  1. Mobil 1 is going in ours as well after the first change

Anybody know if the oil monitoring system takes into account the differences between Conventional and Synthetic oils? I know that one of the big advantages of synthetic oil is that it retains its beneficial characteristics for much longer. So theoretically, you can stretch the interval out with synthetic oil. Does the system actually attempt to measure the quality of the oil, or is it simply based on some formula involving hours of operation, operating temperature, etc.

  2. On the SXT, Entertainment Group II includes:

    Automatically-Dimming Rearview Mirror w/ Microphone

6 Infinity® Premium Speakers with Subwoofer

    368-Watt Amplifier

    Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Controls

    MyGIG® Multimedia System w/GPS Navigation

    UConnect® Hands-Free Communication

    SIRIUS Traffic with 1-Year Service

    Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel

    ParkView® Rear Back-up Camera

    Hard Disc Drive

You're looking for the Rear Seat Video Group, which has

6 Infinity® Premium Speakers with Subwoofer

    368-Watt Amplifier

    2nd-Row Overhead 8" Video Screen

    Video Remote Control

    Wireless Headphones (IR)

You'll notice that there is some overlap between the options (Audio Amplifier and Upgraded speakers). When you get the EGII, the RSVG is reduced by about $370 (US). Not sure if the list of items is the same on the R/T, but basically, the Entertainment Group II includes the fnacy sound system with NAV, and the Rear Seat Video Group includes the upgraded audio and the DVD screen. Also note that most of Entertainment Group II (MyGIG *without* NAV, UConnect, ParkView Camera) is also included in the Safe and Sound package.

  3. So I would be interested in an informed opinion as to the purpose of the removable engine cover, can't really see it as dirt protection, and would it not impair heat dissipation.

One more kick at footwell lights always on with dash lights issue.

Could someone confirm that their footwell lights are keyed to dash lights with no defeat switch.

I have only seen one Journey on the road in my first two weeks driving here in Toronto. Interesting sensation.

    thanks allicon10.gif

I have not seen the cover you're talking about, but my guess would be that its primary purpose is sound insulation. If I had mine, I could tell you whether the footwell lights stay on all the time, but I have a few weeks to wait yet.

  4. Anyone knows how is Journey's AWD system works?

Is it those AWD which only works @ like 0-60km, and doesn't work on highway?

What is power split in between the front & rear wheel?

Looks like it works at all speeds, but only when you traction control system senses the need for it.

    From the Owner's Manual:

ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) — IF EQUIPPED

This feature provides on-demand All-Wheel Drive

(AWD). The system is automatic with no driver inputs or

additional driving skills required. Under normal driving

conditions, the front wheels provide most of the traction.

If the front wheels begin to lose traction, power is shifted

automatically to the rear wheels. The greater the front

wheel traction loss, the greater the power transfer to the

    rear wheels.

Additionally, on dry pavement under heavy throttle

input (where one may have no wheel spin), torque will be

sent to the rear in a pre-emptive effort to improve vehicle

    launch and performance characteristics.

  5. hey Nicetrip. I called that number (the 465-2001, for urgent matters)and even in my situation the lady said to me the dealer is the only one with the tracking #. They are not allowed to release that info. They are the only ones who can check on the oreder status. I mentioned to her that the dealer is doing nothing for me, Also that I got ahold of Chrysler Canada through e-mail. I got an autometed response saying it will be answered in 3 business days & working days later, no response. I told her I will cancel my order today (March 24th) if you can't help. Her reply was that she can't do anything, it is the dealer that has to release information, she has no access to it.

    Rob

It's amazing how the polices and procedures vary from country to country. I called the US Customer assistance number (1-800-992-1997) twice, and after navigating the voice menu a bit, got a human who asked for my VON and my name, and happliy gave me the status, VIN, and estimated ship date. Makes you wonder how much Chrysler wants to do business in Canada.

I wonder if they won't give you your status because they don't want to tell you what *really* happened to your car.

I'm sorry to hear you've cancelled your order, but fully understand the decision. I'm still hoping you wind up getting your Journey by whatever means.

  6. I have and R/T with the EVIC and I still only have the idiot light! I have no idea what options get you an actual pressure display as I assumed I would have it.

According to the Dodge web site, http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/journey/interior/technology/ (click Driver Information Center), EVIC is part of the Convenience Group II available on the R/T.

You're saying you have Convenience Group II, and still no pressure display? I wonder if they didn't actually implement that feature? Does anyone have the tire pressure display?

  7. I've found the Customer Assistance phone number for Canada. The corresponding number in the US is where you call to get your order status. Could someone in Canada try this number and report back whether it works? You'll need your vehicle order number (VON) to get your status.

    1-800-465-2001 (English) or 1-800-387-9983 (French)

  8. I have a chance to get a 5 passenger Journey EXT and it has all I want except it is AWD. I sort of want FWD because they say it gives better mileage. Does anyone know how much difference in mileage between the FWD and the AWD? I have never had an AWD or 4X4 in my life. Is the AWD worth the extra money to buy?

The AWD will cost you approximately one MPG, according to Dodge's web site http://www.dodge.com/en/performance/2008/ :

The SE gets 19 MPG city and 25 MPG higway

The SXT or RT (FWD) gets 16/23, and

The SXT or RT (AWD) gets 15/22

  9. I've found the Customer Assistance phone number for Canada. The corresponding number in the US is where you call to get your order status. Could someone in Canada try this number and report back whether it works? You'll need your order number (VON) to get your status.

    1-800-465-2001 (English) or 1-800-387-9983 (French)

  10. Did you confirm whether you were getting the upgraded speakers w/Subwoofer? According to what I can find, the upgraded sound is available 3 different ways (at least in the US):

As a standalone option at US$495

As part of the Rear Seat Video Group at US$1195

As part of Entertainment Group II at US$2495

Note also that if you get the Entertainment Group II, the price of the Rear Seat Video Group goes down to US$825, so you're not paying twice for the upgraded speakers.

As for NAV system, I decided it wasn't worth it. My next GPS unit is going to be a DASH. http://www.dash.net/ ...and no, I have no affiliation with DASH, I just think it's the most functional car accessory to come out in a long time!

  11. Found the number from another post - it's 1-800-992-1977, Just called and got my status - D1, and estimated ship date - June 9. Woo Hoo!!

Wonder how long it'll take to make it to North Carolina.

  12. I went back there today and picked her up and we drove to the local station and she filled it up. Almost as soon as I got back in the car and started it up, the check engine light came on

    Xphyle

Just a hunch, but check the gas cap and make sure it is fully on and tight (turn it till you hear several clicks). It's interesting that the light came on right after a fillup, as modern vehicles will throw a CEL if the gas cap is off or loose - it's an emissions thing. If it does turn out to be a loose fuel cap, you might think twice before using that dealership for service, because their service guy can't tell the difference between "fuel sensor" and "fuel cap sensor".

As for the smell, if you got the vehicle undercoated, it's almost certainly the undercoating burning off the exhaust headers. If that's the case it may be a few weeks before it stops completely. Even if you didn't get it undercoated, there may be a thin film of oil that was on certain engine parts to prevent rust. It's almost certainly nothing to worry about, but if you still smell it after a week or two, definitely take it in to be checked.

  13. How did you get the status of the vehicle...do you have a VIN # already?

Dealer called the next day to say my order was confirmed - I assume that means the status is: BX – good order, available for scheduling. Called today and asked him for the status and order number. It's not a VIN, but I think I read somewhere on here that there's a number you can call at Chrysler corp to get status using the order number. Haven't found it again though.

  14. I wonder if this was on a couple proto types and then got shelved  Too bad as I did want them. I just ahte when you have stuff in the bags and it rolls all over the place cause of a corner

    how bout this,....

Anybody have them if so what model do you have SE, SXT, R/T, FWD of AWD

    Rob

I suspect you are correct about the prototype thing. If you look at pics/video from the Frankfurt intoduction, you see the hooks. Most other (later) pics I've seen don't have them. I've also noticed that on the 3rd row seats with hooks, there's a sqaure opening down below the hooks, one centered on the back of each of the two seats. Are these LATCH points that have also been deleted in production models?

  15. The only thing I didn't like about the Journey is that hideous cheap plastic not-quite-imitation-chrome bezel around the center stack. Especially the cheap plastic "real imitation chrome" latch for the cubby at the top, off which the sun glints right into the driver's eyes at times.

I'd like to either paint it a flat color to match the rest of the dash (but don't want to ruin the only one I've got), or swap with the much nicer looking part from the R/T. However I expect it to be some time before such parts are readily available through normal channels, and they will probably be quite expensive.

    Anybody else hate that look?

  16. I see in the manual there is mention of a retractible, roll-up cover that will keep items in the back out of view. Anyone know if this is available or will be made available in the future?

The Cargo Compartment Cover is part of Convenience Group I, but it is deleted with the Flexible Seating Group (third row). I too would like to know if this can be purchased separately, as I plan to keep the rear seats folded down most of the time, and only flip them up when needed. I know that I will have to remove the cover to allow rear seat access in that case, but still would like to cover up the cargo area when the seats are not in use.
