  1. Thanks for the info !! To you all

Not sure if you completed the work yet or not but there is a grommit that is easy to get to approx 3" in diameter on the fire wall to the left of the brake pedal. I have a 0 guage power wire running through there now. I try to avoid running through steering column.

On a side not the in floor cargo area in the back is a perfect place to mount your amp. I have two amps in there now and it perfectly hides everything...

    cheers

  2. I had to replace my wipers and of course even the dealers don't have replacements yet.

I had to buy three sets to replace the fronts that are different sizes and the rear.

Getting the front replaced was not too bad. You just take the current holders and on one end you will see it has been crimped to the rubber refill. If you use a screwdriver you can pry it open and get the blade out. You can then slide in a replacement.

The rear was a pain to just get off. I went to several mechanics and several dealers trying to figure it out and accidently found the answer. First you have to slightly pull the cover apart at the pivot point and it flips back on a hinge. This allows you to lift the blade off the glass to 90 degrees. Then you rotate the blade backward like you are going to have it go backwards on the glass and when it hits the stop, go just a bit further and it will pop off.

Once the replacements hit you can just replace the whole piece but for now, you need to just pry one end of the rubber up a bit to clear the catch and it will slide out with some effort. You can then slide a new one back in. and reinstall it.

You would think Dodge would get replacement parts like wipers out to the dealers right way but it's already been 6 months since I bought mine and they still don't have blades.

Anyone know of a place to buy new ones that are high quality? The ones I got as replacements are not that good and winter is coming soon. I live in Colorado so it gets pretty tough on blades.

How could you have needed to replace your wipers already? Thats crazy!!! Ive probably only used mine 30 times in 4 months...

  3. On the vehicle we replaced with the Journey, it also had a sunroof. Now when you would power the car off, about 30sec later the sunroof would return to the closed position no matter if you had it vented or completely open. Now I am used to that and have been leaving the Journey sun roof open and luckily I have remembered before some storms have rolled thru but I know I'm going to forget. Anyone have any ideas, products that they can think of that I can install on the Journey to get that ability?

    Thanks

I know you can add an aftermarket security system that has outputs for sunroofs/locks/windows and such so that when you arm the alarm the moonroof will close.

  4. just cracked 7300km on mine this week.

But thats with overly excessive driving for me, including working 250kms out of town for a month so I drove up and back each weekend, then we just drove to cape cod and back from ontario which is like 800 km each way.

Other than that I drive 3 km to work each day lol.

Traded in our 04 liberty in May with 42000 km on it :P

  5. Just got back from a trip to Cape Cod from Ontario.

AVG'd approx 24mpg with all 5 seats full (4 adults, 1 toddler) and the cargo area so full i couldnt see out the back. This was with cruise set between 65-72 mph. (6 cyl SXT)

I have to say the journey performed amazing on the trip. Very comfortable ride for being 8 hrs each way.

I have yet to find a speed in which I can get above the 25mpg range though. Just cracked 7300km though so engine isnt broken in yet...

  6. yes we have an sxt with the same noise and had it to the dealer for a fix but they have yet not found the problem it is very annoying and dissapointing because other than the noise its a great automobile

we need a fix asap pronto....

Just an update, its been since monday now. Squeak in rear suspension has not returned nor has the rubbing noise in front driverside wheel. All the tech did was apply some sort of lube and its good... ive put 200 miles on since then so its well driven...

  7. had dealer look at my journey today when i got the 1st service done. Ended up being a relative of mine doing the work so i told him about the squeak in the back and the noise in the front left wheel also. He sprayed some sort of lube on the components in and around there and the noises are gone?

i barely heard the front wheel once so far but the squeak in the back suspension hasnt been back yet. I will keep you posted, could be a simple fix

  8. I've had my Journey about six weeks and notice a distinct "rubbing" noise when I turn left. My service center "could not duplicate" the noise and found nothing out of place when they checked under the vehicle.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

    Yup same problem here,

been almost the same amount of time, i first noticed it about 3 weeks ago.

I also have a squeak sound coming from my driverside rear wheel when i hit certain bumps

  9. Had my buddy/installer do a little mod to my Journey. Big thanks to Jeff at Bestbuy in Kingston, Ont. Sounds phenomonal!!!

  10. Does anyone know how to disable the security alarm on the Journey? Every time it is activated and the remote's removable key is put into the lock, it goes off. Or, can anyone tell me how to prevent this from happening?

Dont take this the wrong way but why not just use the keyless entry option on your key fob?

When you press unlock it disarms the alarm at the same time? I also think that I read in the manual if you press the lock button inside the doors when you are getting out it doesnt arm the alarm so if you used the key it wouldnt go off getting back in...

  11. Did upgrades on all the speakers and added amps, entire audio system is JBL Power Series Amps, Subs and Speakers.

Couldnt handle the sound quality of the stock head unit anymore although I loved the integrated ipod and steering wheel controls.

    So I ordered a Kenwood dnx-7120...

Its double din size for stock fit and has integrated Garmin GPS, touchscreen functionality.

Should be much better, I will be adding the steering wheel remote adapter eventually and the deck has rear usb input for ipod control so its all good.

    Cant wait!

Next will be to build the sub enclosure and finish the cargo area install.

PS wiring harness is expensive as hell for these beauties :) also need an antenna adaptor that also works with volkswagens and mounting brackets

very expensive venture on my part

  12. you use it similar to a manual transmission in the sense that you shift gears as RPMs dictate or torque needed. I find its nice when on the highway and you need immediate power and can see it being useful for winter driving up here in the snowy north.

I suppose technically it could improve milage but that would take some getting used to in terms of finding the sweet spot.

Would also be useful if you were towing something as you can keep to lower gears when necessary.

  13. I had an 04 liberty up until this week. What I loved about the Jeep was that it was fun to drive, sporty and awesome to drive in nasty weather because of the 4wd.

So far my impressions of the Journey are spectacular. The ride is soooo much smoother than the jeep and its so much quieter. It is less "peppy" as it seems geared more for smooth riding rather than towing and off roading but it also changes gears much smoother. The only thing I can see missing about the jeep is when winter comes and not having the 4wd but time will tell.

this guy has no regrets for the swap!

  14. 1st impressions are so awesome. Drives very nice and coming from my 04 Liberty it makes seem even smoother im sure.

    Got the FWD SXT black.

I love the 19" Wheels, they look very nice from a distance.

  15. I had the same Problem with the Whistle in the Dash, the salesman told me that he had service fix it, but when I went to pick up my new journey it was still there. But when I originally had looked at the car there was a peace of plastic in the glovebox that said airflow on it, so I told them to make sure it goes back to where it should be... and again they promised but didnt' fix it. Anyways....

If your vehicle has the Air filter for the A/C I would check your manual it gives instructions on how to install an air filter, for some reason mine was missing the cover and causeing it to whistle because the air filter was not secure. I had to go and pick up the extra part at the stealer and install it myself but it did fix one of 2 whistle noises. The other whistle noise was coming from the air flow control mondule in the upper glove box, at High speed on the fan that one will also whistle unless the valve is open. So Check that one as well.

I hope you have better luck then me with your Journey, I have put 100km's on mine, and alreay have the check engine light on and ESP-BAS lights, and a stained Headliner, and floor. And A dealership that will no provide a rental, even thoug the car is 2 days old... but hopefully all my issues will be resolved as well. I love the car too, so it's a shame all these things have happened.

Wow thats not good luck at all. What caused the stains? Is it a leak or just normal use?

    Not good
