Gotcha; thanks. Where were the parts found in your car?
-
In short: IT'S SWEET. (Sorry I don't have a picture to share yet; I took pictures at night and they didn't turn out very well.)
It was delivered to the dealership on Tuesday. Since the incentives were changing after Tuesday night, we went and picked it up right away. We got an AMAZING deal! Since my dad is a retired Chrysler engine plant worker, we got a full employee discount, an additional $1,000 bonus employee discount, and $1,750 cash back. The sticker was $34,580; our cost was $28,515
I went ahead and got a 7 year / 70,000 mile / $0 deductible manufacturer warranty; my cost was $1,726. My wife is going to be driving the Journey R/T the most, and only works about a mile from where we live so we didn't need a ton of miles on the warranty. I also got an interior protection package and had Husky winter floor trays waiting for the car when I brought it home.
It looks absolutely SICK all (brilliant) blacked out in the R/T trim! I knew that it would look good, but it's an absolute head turner when you add in the satin 19" wheels and rear LED's. The black leather interior with contrasting red stitching looks tastefully sporty. We've already had a few "what is that" questions around town about the car
We can't get over the technology built into our new car. AWD, keyless entry / start, 8.4" multimedia / navigation touchscreen with voice recognition to do just about anything, gas prices, sports scores, weather reports, a good sound system... it's GREAT!
The things I wish it had available are memory seats, power pedals, rear power lift gate, and a factory hitch (I'm not a big fan of tearing off and cutting the rear bumper on a brand new car). I do realize that this would change the price point of this car, which was one of the reasons why we chose it.
The only issue I've noticed so far is that the display doesn't show all of the album art from our connected iPod nano (which I've been told is a known issue).
If you're on the fence, GO FOR IT. You won't be disappointed

I decided against it... at least for now. Since our other daily driver already has a hitch and I'm not a big fan of tearing off and cutting the bumper of our brand new car I'm going to wait to do it until I really need it. Our new Journey R/T already has the towing prep package, so it will be an easy add on if we need it in the future. Thanks for your help guys!

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I too would be surprised if the car is downloading album art from a wireless database rather than using the files that are already on the device. I can see ALL of the album art on my iPod nano, I can't see all of the album art on my Journey's screen.
-
So my wife and I picked up our new 2012 Dodge Journey R/T on Tuesday (LOVE IT by the way...), and I'm noticing that when I plug in her iPod nano to the USB port and play music on the 8.4N that only SOME of the album art appears. I know that all of the album art is on the nano, because I see it when I play it on just the nano. Any ideas of why this is?

I found a few (the forum wouldn't let me post the actual pictures for some reason, so here are the links)... are there anymore out there?

We already discussed this in the thread that I found these pictures, but you'll notice that the installation can have an off-centered appearance (which might drive me nuts). I'm wondering if it would help aesthetically to cut the opening on the bumper equally off of the center of the vehicle to give the hardware a more centered appearance (this would result with the hitch wiring filling the opening to the left of the hitch, and a blank opening to the right of the hitch). Thoughts?

My 2012 Dodge Journey R/T might be delivered tomorrow, and I need to decide ASAP if I want the dealership to install the Mopar hitch. I'm REALLY nervous about the dealership pulling off the rear bumper and cutting it, so I'd like to see a few examples of what it looks like. I've looked around online and within the forum, but am having a difficult time finding 2011-2012 Dodge Journeys with the NEW rear bumper with the Mopar hitch installed (I know that I've seen them before though...). Can you guys please help me out and post some pictures in this thread if you know of any? (I'm NOT interested in pictures of Journeys that are 2010 or older since they have a different rear bumper, nor am I interested in pictures of other hitch installations.) Thanks for your time and help!
-
Can you please share some pictures of the installation? My R/T comes in this week and I'd like to see what the vertical hitch installation looks like. Thanks!

Subwoofer is in the trunk, driver's side behind the grill. Not much of one as it is only a 6" sub. Has about as much punch as the 6x9's in the door.
According to the link generaltso provided above, it has an 8" subwoofer:

Do you have a link where it says that the Journey comes with a 6" subwoofer?

I guess appearance is all personal preference. BTW my Crew is US ordered has red stitching, see picture above.
It was orange; they must have changed it. Red is MUCH better!
-
Glad I got the crew.
Stubby antenna on back looks wierd... and what is up with the top rails? Black car missing it, and white car has black rails.
I don't like the body colored door handles as well... I like me some chrome, though I have a feeling it can get scratched up pretty quick.
BTW question about the red stitching.... is that normal on all the lines? I thought only the R/T had it... my Crew has Pearl leather w/ red stiching as well...
When I test drove it at the dealership they had the Tan leather and I don't remember it having red stitching.
Roof rails are optional on the R/T model, as having them detracts from the sporty appearance (if that's what one is going for).
The red stitching is only available on the R/T in the US; I think that the other models have orange, white, or brown stitching depending on the interior color.
-
On the side note.... where is the subwoofer? I couldn't find it.
I think it's in the trunk.

I just called Dodge; their documentation says that they're definitely Infinity speakers according to their documentation, but then had no explanation of why the interiors of existing cars on the lots are badged as "Alpine". They said that the dealership should have more information (LOL).
-
Why is it that when I look at window stickers for 2011 and 2012 Dodge Journeys many say that they include "6 Infinity® Premium Speakers with Subwoofer" but when you get inside the car the badging by the speakers says "Alpine"? Here are two window stickers of cars I've seen in person that say "Infinity" on the sticker and "Alpine" inside the car:

My window sticker also says that with the Alpine logo on each door inside?????
Maybe the Apline is only the amp and not the speakers????
..........Anyboby know?
In the rear pics of the Black Journey......The R/T here in Canada has the AWD logo also the back...........That one did not.
Can you even get a AWD Journey in the U.S.?
...................Caper.....................
The pictures above are not of an AWD model, but the AWD models in the US do have AWD badging.
-
I couldn't agree more about the front badge comment; I hope that mine comes with the red one.
Here's a weird thing I noticed: the window sticker says that it has Infinity speakers, and the badging inside of the car says that they are Alpine speakers.
-
I want to see the R/T stitching on the headrests. Wouldn't mind upgrading my 2011 to those.
Peace.
There isn't any R/T logo on the headrests
-
I absolutely love how it's functional AND sporty looking at the same time. It's "FUNctional"

I'm seeing that 2012 Dodge Journey R/T's are FINALLY beginning to hit the dealer lots in my area. I found one that has the same exterior / interior combination as my Journey that should be delivered next week. (I also included a picture of a white one that was sitting next to it). I LOVE the black leather interior with the red accent stitching! Check it out:
-
Perhaps the red stripe logo is only on the R/T.
You could end up being correct, but Dodge did advertise the 2012 Journey Crew with the red stripe logo on the front here.

If you end up getting a 2nd row mat, I recommend the Weathertech over the Husky because it has better coverage. If you want a 3rd row mat as well, you'll have to go with Weathertech because Husky doesn't make one
Good thoughts, but since it's just my wife and I we don't have the 3rd row and will rarely use the 2nd row so I'd rather just have all the mats match. Thanks
-
I got my Husky front mats from Amazon last night; they have the 3 bumps, so I won't need to swap them with Husky.

I got a clarification e-mail from Dodge:
I’d like to further clarify.
The Journey R/T opened up for retail ordering late in the day on October 3rd. Other markets were opened for ordering prior to October 3rd.
When the ordering system opened up for retail orders, the cloth interior was available to order in error, and was shut off shortly after (within an hour). However, in the meantime, 10 orders came in with cloth interior. Since the plant was already taking orders with cloth interior for other markets, and since the orders were placed prior to October 4th, these 10 units were able to get built with cloth interior.
I hope this helps answer your questions.
Please let me know if you need additional information.
Sincerely,
Shannon Costello

I got a response from Dodge about the seats:
There was a running change to make leather interior standard on the Journey R/T that went into effect starting with orders placed on after October 4th. The vehicle listed on the window sticker was ordered on October 3rd.
Your order is currently in D1 status (Gateline) and has an estimated ship date of December 16th , and is no longer eligible to receive the cloth interior.
I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Sincerely,
Shannon Costello
The thing that doesn't make sense is that I was unable to place an order for a 2012 Dodge Journey R/T until the middle end of October. I know because I kept trying to order from several dealerships from about the beginning of September on. So they're basically telling me that I missed the window to order cloth when the window was never open. Bummer.
Help! Looking for pictures of 2011-2012 Journeys with Mopar hitch

Are you sure that they didn't toss that in there when they installed your hitch?
