So I bought a Tow Ready wiring harness, same as the Curtis one. It requires that you run a wire from the module all the way to the front positive post on the battery, why cant i just tie into the red 12 wire and safe myself running the wire all the way to the front.
thats exactly what i did! works perfectly

anyone happen to have the dealer procedure for activating the harness? my dealer wants me to bring them the proceedure, they have no clue

Could you take 4 close up photos of the wire area on the 3 relays and the connector to the Journey. Don't need the trailer connector since it's visible in one of your photos. I'll match that up with what I have already figure out. If the photos are clear enough I can likely make a schematic from them. I'd also like a picture of the relay brand and part number if they are marked.
Traced out the wiring on the connector. The part is made by Delphi and is in their standard catalog so depending on who carries them they should not be too hard to find. The mating part is 12103974 which is the part you see the connector plugged into. All you need to turn the dummy connector into a live one is the pins and wire seals. The pin I think is 12045773 0.80-0.50 Tin Brass Tin plus the wire seals. If you interested look at the Delphi Catalog starting around page 2.12.
There are two row of pins with 3 on the top and 2 on the bottom. If you have the connector facing you, wires away from you, the pins are as follows.
Red (12V), White w/Orange Stripe (One of the relay drivers), Black w/Yellow Stripe (Ground)
White w/Green Stripe (One of the relay drivers), White w/Gray Stripe (One of the relay drivers)
The power is available even with the vehicle has not been flashed. I don't know which output drives Lt Turn/Stop, Rt Turn/Stop and Taillights until it's flashed.
One of the things I don't like about the factory connections is that it looks like they use 18GA wire. That seems a bit light to me mainly for the ground. If you were going to use this cable plus a 7 pin connector it would be easy to beef up the ground and get additional power from the battery for the Aux Power, Backup Lights if used and Brakes.
did you get it flashed yet? do you know what wires are for turns, tails, stops?

i just called my local dealer and he wasnt aware of this part so i gave him the part number and my vin# and he called me back and said yes he wasnt aware of this,But yes it can be done and he said he would charge me 305 for the system and 90 for the install and since i am a chry. retiree i get 25% off of parts total cost should be about $365. so i told him to order it and will be about one week till i can have it in.. i told him that since most of the journeys on his lot didnt have the backup cam but had the 8.4 screen it should be a great upsell for his service dept, and he needs to adv. to his custermers. i have been trying since 2011 to get a rear cam back up sys. for this vec and the cheapset i had ever found was after market for 700 installed at a classic car store. but wanted a oem sys... this blog is really great for sharing ideas and for help... thanks for the tip spl147 i fgured for less than 90 id let the dealer do it you might want to price it with your local dealer also since you will have to pay him $50. to add the sales code ALOT EASIER and then comes with12/12k warrenty
glad i could help!!

have you checked with your local dealer to find out if and how much for them to add the code to your computer for it to work?
yep...a buddy of mine knows the service manager at the local dealership...he said $50

also you have to have re2/ re4 radio only for it to work. i have printed the paperwork and am going to check my local delaer with my vin # and have him see if this can be done and how much they would charge ill post next week after i find out. as i have been wanting to update my 8.4 with the rear cam but all the dodge dealers have told me no way, and i didnt want to use aftermarket parts such as lockpic as ive heard their parts are not up to standard.
i have the RE2 radio

I have the lock pick with the 8.4.
Works fine, and allows for more cams, and use on command.
AND you can use ANY cam you want.
not looking to hack or use aftermarket parts....
i want a clean oem install.....

68080977AC is a valid Mopar part number for wiring. List price is $86.35 and there are currently 176 in the US National parts depot.
is part # 68080973AA the same part?

i will be doing this install next month.......using the parts from the above link......

did you check EBAY. Also call your local dodge dealership as it is a mopar part and prob only available through them. There is a lot of aftermarcket ones but I wouldn't trust them.
found it here:

now i just need the harness...cant find it on any websites

Your build sheet should also say "AHT" if you have the trailer tow package and "XFUP" Trailer Tow W/4-Pin Connector Wiring. Did you not get the harness?
my build sheet has neither of those.....
but i found this behind the bumper above the drivers side exhaust tip
-
also as you didn't order the prep package that you do not have the extra oil cooler so your towing capacity is drastically hit from 2500 LBS down to about 1000 LBS towing capacity...
actually on my build sheet it has:
NHAP Engine Oil Cooler -
has anyone purchased the OEM backup camera and installed it? we did not get it installed but want to add it now....
-
i did not order the tow prep package, but the connector behind the bumper is there....
-
can someone tell me the part # of the harness that comes in the bag?

go with the curt hitch and the curt T-connector harness. way cheaper and much nicer. i went with the factory harness at first, had nothing but issues, installed the curt T-connector harness, and have never looked back.....less than $200 and towing like a champ!!!!
