  1. Thx for the reply Bugs. I did try your suggestion and waited for the prompt after saying 'call' but the name still isn't stored. My concern with this theory, is that saying "Call House" is the same concept as saying "Phonebook New Entry" as advised in the manual, so saying "Call House" should work. So, this morning I used phonebook new entry and added my home number and called it "house" and stored it in the "home" entry (options were Home, Work, Mobile, Pager?). I then went back to the radio and clicked the Uconnect button, and spoke "Call house" and it dialed no problem, so that method works when there's a name stored. I was in and out of the car several times, removing the key from the ignition each time and so far it is still working. I will test it again tonight, and into tomorrow to see if/when it fails again. I'll keep you posted.

Dont you have to say: "Call John Home" or something like that. I have only used the uconnect a couple of times. But I think that was what I did.

  2. The info about the CD's comes from the MyGigs Gracenote database.

In the system info on the MyGig you can see what Gracenote version you have.

According to http://www.mofv.com/mygig/ the latest version is 1287 for the US.

The dealer should be able to update to the latest version.

I think the identification works by looking at the number of tracks and the lenght of the tracks.

A burnt cd might not work if it's not identical to the original cd.

  3. Does anyone else hear air releasing all the time? I took it in and they said it was the expansion valve. It is a low hissing noise. I have never had this in any of my vehicles.

Plus, my air is colder on the passenger side than on the drivers side and they told me it was that way in all of the Journeys? And it doesn't blow full force unless we are going over 55 MPH. The dealer keeps acting like I am crazy and said it didn't happen to them but I have had 3 different people with me notice it. Anyone else have this?

I also have noticed this "hissing" and wondered what it is.

It seams to be connected to the throttle - the more push the gas pedal down - the more the hissing sounds. You can say that the hissing is behaving the way the engine is. The more engine noise - the more hissing.

Is this the same for you?

About the cooling - idiot question: you know you can set the climate control separately for the left and right side (and rear) of the vehicle?

And have you checked the way the blowers is blowing the air? A draft can make it seam colder than it really is.

  4. Wow the install on the overhead is way too much for me, think I'll just go to target and get these

    http://www.target.com/RCA-Dual-Mobile-DVD-...;rh=&page=2

That way i can remove them and put them in one of the bins in the floor, that way no one will knock a window out to take them. I have the video line from the radio so i guess I will split it to run into both plus the kids can watch a movie and hook up headphones.

That's what I'm planning to do as well.

But I think I will by to separate units, not two screens to one dvd-player.

The kids are 3 and 6 years old - and don't really agree on movie choices ;-)

And on vacation you can take them with you out of the car and the kids can have one unit and me and my wife can have the other.

  5. Also in the EVIC menu, doesnt say INTERIOR DELAY, instead it has the HEADLIGHT (outside) DELAY light....does anyone know how to adjust the interior delay time? Does anyone's JOURNEY interior light turn ON when we turn off the Engine?? if so, how did you do it....?? Mine doesnt :( And its a bit annoying because when we turn off the engine and ready to get off from the car, i need to take all the stuff in the car out but the light doesnt turn ON so its hard to see all the stuff in the car that i want to take with me....:(

To get the interior light to turn on you have to twist the interior dimmer light control on step from the off-mode.

Its located on the headlights lever to the left of the steering wheel.

(Be ware thought that if someone has manually turned on the interior lights they will remain lit even after the car is locked).

Edit: Found in the manual that it WILL turn off to save battery. But it takes ten minutes.

  6. I also have a Journey R/T 2.7 V6 with the key fob without the panic button.

That has happened to me once to.

On unlock the horn sounded once.

In the US (downloaded) manual it says:

If something has triggered the alarm in your absence, the

horn will sound three times when you unlock the doors.

    Check the vehicle for tampering.

It doesn't say anything about sounding once though.

Although the manual do say that you can activate the horn to sound on lock:

Sound Horn with Remote Key Lock

This feature will cause the horn to chirp when the doors

are locked with the transmitter. This feature can be

turned on or turned off. To change the current setting,

    proceed as follows:

But this is only on lock. Not on open.

(And it says it will chirp - my was more like a short honk).

That makes me draw the conclusion that the horn sounding once on unlock is either:

Some type of notification of an error.

    Or a random fault.

But I would really like to know for sure as well.

  7. Hello everyone, yesterday while i was in the garage cleaning my DW Blue SXT journey, my son accidentally push the remote for the garage door and started to close. unfortunately the door in the back was open and was hit by the garage door. it got a 1/4 inch in diameter scratch just below the plate. Should i bring it to the dealer and have it repainted or is it okay to just use a touch up paint for it. Anyone knows how much is it to have it repainted? BTW im from New York.

Now you don't have a location to where you are in your profile. But I know that you US guys sometimes doesn't have the same level of insurance coverage that we have here in sweden. If this had happened to me I think that I could get the back door repainted - covered by my home insurance accident coverage (or what it now can be called in english). And this to a fixed sum.

If you have a home insurance - check with the insurance company if it could be covered.

    Is the paint completely gone?

If it's only scratched and the metall isn't visible it maybe could be possible to wet-sand the area and only apply clear coat?

  8. Apple is suppose to come out with the Iphone OS 3.0 this summer. They have info about it on apples site. The update 2.1 allowed the UConnect and Iphone to work. When the latest update 2.2 & 2.2.1 came out it stopped working. We can not go back to 2.1 either, so the OS 3.0 is our only hope for now.

I'm hoping for an updated firmware from Dodge for the MyGig long before that.

There is an updated firmware that do take care of this problem for the US MyGig, RER-version 9.807.

But not for the others yet. Please contact Dodge directly, not the reseller, about this. That could possibly put some pressure on them.

If not, our other hope is for iPhone OS 3.0 to take care of this…

  9. I think 3M has a protectant you can put on it before it gets soiled, but I think it is very specific to certain types of leather.

What type of leather is in the Journey??

The manual says that we should use Mopar® Total Clean and that:

"Your leather upholstery can be best preserved by regular

cleaning with a damp soft cloth. Small particles of dirt

can act as an abrasive and damage the leather upholstery

and should be removed promptly with a damp cloth.

Stubborn soils can be removed easily with a soft cloth

and Mopar® Total Clean. Care should be taken to avoid

soaking your leather upholstery with any liquid. Please

do not use polishes, oils, cleaning fluids, solvents, deter-

gents, or ammonia-based cleaners to clean your leather

upholstery. Application of a leather conditioner is not

required to maintain the original condition."

But my Journey had been used as a demo car when I bought it and the lighter colored leather on the fronts seats in the car were quite dirty.

I bought Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner and I were quite amazed with the result.

I did try on a small spot first and didn't see any miss coloring or removal or color on the leather.

Although I did get quite alarmed when looking on the cleaning cloth wile cleaning. It looked like the the product had removed some color from the leather - but i realized it were just a combination of the color of the cleaning liquid and the dirt - that produced nearly the same color as the seat :-)

Anyway I can't visually see any difference between the cleaned front seats and the never cleaned back seats.

All the dirt in all the small groves in the leather are completely gone. I also had a small scuff mark that also isn't as visible any longer.

I can highly recommend it - in fact I have bought several of their products and I can say that I like them a lot.

From their rim cleaner and tyre shine to micro fiber cloths.

  10. i was driving last night and i was slowing down from highway speed while pressing the brake the highbeam turned on and off a few times like i was flashing another driver but it was doing it by it self.i let off the brake and it went back to normal.then i pulled in to the mall parking lot and it did it again this time without the brake being pressed weird huh?... so i went in to the mall came out and it hant done it again.i tryed making it do it but it wont so if i tske it in they will probbly say im crazy!!! help please

A similar thing happened to me with a dodge ram a few years ago. But that time the horn would sound when pressing the brake.

Highly annoying when I was in the middle of the city at rush hour.

That time it was solved by replacing a faulty fuse.

But since you said it happened without pressing the brake it might not be the case with your car.

  11. Check your gas cap, that has turned the check engine light on in mine. After the cap was tightened it cleared.

The gas cap can make the "MIL" turn on, but it will also say "gASCAP” in the odometer if thats the case.

    Read this from the manual:

    24. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)

This light is part of an Onboard Diagnostic

system called OBD II. The OBD system monitors

emissions, engine, and automatic transaxle con-

trol systems. The MIL will turn on when the key is in the

ON position before engine start. If the MIL does not turn

on when turning the key from LOCK or ACC to ON, have

    the condition checked promptly.

Certain conditions such as a loose or missing gas cap,

poor fuel quality, etc., may illuminate the MIL after

engine start. The vehicle should be serviced if the MIL

stays on through several of your typical driving cycles. In

most situations, the vehicle will drive normally and will

    not require towing.

If the MIL flashes when the engine is running, serious

conditions may exist that could lead to immediate loss of

power or severe catalytic converter damage. (See page

    419 for more information.)

    CAUTION!

Prolonged driving with the MIL on could cause

further damage to the emissions control system. It

could also affect fuel economy and driveability. The

vehicle must be serviced before any emissions tests

    can be performed.

If the MIL is flashing while the engine is running,

severe catalytic converter damage and power loss

will soon occur. Immediate service is required.

    P. 419.

ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM — OBD II

Your vehicle is equipped with a sophisticated Onboard

Diagnostic system called OBD II. This system monitors

the performance of the emissions, engine, and automatic

transaxle control systems. When these systems are oper-

ating properly, your vehicle will provide excellent per-

formance and fuel economy, as well as engine emissions

    well within current government regulations.

If any of these systems require service, the OBD II system

will turn on the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). It will

also store diagnostic codes and other information to

assist your service technician in making repairs. Al-

though your vehicle will usually be drivable and not

need towing, see your authorized dealer for service as

    soon as possible.

    Loose Fuel Filler Cap Message

If the vehicle diagnostic system determines that the fuel

filler cap in loose, improperly installed, or damaged, the

word “gASCAP” will display in the odometer. If this

occurs, tighten the fuel filler cap until a “clicking” sound

is heard and press the TRIP ODOMETER button to turn

off the message. If the problem persists, the message will

appear the next time the vehicle is started.

A loose, improperly installed, or damaged fuel filler cap

may also turn on the MIL.

  12. Does anyone knows if we can shift from D to autostick or from Autostick to D while moving?

I have. Didn't notice any problem.

The display will change from "D" to show the active gear.

I read the manual now and it feels like Dodge has put in some measures to make sure you don't damage the gear box.

    Read this:

    AUTOSTICK - IF EQUIPPED

AutoStick is a driver-interactive transaxle that offers six

manual ratio changes to provide you with more control

of the vehicle. AutoStick allows you to maximize engine

braking, eliminate undesirable upshifts and downshifts,

and improve overall vehicle performance. This system

can also provide you with more control during passing,

city driving, cold slippery conditions, mountain driving,

trailer towing, and many other situations.

    AutoStick Operation

By placing the shift lever one shift-level below the DRIVE

position, it can be moved from side to side. This allows

the driver to select a higher or lower range of gears.

Moving the shift lever to the Left (-) triggers a downshift

and to the Right (+) an upshift. The gear position will

display in the instrument cluster on the transaxle range

    indicator.

NOTE: In Autostick mode, the transaxle will only shift

up or down when the driver moves the shift lever to the

    Right (+) or Left (-).

AutoStick is deactivated when the shift lever is moved

out of the AutoStick (+/-) position.

    AutoStick General Information

    • You can start out in 1st or 2nd gear. The system will

ignore attempts to upshift at too low of a vehicle

    speed.

    • If a ratio other than 1st is selected, and the vehicle is

brought to a stop, the transaxle control logic will

automatically select the 1st gear ratio.

    • Starting out in 2nd gear is helpful in snow or icy

    conditions.

    • Avoid using speed control when Autostick is en-

    gaged.

    • The transaxle will automatically shift up when maxi-

mum engine speed is reached while Autostick is

    engaged.

    • Transaxle shifting will be more noticeable when

    Autostick is engaged.

    • If a low range is selected and the engine accelerates to

the rev limit, the transaxle will automatically select the

    next higher ratio.

    • If a downshift would cause the engine to over-speed,

that shift will not occur until it is safe for the engine.

Mostly the transaxle will stay in the manually selected

    ratio, however:

    - If the system detects powertrain overheating, the

transaxle will revert to the automatic shift mode and

remain in that mode until the powertrain cools off.

    - If the system detects a problem, it will disable the

AutoStick mode and the transaxle will return to the

automatic mode until the problem is corrected.

    //

  13. Quote the manual:

"If the ESP/BAS Malfunction Indicator Light turns on continuously with the engine running, a malfunction has been detected in either the ESP or the BAS system, or both. If this light remains on after several ignition cycles, and the vehicle has been driven several miles (kilometers) at speeds greater than 30 mph (48 km/h), see your authorized dealer as soon as possible to have the problem diagnosed and corrected."

  14. Hi

Have recently got my Journey SXT here in the UK

I dont seem to have "download" as an option in the address book...is there something I am missing or is the Europe version of MyGig without this feature

    Thanks

    Tony

This happens automatically the first time you pair your phone.

(Or at least that's what I have understood that it should do. But since my firmware in the MyGig has bug with the iPhone 3G I have to empty the adressbook before pairing).

  15. When shifting wheels this weekend my sister accidently dropped one wheel and made a couple of not so nice looking dents on the aluminum rims.

(It's not the 19" dodge rims thank good, but a little cheaper 16" rims for use with winter tires. But none the less most irritating since they are almost brand new).

What is the best way to take care of this?

Some wet sanding paper and touch up paint?

Any tips or recommendations of products to use are welcome!

    /Andreas

  16. I did some googling and if I have understood it correctly chrome clad wheels can be made of either plastic or stainless steel. Right?

And the chrome clad wheels are more durable than ordinary chrome. And that they more durable.

And ordinary chrome wheels are not as environmental friendly.

So when why would I want ordinary chrome wheels?

How do I know if I have the 19" Aluminum wheels or the 19" Chrome clad wheels?

And what are the Aluminum wheels coating made of?

(I have an R/T but I don't know what type the rims are).
