  1. I recently bought a 2010 Dodge Journey and one of the tire sensors broke and has now been replaced. I now need to buy some air stem dust caps and I was told now to get any metal caps to avoid more corrosion. I found some on Amazon and it was confusing because it said "Anti-Theft Locking System RED-D Metal Chrome Tire Rim Valve Stem Cap". I emailed the seller to ask if they are metal or chrome. And here is his response: "the cap is metal and its surface is chrome" So they are metal right? I was told I should only purchase plastic or chrome ones. So this one is metal?
  2. This is what I have on my list first I want them to order the original caps that came with this vehicle, I'm also going to ask them to remove the nuts and coat the threads with anti seize and ask them to look at all the valves and replace any that are corroded.
  3. Okay so I should ask them to order the original caps and to remove the nuts and coat the threads with anti-seize is that correct? Everything else you guys would suggest? Thank you very much everyone
  4. So I guess when I go in on Thursday I'm going to have to ask them to order the original caps because it did not come with any except one.
  5. When I purchase the vehicle a week ago it did not come with any caps except one of the tires which is the one that the stem came off of today. I did not notice there was no caps until a day later when I brought the vehicle home. I didn't think much of it so I went to the store and just purchased the black plastic caps. And today my tire pressure indicator light came on which is why I took the car to the oil change place to help me unscrew the cap on the one tire that it did have a cap that I couldn't get off.
  6. Here's a picture of the plastic cap when removed the stem came off and the tire deflated. How do I avoid this from happening again or the other tires. What exactly needs to be done or replaced. I wanna be ready to tell them what I want done.
  7. So to avoid this from happening on the other tires what should I ask the dealership to replace? I have an appointment they haven't looked at this coming Thursday. So any suggestions to help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know exactly what to ask them besides for them to look at the others to make sure they're not corroded.
  8. The cheap plastic one is the one that was used and the stem came out with it.
  9. I wanted to make a correctio. it did not come with a three year warranty. I'm actually paying for 3 year warranty that I purchased when I purchased the vehicle
  10. When I bought the vehicle it didn't even have any caps at all except on the one which happens to be the one where the stem came out with it. So are you suggesting I go and buy metal caps instead of these plastic black ones? I didn't know that they made metal ones but I will definitely buy them if they're available.
  11. This is a piece that broke what they were trying to replace the stem
  12. I've had the vehicle for one week and today my low tire indicator light came on. I went outside and checked all the tires. The day I was taking the vehicle off the lot and purchased it which was a week ago I was told that all the tires we're checked for correct pressure. So what my indicator light came on I was a little concerned it's only been a week. I took my tire pressure indicator and found that the front driver side tire was 52, front passenger tire was 42 pressure, the back passenger tire was 22. And I tried to check the back driver side tire but I could not unscrew the cap. So I decided to drive the truck the oil change place that I usually go to. I explained to him that I couldn't get the cap off the back driver side tire and asked if they could assist me and of course they did. He also tried to take the cap off and it would not come off so he went and got pliers and when he pulled it off the stem came off and the tire went flat on the air came out. Luckily they were able to put a new staff in there and it only cost me $18. But my issue is why were all the tires pressure completely off. I was told that these metal stems do this often and I shouldn't ask them to replace them with plastic stems. Also also the metal screw part broke off which was not the faults of them. You could tell it was already corroded and I bet the other ones are too. I did purchase the extended 3 year warranty bumper to bumper. So should all this be covered under the warranty? But even if I didn't have a warranty I've only had the car a week all these repairs should be done free of charge or am I wrong?
  13. Thank you everybody for your replies. I just bought this SUV last week and they said that they changed the oil and also check the pressure in my tires. This morning I was taking my fiance to work and my tire pressure indicator came on. Since its only been a week since I purchased this Dodge Journey. Is it normal that I need to add air to my tires already? How often do you normally have to add air to these tires? Just doesn't seem right since its only been a week. I know when it's cold I may have to add air more often. But it's July so it's not cold weather.
