I have a UK 2.0 diesel with a faulty (thinks) gearbox.
Its a 6 speed auto with 2 clutches.
I have been having increasingly intermittent problems ranging from faulure to rev when comming out of neutral into forward or reverse to
Limp mode giving 2nd/rev only.
My local garage has tested and said its showing an internal controller fault.
Does this mean its the TCM.
If so am trying to souce a TCM at a price a lot less than the £2k+ the dealer wants + fitting.
They want £8k for a gearbox.
Any help would be appreciated from sourcing a new TCM/second hand auto box or help from Chrysler UK given its only 3 months out of warranty and only covered 56k miles.

Hi,
Had my letter re air bag warning recall this week.
Had problems before with passenger (LHS/UK) window stuck down and dealer said it was a broken wire in the drivers door(RHS/UK).
Last week had problems with central locking not working on remote or door switches, then next minute all
ok and for the last week as well. Now the recall. Anyone know if all the above is related to the door wiring harness and the likyhood of fixing all the above.

32K miles and second set of front pads still ok and rears are original.
But vibration now set in so ordered -
1 set front disks EBC GD7442 (£120.98) premium quality dimpled and slotted sport +
1 set front pads EBC DP61798 (£61.74) upgraded greenstuff.
Edit, just fitted the above today and vibration mainly gone. still bedding in < 20 miles.
Easy to fit, apart from disks stuck on and needed some welly to get off.

Go slower next time, these shifter are more fragile than you think, you might end up breaking it.
I have a few customer broke the piece of plastic that attach the lever to the cable, because the pull on it too hard or too fast.
Thanks Steak,
Merry Christmas

The WIN module do a lot of things. It is an electronic device that wraps around the Ignition Cylin. It tells the PCM the Key position,if the right key is inserted, and it has solenoid that release the Key when you put the car in park.
It also does a lot of other things like Picking up tire pressure sensor signal and remote keyless entry, etc...
Give your dealership a call. There is a STAR tech tip on what you are experiencing, if they look it up, they probably will just fix it.
If they give you hard time about it, just act all upset with your car, and threaten to trade it in and never buy a Dodge product again.
Hi,
I have had this several times before on my deisel automatic.
key needs to come out in park but if I go into park too quickly it won't come out.
So I put in neutral rev once them go to park and it comes out.

If it is the "Check Engine" Light that is part of the OBDII system and a user can not reset it. You have to correct the problem
first and then allow the system to reset itself. These lights can be as simple a problem as the gas cap not being on tight
enough, or as complex as a engine misfire. At least have someone read the code and see what it could be. Many Auto Stores
provide these services.
I have the light on only twice and the reason being a flat battery.
It took a few miles (<20) of driving before it went out on its own.
Maybe this was after the canbus adjusted itself after false default settings.
Book says if its a constant light it may be ok but if its flashing do not drive as it may damage the exhaust system.

Awesome news!
My journey is one yr old tomorrow, done 22k miles, original pads and disks though I am thinking of replacing soon with UK spec disks and pads.
No brake judder ever, though the usual black stuff alll over hence UK spec next.
I do tow a rib boat and horses as well but am not into severe braking, speed possibly but not braking.

I pull a horse trailer @850Kg + horse @500Kg no problem. Its a good job the car is rated @1360Kg. Its the same 2.0 diesel as wolf but I think the 2.4 petrol is rated a little less but should be no problem at all. I have a USA 7 pin wiring kit for sale that I purchased in error I have since fitted a UK 13pin socket.i haul this little trailer i had made with my little old 4 cylinder diesl here in the UK, and the trailer is rated at 1000KG payload all up!! so a few dirt bikes should be a breeze!!! its got a floor pan of 8 feet x 4 feet (internal) to give you an idea of the size!! hope this helps -
Hi Stoogie,
Radio outage happend to me twice. 1st time out for 24 hrs. Second time I took advice from another Journey user and pulled out the 'big' fuse and replaced after 1 min. It does not actiually come out just up a bit. That fixed it.
Go to http://www.mofv.com/mygig/ to get UK journey gracenotes 1289. I have installed this and its fine but still get lots of CD's not recognised.
Cheers.
So, it came back to life the next morning... go figure ! I checked with the garage and I do have the latest software according to them, so will need to keep an eye on it... They thought they had had a new software version come in in the last couple of day, but the UK Journey software (REU?) is not the same package as the one they received...One other quick question... What is the latest Gracenote version for a UK Journey MyGig? I have 882 and looking at places like MoFv there are higher versions, but confused about which set (i.e.: 88x or 10xx) it is I should be looking at.
TIA!

I was originally told press the button 3 times too by the dealer. I can't remember if was the handbook or Dodge UK Customer Services told me to press it four times then the car will 'beep' telling you the sensors are disabled.
Still, the fix is in place now so go back to the dealer and get them to order the parts. They come in a small poly bag and you get two sensors that match the colour of the roof light fittings, you also get some wiring and instructions. My dealer hadn't done one before and as it took less than an hour I'm guessing it must be pretty straight forward.
Day 2 and the Alarm has not gone off in error.
Cheers!
Hi Guys,
Nice to know there ias a fix as mine has gone off several times, mostly at 3am, but also during the day.
I think they were all false alarms and I did not know it could be disabled but did here the beep and wondered what that was.
My dealer has lost the dealership and I will wait until a new dealer is in place as the nearest is some 20 miles away.
Might wait now until the 1st service at 12K, its done 5k now.

I did, I thought I would have to have the rear end torn apart for a bad wire or something, but the fix for me was easy. Take the flashlight apart, it is pretty simple just snaps together, remove the battery and push the contacts in a little, if they are not dead on the battery the circuit inside the flashlight will not charge the battery. Might be a different problem than mine, but it worked for me.
Same thing for me. Dealer said it happens a lot. He just took the torch apart and adjusted contacts. No other work needed.

One of them have the 1.9TDI and the other the 2.0T.
No diesel in Canada for the Journey. Not because we don't want it! 99% of time, we have what USA want. So, if USA don't want diesel, Canada won't have it!
The VW 6 speed DSG is from BorgWarner and the Dodge 6 speed DCT is from Getrag.
Dodge must have had a special bell housing etc made to interface between them.
It must have been worth it financially.
I wish they had put in the 2.0 common rail VW engine but this is so new that only the newer VW cars models have it never mind the 3rd party car manufacturers.
The newer engine is much quieter and I need to sort that out next. But it will have to wait as I spent £1000 on ordering accessories for the Journey yesterday, some of which I have posted on here.
-
Two guys I know did the same thing to their VW engine, and they also got better MPG... only if you drive the same way as before the tuning.
If its a 2.0 138HP its the same engine.
I know this engine is not available in the Journey in US. How about Canada?
There are memberson this forum with it from Europe and Australia.
I think its also the vw/audi 6 speed auto box as well which would make lots of mechanical sense.

Look for Dodge Journey 2.0L TDI.
It increases BHP by 30
Torque by 60NM
Economy by 10-20%
Now if this wre true I would have one.
Rumour says I had this done yesterday at a cost of £295 fitted.
Performance vastly increased.
Driveability much better and stays in higher gear longer in the auto box.
Economy up from 34MPG to 38 MPG.
and finally its like pulling the 2.0 and putting in a 3.0
Early days yet re mpg.
I am doing 700 mile next weekend so will update after that.
Or so the romour says .............
I could not possibly comment.
Can I ask if the Journey is calibrated in UK mpg or US mpg as there is a big difference?

Hi Guys,
As a UK Journey owner, its not easy to find accessories and at sensible prices.
After lots of searching for accessories, mainly on USA sites of which I have been burnt, I tracked these -
http://www.autoxclusive.com/xclusiveshop/p...e7b4d6a0f973224
I emailed vmaxx in Germany re availability in UK but the very quick response (<20 mins) was that I need to order from the German web site.
Having looked at this the site seems OK.
UK based guys try -
Brochure - http://www.vmaxx.de/brochures/DODGE_Journey.pdf
prices - http://www.vmaxx.de/create_pdf.php?fz=65&a...e=DODGE_Journey
I for one will be making a purchase. ie -
Bumper cover
http://www.vmaxx.de/en/public/?fz=65&c...p;count_index=0
and
Door sill panel
http://www.vmaxx.de/en/public/?fz=65&c...p;count_index=0
They also seem cheaper than USA sites.
John
Update -
Having just registered on the vmaxx site it does say delivery to EU countries only.
So if you are not in the EU sorry guys, but then we in the EU have had this on USA sites as well.

We just returned from an 1800 mile trip in our new Journey. We bought the car on the 16th of June, and on the 18th of June headed from the Dallas - Fort Worth area to the mountains of north east Georgia.
The Journey is pretty much a basic car, four cylinder with the four speed transmission. As with any car there is the few anxious moments of hitting the road, but I have to say we loved it! From the plains of Texas, through the delta of Louisiana, and the hills and mountains of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia the car performed flawlessly! I had no trouble keeping up with traffic in the metro areas, and on the interstates. I have figured our gas at about an average of 23 mpg.
All in all ..a great car with no issues yet......
Was the car new and if so you must have seen the mpg improve over the first 1500 miles?

Hi all...
Newbie here! Just took delivery of my New Journey RT. Can anyone tell me where these light are located? I've searched the manual, the web and until finding this site, haven't found anything that can tell me about them!
Obove your head and also towards the back. 8 leds in 4 pairs, inc 1 cluster of 4 if you have them as not all Journeys have led lights for some unknown reason to me.
The driver/front passenger led lights are with the glasses/rear morror location.
-
Fold them in and backup really really fast....they might open.
I tried that the other days and now the post I hit has left a yellow stain down my bumper.
No its not my Journey but my old Laguna thank god.
The mirrow trick really does work but only to open not close when you park like lots of other cars. Pitty.
There really is no other hardware required just programming given the car knows your speed and the motor exists in the mirror.

Nope. I will take some and post them up. Just need to wait for some daylight.
Don't tell me Ausie has not had any daylight yet.
Even us pommies have had some of that.

Hi,
Has anyone had a towbar fitted.
My dealer has quoted 280 pounds fitted, which may not be too bad.
I have tried and failed to locate a mopar wiring kit in the UK to ensure sway control etc ok.
Ordered one from an american site but so far I get the message when logged in 'awaiting processing'
I have sent emails but no reply.
What happened to American service?
John
For info this is makeitdodgeparts.com
Ordered on the 13th and still no reply.
Anyone dealt with them?

Sorry, I have been away for a while. I installed a scrap gearbox @£1400 inc fitting as opposed to £8000 +fitting+20%vat which is about £11000. Absolute rip off.
