modules that require modification/mounting behind the dash. So my question is this: is the screen just a touch screen and only that? Or is this something that requires replacement along with the stereo head unit? Ultimately if I was to acquire a 8.4N/RB5 unit would it be plug and play with the screen or require both the head unit and the screen? I hope that makes sense? I have a GPS that plugs into the cigarette lighter and attaches using the window smudging suction cup that will suffice, but I want to eliminate that whole thing all together if possible.
