  1. Hi guys, I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while. My install went fairly smooth-including the dash, you have to remove tha pillar trim on both sides first before removing the dash panel. The whole install is definitely easier if you have a decent set of trim panel removal tools, I found them on Amazon as well as the coaxial speaker set, I bought the other speaker set (the component set) on eBay. I definitely noticed better lows and the highs are like night and day between the original and the new tweeters. My car doesn't have a subwoofer so I unfortunately don't have any info on that. I also found out during my speaker research that the Alpine system has 2 Ohm speakers and these speakers are 4 Ohm so you may not get a very desirable sound from these unless you change your amp. My car only has the base (small screen and no amp) system which has stock 4 Ohm speakers so I'm getting better sound from these Kickers. But I'm still getting a little static in the vocal parts of some songs-especially newer or remastered recordings (CD or iPod) so now I'm guessing is the stereo itself. So it seems that adding new speakers to my car helps but, with my radio-it's just like polishing a turd. I miss the days and the cars where you can also swap in a new stereo for the ultimate upgrade. I hope this helps.
  2. Hi guys, I just finished installing my new speakers today! I installed the Mopar/Kicker 77KICK28ab (component) in the front doors and dash and the 77KICK41 (coaxial) in the rear doors without any mods at all. The depth of the speakers weren't as deep as the info in all my research and they all fit like they were made for my car and they have the same OEM connector as the original featherweight speakers. The sound difference is definitely huge and I'm hearing more details in my music again. I haven't cranked the volume yet since I heard new speakers should be given a couple days of lower volume for breaking them in. I don't know if that's true or not but I figured it couldn't hurt to go easy on them in the beginning anyway and I don't want to chance damaging them.
  3. Thanks guys for all your advice and information-I appreciate every one very much. I'll let you know how things turn out once I pick out some speakers.

I'm hoping to find speakers to fit and I'm especially hoping to add the overhead console that Dodge only puts in as an option or in the top line models.
  5. How did you get lucky enough to get a different 6x9 to fit in the doors? I checked one of the back doors, I measured the space between the mounting surface and the plastic piece behind where the magnet is and there's only 2 3/4" of space and many replacement speakers are at-least 3" or more. Did you have to cut that piece of the door behind the magnet or did you find some shallow-mount 6x9s? I guess that explains why Crutchfield says 6x9s don't fit. Even those Kickers I mentioned are 3" deep for the front doors and 3 1/4" for the rear doors. I'm really hating this car more and more-the lacking of certain basic features and especially with the lack of support of accessories and upgrades.
  6. Thanks for the info. I already checked with Crutchfield and they don't carry 6x9s that fit in the doors-they say that the DJ doesn't have enough mounting depth for many aftermarket 6x9s and all I can do is swap out the 6x9s for the smaller round 5 1/4 - 6 1/2 speakers which are for shallow-mounting situations. And with those-I know that I'd lose some bass and then I'd still have to deal with the static or scratchy sound from the dash speakers whenever I play newer recorded CDs and re-mastered CDs. I'm interested in the 77KICK11ab if anyone knows the depth requirements of that set or I may go with the 77KICK28 if the 3.5s from the KICK11 set needs more depth spacing than the stock dash speakers I have now. Any help and info is greatly appreciated.
  7. Which KICKER speaker set did you order for the front doors/dash? I have a 2015 Journey SXT with the standard system that I'd like to upgrade.
