  1. hmmm, I do not have NAV, maybe it is different? Now I am confused......
  2. look on the far left hand side of the lower glovebox. It is clipped to the side of the hinged area, one end plugs in there, the other to the Ipod, you might need to lean down a little to see it.
  3. Again I would suggest looking at the warranty package and see what it covers, the list is extensive. http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/maximum_care.cfm Based on our experience with our 1999 Dodge Intrepid, 10 years and 115K miles, Chrysler is building good reliable cars. It was an ES model and the only issues we had were a transmission speed sensor, and window regulator failure, both fixed under warranty, and I did replace the trunk lid struts right before we sold it. Everything else, tires, brakes, rotors, a battery were normal wear items. We also have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe, it too has been rock solid, other than normal items, tires, brakes etc, I have replaced 1 fog light bulb in 8 yeras and 115K miles. So, are imports better cars, not in my experience, but I do believe in taking care of my cars. Other than a house, what do we spend that much of our money on?
  4. Remember that most of the car magazine arrticles are written by car enthusiasts....people who like motor racing, sports cars, etc. I consider myself as such, a car enthusiast. The Journey is not a sports car, it is not a $50K touring sedan. It is however in my mind the best cross over available at this time for the price. It is extremely well thought out, handles well, safe, and for cross over...good looking. A 7 passenger version optioned modestly will be in the mid 20's. As others have said, you can't and shouldn't buy a car on anyone's review, go to your dealer and drive one. Try a FWD version, try an AWD version, take into account where do you live, do you have snow, hills, curvy roads? We have had ours 3 weeks and 800 miles, and we are very pleased. We looked at a dozen or more comparables.....and based on our lifestyle there is no doubt we made the right choice.
  5. you have lots of options, this is quick summmary: http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/compare_plans.cfm
  6. We decided the cost of the nav wasn't worth it for us......I do like the touch screen radio and agfter a couple weeks, the need to look down is really minimal. Overall I really do like the touch screen radio and would rather have the handheld GPS. You will love the sunroof, we had one on our 1999 Intrepid and my wife doesn't want to be without it now. This is one of the personal choices, I stopped back at the dealer yesterday to pick up our title work and they had a heavily loaded green SXT/AWD with nav in the showroom. Looking it compared to my version without nav, convinced me again that I made the right choice.
  7. we have about 500 miles on our SXT/AWD and have not noticed any unusual patterns. It is very smooth and quiet. I have noticed that the quicker and harded you accelerate at crusing speed may cause the transmission to downshift 2 gears instead of 1 but nothing different than what I would have suspected. We will continue to watch for this issue. tool6996 did you learn anything form the dealer?
  8. jaymista, it depends on a few factors, where do you live? Do you see much snow and ice during the winter? Do you do much highway speed driving on on curvy roads, is there a lot of rain? Having had RWD, FWD, 4WD and AWD over the years it would be a challenege for us to do without 4WD or AWD. That is a matter of being in the midwest where we have a lot of ice and snow in the winter and many of a regular trips are on curvy 2 lane roads. If I had the latitude to stay off the roads when the conditions were less than desirable....would be different. In my mind the small loss in gas milage versus the increased peace of mind and safety made it an easy decison for us. If were farther south might be a different decision. Good luck on your choice.....best part is, there are no bad choices.
  9. I agree, after a little time with our SXT/AWD, I am not real crazy about the silver trim nor the obtrusive filler plate, then again if that is the only issue I ahve with in the interior......it must tell you something about how nicely the rest of it is laid out. After week 1 and 300 miles......the pleasure factor continues to raise......still happy with our choic ena dthe options chosen. Still don't have any regrets.
  10. Aso nice feature is the removable rubber insert that can be cleaned if needed. Most regular style cell phones appear to fit, the Balckberry sytler will too wide fo that compartment but with such a deep console......no worries.
  11. hooks the same as our SXT AWD.......would have been nice on both seat backs.....I can see why they would not be on the second row, in the way when you fold the seats down. No doubt the same issue for the 3rd row if so optioned. The casrgo/net is handy already used it a couple times....nice little touch.
  12. We ordered Friday April 4th, and it was delivered to the dealer Wednesday May 7th. We picked it up Friday the 9th. We did not order the Navigation system. I was told 6-8 weeks, we received ours in 5.
  13. We have a SXT and the hooks are only on the drivers seat, not on the passenger side. There are no hooks on the second row. We have the 5 seat version.

    Tire sizes

Hopefully other manufacturers will also be making these tires as time goes on, 19" wheels are becoming more common. The ride and handling seem very nimble, it is very stable and predictable. I am a big fan of the appearance of the 19" wheels, I like the satin alloy finish better than the chrome, but nice to have so many choices, 17" or 19" wheels.....chrome or cast aliminum. "You pays your money and you makes your choice"
  15. Well, that is going to be one busy Journey! Based on that, I could certainly see the 7 seater version being very useful for your family. You'll make a good choice! Enjoy!
  16. It is a personal preference based on your projected needs, if you have smaller children I think it would be great, it is really small for an adult. At 6'1" 180, it was a chore to get settled in and for a distance it would be cramped. for the 8-13 year old crowd it would be terriffic. There is the storage space issue too, without the 3rd row yoou really do have some handy additional space. We noticed most of the Journey's on the lots were 7 seaters, I wonder if the customer ordering process supports that trend? We chose the 5 and no regrets.
  17. That is an alarming story, and I think the advice from others is valid. I will have to say my experience was 180 degrees different. The selection and ordering portion of our purchase was a breeze. Friday evening when we picked the the SXT up was a cool gray rainy day, but they had the car in the service bay completely detailed. He went over the order sheet again with us to make sure everything matched our expectations. We spent a few minutes with the business manager on paperwork and then about an hour or so with the salesman going over all cars features and functions. In the salesmans description the car was delievered to them with 11 miles, they do the prep work and then an approximate 10 miles shakedown cruise to test everything. We picked the car up with 21 miles and have noticed absolutely no issues. I thought this was the best dealer experience we have had and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I do know there are follow up surveys from Chrysler and you will have any opportunity to let them know what happened, but certainly give the dealership the chance to make it right. I will check into the lighted footwell issue, I don't remember seeing the lights on at night but won't swear to it one way or the other, I think I would have noticed it.
  18. We chose the 5 passenger version, with the booster seat option. With the limited number of times we would use the 2 additional seats it made sense for us. The booster seats from what we can tell so far are an ingenious solution to the very important but often cumbersome child safety and restraint needs. Rob's concept of oredering so you never have to say "I should have...." is certainly valid for a growing active family, and I would guess based on how long you keep the Journey, it would be a plus in the resale value.
  19. well looks like we Journey owners cover the whole spectrumof life experience, we have 4 girls 2 now married with 3 grandkids, all here in town. Brenda, we purchased the SXT/AWD. We added the Convenience Group 1, the Premium Convenience Group, Infinity Sound, Family Value Group, Safe and Sound Group and Power Sunroof. KWIRGES, we are on the northeast side of Indy, I also work downtown but my wife gets the Journey. I have only seen 1 other on the road, actually at the grocery store. We hope to put soem miles on this upcoming weekend, but the first few days have very positive. Looking back I would not change a thing about the selections. We'll keep an eye out for you.
  20. We purchased the lifetime bumper to bumper $100 deductable per event coverage for $1695. We traditionally have been keeping cars 10-15 years, alternating between the 2 every 7or 8 so it is nice not to have to worry. With the MyGig, climate control etc.....just peace of mind. 7 years down the road and something happens.......I do not want a bad surprise. If we traded more often, might have thought differently.
  21. We picked up our new Black SXT AWD Friday evening, we had ordered 04/04/08 so the 6-8 weeks turned out to be 5 weeks of waiting. We bought it without a trade, and found it to be a pretty nice transaction. The dealership was pleasant to work with and the salesman a really nice, no pressure guy. After early discussions he really encouraged us to order and get what we wanted. So, we went 5 passenger, sunroof, both convenience packages, MiGig, Safe and Sound. We passed on Nav, smokers, towing packages and the chrome wheels as well as rear DVD. The car is really attractive and well thought out, just he little things like the hooks for the plastic grocery bags and the seat back make you realize some thought went into this. For me, the fit and finish compared to the Eqinox were worlds apart, the GM was a big disappointment especially for the same money. Early impressions are nothing but positive, already know some people who said they will be looking at a Journey now after seeing ours. I though the tailgate might have been motorized, no big deal, the MyGig is very cool, the dash is nice. The LED interior lights are different but I like them, very very quiet. Like the booster seats for the grandson, backup camera is a nice safety feature I never imagined I would worry about....must come with age. Only put about 150 miles on so far, so no distance driving impressions, but for town very peppy, handles well in the rain. At this point neither of us would have ordered anything differently, looking forward to a few weeks of learning and enjoying our Journey in more ways than one.
  22. Well we are now new Journey Owners. We ordered a black with tan inerior SXT AWD on April 4th. It was delivered to the dealer May7th and we picked it up Friday May 9th. It replaced a 1999 Dodge Intrepid, we bought in 2001 with 19K miles. It had been a Chrysler program car and over our time of ownership a very good car. Despite all the negatives about the 2.7 engined version our 3.2 ES model was rock solid. Our other vehicle is 2000 Tahoe, so we have a something for pulling the boat etc. During my wife's new car search she originally saw the Journey on a internet ad in mid-March, we started looking at several different cross over style vehicles and quite hinestly, nothing really compared to us. I was originally convince an Equinox or the Pontiac Torrent was going to be the choice, but a few minutes with the Journey totally turned my mind upside down. As the now empty nester targeted owners (3 girls out of college and one with 2 years left) I think we probably fit the profile Dodge anticipated. Sedans are boring, a minivan was totally unacceptable, already have a SUV that gets poor mileage (not a surprise just fact). So 3 days into ownership and 180 miles later I'll post a new update in the "It's here" section. Good to hear the stories and look forward many years of rewarding ownership.
