  1. How long ago did this happen to you and how many miles are on your Journey? Has the problem repeated itself at all?

This happened about 6 weeks ago. I had approximately 11,000 miles. It has not happened since I took the Journey in for repair (knock on wood). An indicator light came on with this too (I think it was called the "malfunction indicator light")....like I needed a light to tell me there was something wrong though! :)

  2. I sent the dealership an email stating that I was upset that they could not see me for at least a week and that I should not have to pay for a rental car because I don't feel safe in mine. Low and behold, they called me and asked me to bring it in and gave me a loaner without any hassle. I must say I was impressed with their cooperation and willingness to help. The technician said it is throwing a low voltage code and could be a bad relay somewhere, but that it could take a day or two to track down and he wanted to drive it for a while as it was not throwing an active code at the time he was working on it. When I know more I'll post the code number and let you guys know the result. Hopefully it's nothing more serious. They gave me a new pathfinder and I must say I don't like it near as much as my Journey.

Hmmm...had the EXACT same transmission problem with my car :o It ended up being that some switch was stuck within the transmission (I guess). Kind of a strange thing to happen to someone else this soon too.....

  3. Please explain. I tried every button I could think of and it didn't seem to work. Do you have the standard radio (6 cd)?

Most of the settings (not sure if this one is in that menu off the top of my head) are in the menu where you check the gas milage, compass, etc. If you scroll through there is something (I believe) called personal settings. You can change many things from within there. This is NOT on the radio...it is the little display that is to the left on the steering wheel on the dashboard.

  4. They changed mine too when the car was around 10 000km. Now the car is 24 600km and the light is back again. Is it a bad luck or is there a problem with this piece??? :banghead:

Hmmm...I had a brake related light come on the other day (the stability control thing). The manual said to see if it stays on through a few on/off cycles and it went out the next time I drove it.

  5. I haven't found an update for MYGig with the Nav unit yet. If someone find one, please post it.

I received an update CD in the mail a few weeks ago. After I did the update myself, I had an unrelated problem (with a switch in the transmission) and had my car at the dealer. While I was standing there, he hooked the computer up to my car that pulled the codes - and found a "ton" of error codes for the radio. I am not sure if these were addressed by the update CD or not - but I have never had any problems with my radio before or after the CD update. The update was simple and took only a couple of minutes - it has directions on the CD sleeve and states if you aren't comfortable doing it that you can take it to the dealer.

  6. Hi kwirges-

Just an FYI from my experience...the day after I bought my R/T, I was on the local Parkway cruising around 70 mph when that exact thing happened to me - my tranny wouldn't shift and the MIL light flashed on. I made it to work doing about 25 in a 55, and had it flatbedded out. Turns out, it was the input speed sensor. I don't know if they were able to fix yours yet, but if not - mention this. It certainly fixed mine!

    Good luck-

    Sharon

Thanks for the info, Sharon! It ended up being some sort of switch that was stuck near the transmission (I am not a "car guy" so I can't remember exactly what it was). At any rate, they replaced the switch and things have been fine since!

    Thanks.

  7. hmmmm...... "tiny drain pipe used to drain the roof" this is my first sunroof. I have heard the stories. my plan has been to, from time to time, clean area that roof slides into . which quadrant would the tiny drain pipe be in? any thoughts on routine sunroof maintenance,if any?

    thanks again.

I am not sure of the location of the drain. I just know that the service tech told me that when he first looked at my car he did a water flow test and the flow rate was really slow. He said he blew compressed air into the drain line to clear it out and had some tiny rocks and other debris come out - after that, he said the problem was fixed. It's kind of scary to me that it could get clogged up that easily after only having it for a few months...and I don't even park under any large trees!

  8. Well, my Journey is at 7500 miles and I have been having it in the dealership a little too much lately. The first trip was for water which was pouring in from the rearview mirror area by my sunroof. It wasn't related to the original sunroof rapid response fix - it was due to debris blocking the tiny drain pipe used to drain the roof. A week later, I opened the sunroof to see that the air deflector was broken! A tab had been broken when they reinstalled it causing it to pop up when opened - back to the dealer again! Then...I got the card in the mail about the engine wiring harness recall...back to the dealer. Now, on Friday, I had my MIL (malfunction indicator light) come on on the highway. Car wouldn't shift, RPMs were ABOVE 4000 while going 30 mph! I sluggishly drove to the dealership again. He pulled the codes and showed a TON of codes for my MYGig radio which I had just updated via the update CD that came in the mail - very odd! He cleared the codes and the light went out, but a code popped back up for some sort of pressure switch thing. So...here it is Monday...and my car is sitting at the dealership to fix who-knows-what!

  9. I'm in the Castleton area of Indianapolis and have had my White (fleet white--?!) SXT Journey for nearly 6 weeks. Although I know there are a couple folks on here from Indy, I've only seen one other Journey - White and ON MY STREET! Think it was just visiting because I've not seen it since.

I live in Avon (on the West side of Indy)...and while taking a walk the other day saw a red one parked in a neighbors driveway! I am starting to see them much more frequently around Indy this month. I bought mine in early March and up until a few weeks ago really hadn't seen any others. Now I am seeing them often!

  10. Anyone else notice that when you open like just one passenger window in the back, you need to open another cause the pressure will just kill your ears after about a minute? So I can never just have like one of the kids windows open, it has to be two.

I have noticed this...although it has been like that with pretty much every vehicle I have owned. I wish there was a better way because my son ALWAYS wants his window open (which means I have to crack or open another)!

  11. The Change Oil message came on for me at just over 2500 miles. Most of my miles have been highway, I've only had it for 3 weeks now.

Mine also came on after about 2500 miles. I waited a little while longer to change it and then added synthetic. I seem to be getting about 1 mpg more on my driving after changing the oil and adding sythetic (I have determined this after driving for about another 2500 miles since my oil change). I am very curious to see how soon my light comes on again!

  12. look on the far left hand side of the lower glovebox. It is clipped to the side of the hinged area, one end plugs in there, the other to the Ipod, you might need to lean down a little to see it.

My cable was actually in the glove box, still sealed in a Mopar bag. I had to plug the cable into a socket in the back left side of the glove box and then it worked great!

  13. Just wondering who bought the 5 seater and who bought the 7 seater and what your thoughts were. I am looking at purhasing the dodge journey but really unsure about whether to get the 5 or 7 seater. Any opinions by the buyers ou there would really help.

    Thanks

We test drove a Journey that was a 7 seater - but quickly decided we wanted a 5 seater. It wasn't worth the extra money to us to have the third row that is basically only good for car seats or small children. I crawled back to the third seat to see what it was like and would not have been able to endure a ride to my neigbors house in that seat. The Journey is an awesome vehicle, but I definately can not recommend getting the extra 3rd row seat.

  14. Well, maybe I will finally see another Journey on the road in Indy now! I live in Avon and work downtown at Lilly but have yet to see another one on the road (and I have had mine since March 15th)! I am over 3000 miles and have not had any issues with it so far!

    See you on the road!

  15. Big Jay,

It is my understanding that in Canada you don't get it unless you pay extra but US Models come with it installed free for a year. It is just another benefit of living in Canada, it costs you more. On the more serious side I expect SIRIUS made a deal with US Chrysler and only included them. I think it's around $200 for it plus air fees here.

    Keith

It never seems to amaze me how the most simplistic things can be so different in the US and Canada

  16. Well, I got a little spooked this weekend driving my Journey. I heard a rather loud warning beep and then saw a message that said, "system warnings available"....HOLY CRAP...I thought. After scrolling through I found that my "windshield washer fluid was low!" Now, I haven't refilled it yet and it has been two days...but the Journey is nice enough to give me a loud beep and error message everytime I drive to remind me.

I don't know, but to me, this isn't worthy of a "System Warning Message" and is a little annoying.
