  1. I just got an oil change and tire rotation at the dealer. They told me that I have about 3,000 miles before the pads are worn and want me back before then to replace the pads before they damage the rotors. My Journel has 17,800 miles on it and this seems to be a bit early for brake wear, especially considering my last 2 vehicles went over 45K before getting close to needing new pads.

The dealer said that I'm probably one of the 1st local journey owners to have this high mileage, so they don't know if this is premature or not. So, How long are pads lasting for everybody else?

My Journey is at the dealer now for replacement of all four rotors and pads at 6150 miles.

  2. You have got to be kidding me! Michelin's are overpriced junk and they wear out just as fast if not faster than Goodyear OEM Tires. The worst tire investment I ever made was with Michelin Touring Radials. Lots of road noise and 25K later the wear bars were showing. I purchased a set of Cooper Radials (yeah Cooper) for half the price and double the mileage. I have 10K on my Kumho tires and they wear well, no road hum and handle very well. I also work at a large company and a number of the kids who work here are tuners and the Kumho tires have a pretty good following among them, good price and quality. I guess you really don't know much about them being that they are CHINESE tires...lol

No, I don't know much about them. Fact is the Kumho tires that came on my Journey said "MADE IN CHINA". Maybe you don't know a lot about these tires either, but I admit it.

Never had a bad Michelin, and I would stack them up against any other brand. Cooper tires have a good reputation, hope you're happy with them.

  3. I put the Kumho tires in the same category as the lead tainted kids toys, poisoned pet food and a host of other things coming from China that is JUNK! First thing I did when I got the new Journey was to take it to my local Discount Tire dealer who gave me $200.00 trade-in on a set of Michelin tires. Now I feel confident when driving, and don't worry about when one (or more) of the junk Kumho tires is going to let go.

  4. Checked out the Sherwood Distributors web site for the add on parts for the Dodge Journey they apparently import from Europe. I would like to do some mods, but not at their prices. They are, in my opinion, WAY OVERPRICED, think I will wait for an American compny to offer these add ons.

  5. I use only synthetic..... better for starting and general wear and tear..... Just remember that you can not go back to regular oil once you use synthetic.

    Erbch

Yes you can go back to regular (dino) oil after synthetic. This myth has been floating around on other sites as well. If you want specifics, go to any of the well known oil web sites. They even say you can switch back and forth with no problem.

A little research before adding a blatently false statement would be in order.
