2011 Journey LUX missing something...

Maybe I am acting spoiled or being very picky but I would like to add a rear VES to my LUX!!

Here's the back story. (KIND OF A LONG POST  ) When we purchased our journey it was late on a friday night and my son (2yo) :baby: was fussy. My husband was talking to one person and I was talking to another so it might have been lost in translation that night. The lady claims she showed my husband where they would install the dvd and told him that if we installed an aftermarket dvd we would loose the ac controls, not true. My husband was never shown/told we'd loose the controls :glare: . All I was told was to pick what color for the dvd we wanted. Yes, we should have been more attentive  but I was already preoccupied with my son. Long story short, we got home at 10:30pm :boring: and had set a date to have the dvd installed.

First, we drop off the car and were told we would get a rental meanwhile they did the undercoating and the dvd so that I could run my errands. No Rental. (I don't drive stickshift
:shift:
and my husband had worked the whole night and had to sleep before work again that day). I guess it can wait for tomorrow, :shrug:luckily it wasn't anything urgent.

Second, when we went back to pick up our car, it wasn't what I imagined or saw in the catalog. I had chose a black one and it was a poopy brown color, the hinges of the monitor weren't symmetrical, meaning it was snapped out of place and the whole dvd itself looked a little loose from the ceiling. I mentioned it to the guy who turned over our car and showed him the hinges, all he did was pull down the monitor and say "oh but it still opens." Not my point  , I wasn't going to pop it in then be blamed for it later. I want quality work!

Anyway, my husband and I aren't the type to get upset or demand much but we paid for quality since its from the dealership I expected it as well.

After we established that I couldn't keep my rear controls, I was told to bring it back Friday (three days later) so they can install the black one I wanted. I had a trip planned but agreed to bring it by Tuesday. Since I am not happy with their service or dvd/monitor quality I have been doing some research :stats:. I have looked online for part numbers and various dvd monitors and have hit a wall. I was researching to see if a ves for a 2010 journey would be compatible with my 2011 LUX so that I could keep my rear HVAC controls. I found a few different part numbers and called the sites/dealers that sold them. :call: ..all to which said there were none for a sunroof/rear hvac option. I have seen the 2010 rear ves with the rear hvac and sunroof. Someone I spoke to said that it might not be possible because the wiring might be different but I'm sure they can custom wire it right? (really wish they could) Has anyone tried to find out if it is at all a possibility? or has anyone actually installed a rear ves from a 2009/10? I would LOVE to have that instead of the cheap one the dealer installed and overcharged us for so that I can manage it from the dash.

If I definitely have no real option to install the rear ves so that I can control from the dash then I might as well go all out and still save $200!! I found a dvd/ps2 combo with installation and I would save 200 bux after the dealer charges me to uninstall their overpriced one :spend: . (Had I done this originally I'd save 400 bux!)

I called today to find out exactly what they would charge to remove theirs and they said that if I decided to have them install the black one I had originally asked for they would install an alarm system free of charge ($300 value) and integrate the button to my key fob. I am unsure what we'll decide.

I hope I didn't loose anyone along the way.

:backtotopic:

Bottomline: 1) Can I install a 2010 journey Rear VES to my 2011? If not; 2) Do I keep the black dvd they'd install and have a free alarm system also :surrender: or 3) remove theirs (pay 200) and install one I would like and save $200 :woohoo: .
