  1. Further to my posting in September - I never got the car, there weren't any left in the UK - so I ordered one at the September price (there was a great promotion going on then) and was told I'd have to wait. Well it finally arrived on Tuesday and to my total delight was the 2010 model which has quite a few improvements on the 2009 which I thought I was getting. I am chuffed to bits.
  2. When I ordered minne is September there weren't any left - as they were having a special promotion and they were cheap I was gutted I couldn't have one immediately. Went to pick it up on Tuesday and was astonished to find it was the 2010 SXT - it was the first one my dealer had seen. It now has a roof rack which is what made the RT look better (but I wasn't going to pay an extra 2k for that - nor leather seats as I don't like them). The other major difference is that it also comes with sunscreen glass which was a paid for option on the 2009 model. It also now comes with a spare wheel - but the best surprise for me is that it now comes with an integrated child booster seat, a clever piece of engineering, you just pull a strap and the seat pops up - absolutely brilliant. If you're ever taking another kid home from school with your little ones, there's no need to lug around a spare car seat. To say I'm very happy is an understatement - if only I could figure out how to use the entertainment system with the HDD sat nave etc - I'd be laughing.
  3. I'm not surprised you haven't seen any - I've been told by yet another dealer that there aren't any left in the country and there won't be any until next year - but they wont let you pay for one now and wait. I'm very pissed off.
  4. So I placed my order for an RT on Saturday for £16,800 ($27,000) Only to get a phone call on monday to tell me that there won't be any mor RT's until January Not a problem, I'll wait - I said No chance - they won't take my money until the car comes in - however they wont honour the deal in January , they say that the price might be completely different then - plus of course our tax rate changes to 17.5% so I'm going to be stung for another £500. Needless to say, I am very very pissed off about this - I see no reason why I can't give them the cash now and wait until january. Anyone can advertise a product at a great price if they actually have no intention of letting people buy them.
  5. Damn! I was happy with my £16,800 for thr RT (offered an SE for £12,300) i thought it was a good deal I was getting, so didn't bother haggling (I usually do) - I wish I had now. That's a great deal you got (did it include scrappage ?)
  6. Ordered my RT in red today One of my mates says it's the ugliest looking car on the road, and recommended I got this instead http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/transporter/sportline/ Trouble is, I don't think he's joking Tried looking at other MPVs but just couldn't stop comparing them to what I think are the stunning looks of the dodge. Just have to wait for 3 long weeks now.
  7. Cheers BAC Finally decided to go for the RT anyway so petrol is a moot point now - just couldn't resist all the add ons - but I must say if there was an option of just adding the chrome handles and roof rails - I'd have probably stuck with the SE, for some reason those little touches make it look so much better. As it happened I got a stonkingly good deal on the RT manual, (£16,800) I would have liked to have tried both but they are very small dealerships in the south of england and only had autos so I'm taking a bit of a flyer but I'm used to manuals so it shouldn't be too bad. Anyway I thought that for the deal I was offered, it was a hell of a lot of car for the money. (i've seen them second hand for £18,500 on autotrader) I took an SMAX out for a ride today and although the ride was smoother, I just couldn't stop thinking about the fact that I would always be dissapointed looking at the damn thing in my drive. I also thought that despite the fact it was a top of the range SMAX it felt cheap inside and the car feels flimsy (despite it costing nearly 23 grand). I like the big chunky doors on the Dodge and after seeing the footage of the crash tests on youtube, feel quite happy that my kids will be a lot safer in it, so a call went in to the dodge dealer when I got back home Love the colour of yours - I was really torn between that and the red - went for the red in the end. Thanks for answering, I'm really glad to hear that you're happy with yours. I think that once you set eyes on one of these - then nothing else will do. Will now have to wait patiently for 3 weeks.
  8. Hello all I'm looking to buy one of these ever since I came across one the other day and thought it looked fantastic (I recon most of the MPV's in the UK look like you have been well and trully neutered)- it's not as practical as some of the 7 seaters - as a matter of fact I reckon I'm deffo going to need a roof box as the middle row seat doesn't look as if you'll get a child seat on - so one of the 3 kids will permanently have to be in the back. However I was wondering if any of you good people who are living with these cars could answer a couple of questions for me. A) petrol or diesel ? I know the diesel is more fuel efficient but on my test drive I was almost tempted to pick up a fare as it sounded like a London black cab, plus there was this little high pitched whine that went up in pitch when you revved the engine. So I was wondering, is the petrol motor significanlty quieter ? as the engine noise really did put me off. B) secondly and most importantly, knowing what you know now about the car - would you still have bought it if you could go back in time? I'm currently going to have to give up my Honda CRV whaich has never given me a days bother since I bought it, and I really don't wish to replace it with something that is going to frustrate me - no matter how fantastic I think it looks. (going for the red SE for £12,300 which seems like a pretty good deal) Thanks in advance for any advice I may receive, it is much appreciated.
