  1. You can try going on the Sebring forum to read up on issues with the vehicle or check out edmunds customer reviews.

Thanks for the tip will do that. I was taking the sebring at the local dealership for a test run and this old guy comes over to me and tells me that the sebring used to be his and he traded it for a new honda and he said the car is in top shape and no problems with it.I drove it and it did run nice an smoth compared to my ex Journey. I think Monday Im getting this car and i will still hang around the forum of course to see how thing are doing from time to time.

I do miss my Journey though...lots of memories in the vehicle.

  2. I am not saying this the case in this instance but some

people are in the habit of rolling old debt into new debt.

Some car dealers just love to say "sure we'll pay off

your remaining debt on the trade-in".

They along with the financing body then just sock it to

people who either by habit or circumstance buy cars

this way = high monthly payments.

I originaly had a caliber before the journey and the reason we traded it for the journey is cause the car was a POS and started to fall apart after couple of years owning it.And thats the first time i have done anything like that so im not in the habit of rolling in old debt in to new one. What they did was totally ilegal acording to various car salesman i have spoken to and thats why i filed a complaint with the VSA. Luckily here in British Columbia there is a low which is called seize or sue and i dont have to pay nothing since I gave it back they cant come after me for the rest of the money. My credit took a hit though but thats not a problem and tomorow i am going to pick up a used car from a diffrent dealership just so I can get around town.

Just to make things clear I like Dodge vehicles the unfortunate part is that I got dealt a crapy hand and my new car expirience was not good so far.

Well since Im here I wanted to know if anyone has any opinions on a 2008 Chrysler Sebring LX Touring. Its a 2.7 l v6 and its one of the vehicles I am looking at.Is there any known problems with this cars I should know about? Just dont want another headache. Its selling for $9000.00 right now and thats about all I can afford currently.

Cheers and thanks to all for the kind words.

  3. Was a sad day for me today but it was something that had to be done. The brake issues were driving me crazy and not to mention paying $640 a month was way to much for a car like this.So I gave it back to the bank and I know it will put a dent on my credit history but I dont really care.

The dealership I got the car from are a bunch of dishonest sons of a bitch and now i am filing a complaint to the VSA for reasons I wont talk about here.I loved the car but changing brakes every 9000 km is not something I can live with. And I also had other small issues including lack of customer support from Dodge and the dealership. This is my last Dodge and never wil I buy another.

I just to thank everyone and wish luck to all of you.

  4. So its time again to do this brakes and I was looking around online and stumbled upon this website that sell an upgrade kit for the journey and was hoping someone might have used this product and give some feedback on how the perform.

    http://www.buybrakes.com/c-80_2010-dodge-journey_brake-kits.aspx

I want to know if i can install bigger brakes on my journey and this seems like something good.

    Anyone?

  5. Sorry SilentDan, i was only busting your chops....As mentioned by Oracle, squeeling brakes doesn't necessarily mean their shot an application of synthetic brake grease on the outer pads usually will silence them.

I am fully aware of the crappy brakes as I have experienced them first hand when i was cut off and was forced to slam on the brakes. It was the first time I ever felt brakes that just seemed too weak for this vehicle. I'm not to concerned as I will be upgrading the pads & rotors myself with some decent aftermarkets and see if that improves my braking. BTW i'm close to 30,000 km with the original brakes with still plenty of pad life left.

As for gas mileage if your thinking that you are going to find an economizer with an import V-6 engine you may be disappointed to find that you are not going to get that much better unless you go to a small 4 cyl. utility vehicle which may or may not suit your needs. Here are the comparisons as further proof....I will use the Toyota Highlander as your import which seems to be the near equivalent size wise and engine wise to the Dodge Journey:

    2012 Toyota Highlander (auto) V6 3.5L 2WD = 20 MPG (combined) / V6 3.5L 4WD = 19 MPG (combined)

    2012 Dodge Journey (auto) V6 3.6L FWD = 22 MPG (combined) / V6 3.6L AWD = 19 MPG (combined)

    2010 Dodge Journey (auto) V6 3.5L FWD = 19 MPG (combined) / V6 3.5L AWD = 18 MPG (combined)

You can check out other stats at www.fueleconomy.gov

Sorry bro didnt realize that you were just meesing around with me.I allready had the brakes checked out by a local mechanic and they are almost done acording to them.So I have to start planing on what to do with them and whatnot. And as far as the gas consuption...maybe the display in the car is wrong and i realize that the Journey is a good vehicle and has served me well all this time so its not as bad in my case as it is with some other members on here i guess.

I just switched apartment recently and the journey was great at helping me move most of the stuff from one apartment to another. So roomy inside i was able to fit lots of stuff and move them to the other place.I just wish dodge would have steped up and fix this brake issue once and for all and not offer some band aid jobs like they have before. Its dificult for me to justify shelling out money on brakes every year instead of using it toward my family needs if you know what I mean.

  6. Wow, brakes every 9,000 km would definitely be a sign of aggressive braking trying to avoid rear ending someone with the lead foot that is giving you the crappy mileage :D.....you must be joking about the 9000 km's because if you brakes are going that fast then it should be covered under the brake warranty from the last time they were replaced.

No agresive braking here bud trust me.My dj is a 2010 model and I only have 30000 km.I only drive the car from home to my wifes job 6 days a week and maybe once in a while I take it on the highway.I allready had the crapy extended warranty that stinking Dodge sent me and it expired. Now I have to pay for brakes every year out of my own pocket. I dont speed and I dont tailgate people as well and I always make sure to not brake hard and just like your self the local dealer here started to acuse me of the same and I have news for you.Its not me its the crap brakes they put on this vehicle and I am not the only one to have this problem.

That's not right, reset the Avg mileage cause it takes a while to average down to 13-14l/100km (for me). If you think a Jap or Euro car will save your wallet from getting lighter.. I have news.. you may save some on a 4 banger but the asking price will set you back thousands more.. Do the math..

Squealing brakes can be solved by just applying a coat of anti-squeal grease.. I come from a Euro nice vehicle, they're as thirsty as any other V6

How long will it take to average down cause Ive had this car for a while now. I dont know how acurate the display is but I have learned to not pay atention to it much. Dont get me wrong I love the car and the way it drives its just I am getting pissed of with the damn dealerships here and lack of service as well. And to top that off I have to deal with brake problems due to poor engineering on Dodges part. Im sorry but I have a family and cant afford to blow my money on brakes. And now I have noticed lots of creeking inside the cabin, the rear passenger door feels up with water every time it rains havy. One of this days Im gona drive this car right through the dealerships window and set it on fire in the middle of the show room.

  7. What I want to share is that around here is so cold the rotors are buttery even, like new.. the -18c (0f) keeps them cold enough to eliminate completely all the pulsating :)

So I'll delay the rotors replacement until is warm again ;)

And my brakes are squeeling like a dying dog right now. Will wait till spring/summer to get rid of this car cause the brake problems are just a deal breaker for me. I dont have money to burn on brakes every 9000 km and the gas consumption is crappy as well. The display says that the car is doing 17.9 L /100 km this is quiet crazy. As soon as spring gets here I am so done with this car and no more domestic for me.

  8. Reasons why I have traded in my 2010 Journey SXT (31,500kms) for a non-Dodge/Chrysler vehicle

    Full brake job at 19k

Heater fan burnt out (caught on fire)

    power steering failure

    radio replaced

Driving and had complete electrical fail (all instruments and a/c shut down)

Alarm randomly went off, put key in ignition and started the car and the alarm still continued. About 15 mins later I was able to somehow turn it off.

While all of these issues were covered by warranty, I could only imagine what costs would be involved once the warranty expired, shouldn't have these types of headaches with a new vehicle. Disgusted.

Top this off with poor service at the Dealership, typically a week and half wait times before getting an appointment, and I am done with this vehicle and Dodge/Chrysler.

Sorry to see you guys having so many issues with your vehicles.

What did you end up getting if you dont mind me asking?I am probobly going to trade in the Journey next year that way I can pay off more of what i owe on this car and wont have to much negative equity.I also have the 2010 sxt and everything so far has been good apart from the crapy brakes.I did not purchase this car so I can fix brakes every freaking 9000 km.So yeah the brakes are the bigest let down on this vehicle and I am definetely not purchasing another Dodge that is for sure.

Hopefully your new car will treat you better than the DJ.

  9. I hope you enjoy your DJ as much as I have. The only thing that has been giving me problems is the damn brakes but other than that it is running strong.

My 8 year old daughter loves our Journey more than I do :)

I like the collor of yours by the way.

    Good Luck!

  10. An update to my post on 26 July on my 2012 Dodge Journey R/T. It has now been in the shop for 6 days out of the 2 weeks I have owned it and the Chrysler rep who was here to diagnose the shuttering issue with the transmission has come to an astounding conclusion. "There is no fix at this time". Thank you. Chrysler has turned my case over to the buy-back department since my vehicle only has 1000 miles on it and has been in the shop 5 times for repairs they say they cannot make because according to the Chrylser guru "there is no fix at this time". I talked to the buy-back rep for Chrysler and they said I did not have repairs on my transmission 5 different occasions because there is no fix at this time so there was no repair. I contacted several lemon law lawyers and sent them all my information and repair invoices and was suprised to see how many were more than willing to take this case. I now have a lawyer and will keep you posted on the procedings. Here are some of the issues with my Journey:

    1. Brake and Steering shuttering, 2. Transmission shuddering, 3. Abnormal tire wear, 4. Electrical malfunction, 5. Defective A/C system.

Hope it works out for you pal.No one should have so many problems with a new vehicle like you have had.

You should have been enjoying your new vehicle instead of having to deal with all this problems and on top of that stupid Dodge personel that have no freaking idea what they are doing.

Good Luck and keep us posted if you can.

  11. I found plasti-dil at Home Hardware for about $15, I as well live in Canada. Of course its too late now but that looks good

I managed to pick up a few cans at Industrial Plastics and paints. That was the only place they had this stuff around here and it was $20.00 a can.

I think i will pick up some clear coat plasti dip and find a use for it somewhere.

  12. That looks nice. I may have to do this tomorrow with mine.

Thanks bro!It is really easy to do and took like maybe 30 minutes cause you have to wait 10-15 min in between coats of spray.

I used like 5 coats of spray just to be sure it is thick enough.

BIG improvement! I never cared for the ribbed silver paint - makes it look cheap. I switched my bezel out for one from an R/T in order to get away from it. This would have been a much cheaper option!

I agree and I always disliked the silver part either and went ahead against my wife's wishes and sprayed the damn thing.

  13. Last time I also took it in for the ac blowing warm when I am sitting. Dealership said it was because I had dark color interior. How funny is that. anyway the dealership now has a Chrysler rep in house to try and diagnose the shuttering issue as they are getting many complaints about this. I will let you know what they say.

OMG and this people are representing Dodge?

That is the most stupidest thing I have seen or heard.

  14. I just plasti-dipped mine this past weekend.... all I did was taped of the headlights and bumper under the grill, Pulled back the facia so that I could slide a piece of cardboard behind the grill, so i didnt get it on the radiator.. and then sprayed. Looks nice imo... I will be taking pics and posting them after I do the headlights this weekend. (done on a 2010 sxt)

I plasti diped the chrome part of the dash and it looks much better. Now I removed the whole grille and than removed the chrome piece of the grille with the dodge logo and i am spraying that now.It looks good.

here is the pics to the dash I plasti diped. The pictures dont show really how good it looks cause of some dust thats there but once cleaned it looks awesome.

Here is the car with the grill sprayed with plasti dip.

  15. anyone knows how to take of the grille on a 2010 Journey?

All I am able to do is remove the clips on the top but the bottom part is not moving and i am not able to see anything that is holding that area in place.

I want to remove the grille so I can aply some plasti dip on the chrome piece.

    Cheers!

  16. I have had good luck putting them on my 09 but they were not from this seller

I also used Wagner Ceramic pads

Thanks for the reply man.I am really interested in a setup like this and hopefully it will be better than the oem brakes.I will do more diging around and make sure I buy the right stuff.

    Cheers!
