  1. I've been looking into this also. The iphone has been upgraded to allow notifications to be sent via bluetooth (ie. text messages etc through IMAP I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong) but the uconnect system has not been configured to play nice with the iphone... kind of a piss off considering the product is advertised to have such capabilities. As for Sergio driving a Ford.... HA! Why would anyone with as much $$ as that guy jump into a Ford?

Overall I've been really happy with my Uconnect so far (8.4N), the only thing I really wish it could do was display song titles/artist info via bluetooth streaming and the text messaging. When the iPhone is connected via USB I get all of the music info plus the ability to sort by artist, song title as well as a manual search.

  2. I don't think the Rallye is available in that colour... I just ordered my Rallye (took delivery June 3, pictures to come shortly) and the colours available are:

    -Bright Red Clearcoat

    -Bright Silver Metallic Clearcoat

    -Brilliant Black Crystal Pearlcoat

    -Pearl White Tri-Coat

    -Storm Grey Pearlcoat

    -White.

The R/T's can get the Fathom Blue Pearlcoat, but I don't think that is the same colour you showed in that picture. Although I really do love that blue. I totally would have ordered that colour if you could get it on the Rallye edition.

  3. If you have an awd Journey I would be concerned about the loss of ability to rotate your tires which is supposed to be done in order to reduce premature wear. If you don't have awd then no problems. They look killer though! I'd love to see some pictures of the post install.

  4. Thanks for your opinion davidlb512. You many continue to call you DJ what ever you like. Please note, however, that I prefaced my statements very clearly by saying that it was my opinion that the DJ is not a truck.

Any perceived personal issues are clearly yours, and they should be dealt with accordingly.

  5. In my mind... no box or flat deck or fifth wheel hitch=no truck. Except for El Caminos... those are just weird in an awesome sort of way.

Edit: Full size SUV's are still not trucks in my mind. It is an SUV, so call it an SUV.

  6. Well, our new Journey arrived at my dealership today. First thing I did was break out the Dire Straits CD in my car and loaded it in. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the sound of the system. Good, clean power, clear highs and definitely tight bass. I'm not one for overpowering bass unless that is how the artist intended it, but this system is definitely not lacking. I did not have to increase it more than a couple of bars on the EQ to suit my taste. I went to the back of the car and listened to the sub and it is definitely moving air. I have to assume that the latest software flash has improved its performance or Alpine has re-engineered the crossover in the amp. My opinion, however, is based on this threads' observations vs. what I have heard today. And please bear in mind that I only got to sample the system for a few minutes. But I liked what I heard. Right now the car is up on the lift getting the hitch and splash guards put on. Tomorrow we'll finish prepping it, and I'll take delivery on Saturday after work. Looking forward to more music!!

You sir, have just increased my excitement for the arrival of my DJ... the one I test drove was definitely not moving air. Alas, I'm still close to 3 weeks out. ):

  7. Ok, I think this might be an interesting discussion. How many people refer to the Journey as a truck? It bothers me when CUV's and SUV's are referred to as trucks, because in my mind they are not. Unless it has a box or a fifth wheel hitch it is not a truck in my mind.

Who's with me? Against me? Any justifications to calling it a truck? Aaaaannd..... go!

  8. I haven't picked up my DJ yet (not due until the 3rd of June), but I remember what it sounded like when I test drove a similar model with the upgraded sound package. I specifically noted the lack of bass impact for a vehicle that had a subwoofer. Looking at the TSB that Chris had posted the bulletin only affects DJ's with a build date before April 6, my DJ should then theoretically have had the update from factory. If biohazard doesn't post his results before I get my DJ I'll post back what my impressions are vs. what I noticed during my test drive.

  9. That's unfortunate to hear, I was hoping they would have found a fix for you. I guess we'll just have to wait until the bulletin comes out at the end of the month and see if that is going to make any difference. If anyone has taken the stock sub out of their Journey, I would be interested to learn the results of hooking it up to an aftermarket amp to see if you can actually drive the thing to sound like a sub. It would at least point us in some direction as to whether the amp is sending the right signal to the sub. Alternatively, hook an after market sub to the amp and see what happens.
