Lol! It looks exactly like a mini van

I have a 2012 journey sxt. When I try to start the car the brake will not depress at all. If I jump the battery,even though I don't think it's the battery,it will allow you to depress the brake just enough to get the car started. Also, this is an intermittent problem. Does anyone have any advice as to what could be causing this problem? Thanks in advance.
