If you scroll down the "fitment" column, you find this:
DODGE JOURNEY FWD, 2.4L I4 DOHC 16V Dual VVT, 4-Speed Automatic VLP SEIt (the link) does, in fact, fit the 2012 2.4L 4 cylinder 2012 SE model... I still maintain that the cars, for the US market, come with the brackets. The car has to be "licensable" in all the states, as I mentioned, my 2013 had its bracket in the rear cargo area in a plastic bag with the net cargo holder and the 4 pin plug for the trailer hitch option. Conceivably, they could not include it on cars shipped to a state that doesn't require a front plate, but, with the way the cars are shipped and then "hijacked" by dealer swaps on their way even that doesn't make sense. Years ago, they came from the factory with the front brackets already mounted...it was very recently that they stopped coming "pre-installed" because people like me, didn't want the bracket with no license plate and we didn't want the holes left when taking them off (my '89 Lebaron has those "ugly" holes from when I removed its bracket - ugly!). The dealers "advertising" on the licenses is a frame and not part of the bracket itself; the first thing I remove from new cars along with the name and adress on the paint surface.
Well, looky there, I must of been half asleep when I looked at that this morning, didn't see the scroll on the side. LOL. I would like to see an actual picture of this before I bought one though.
And yes, correct the branded Frame is not apart of the bracket itself, poor choice of words on my part on previous post. But anyhow, I was looking for a bracket/frame combo like I've seen on the 6 cyl models in the dealer yard. Just a plane bracket serves no purpose for me now that I have holes already for the dealer frame. And for us in states that do still require the front plate, we are stuck with holes anyway we do it.

Here is a link to the front license plate (factory part) frame: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/products/LICENSE-PLATE-KIT-MCZ/8670779/68140112AB.html There are several types, even a special model for "export" (I'm guessing it is suitable for the "long" plates used in Europe) and they appear to be fairly "universal" in fit on the all the Journeys....I didn't look at the listings that hard though, so, there may be minor differences in their shape, but, I wouldn't think the curve of the bumper changed much over the years.
AFAIK, all MOPAR vehicles come from the factory with the front bracket, they just aren't installed. I live in PA where there is no front license plate, however, every Chrysler product I've bought since we moved here, 22 year ago, came with the bracket. It was never installed, but, was in the back of all the vehicles (including my DJ) in a plastic bag. Chrysler doesn't know where the car will eventually be sold and they ship them "50 States" ready, that means that it should have had the bracket. Whether the dealer lost the original or threw it away, is debatable, but, the car, I'm almost certain, came with one originally.
This bracket you listed is for the 6 cylinder Journeys. I have 2012 SE which is 4 cylinder and the front fascia is different than on the 6 cylinder models. I talked with Managers and parts and service people, and there was not a factory type bracket for my model. And yes, I stood there as they looked through their parts catalog on the computer. I believe that a lot not all mopar vehicles are not shipped with a factory front bracket as dealers will put on there own dealer branded brackets.

Did anyone find a part number for the license plate bracket for the 2009-10 Journey? It would be nice to have one that fits the shape of the bumper. Thanks
I gave up looking for one for my 2012 SE. I Just use the dealer one screwed in to bumper, just got used to it.

Did you find a solution to this? Hubby has everyting installed except that red brake control wire.
Thanks,
Melissa

Just over 7 months since the update and still no problems with the blaring sound. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
-
The service advisor just called me back to say that it does apply to my vehicle, so Wednesday it goes in to get fixed yay.
Hooray!!
-
Actually went a few months without this happening so kind of forgot about it, then it happened the other day. Called the dealership this morning and apparently there are no recalls, rapid response or TSB's for my vehicle and they won't apply the fix.
I had same problem with my dealership. I had to approach it differently. I called them again and talked with someone different and did not give them my name or vehicle right off, I insisted they look up the TSB that I provided them. (The full TSB # and full description is listed further back in this thread). Once they found it and read it they were ok with getting the update done.
It states in the TSB to apply that fix to anyone that has the problem even if it is not attached to your vin #.
Good Luck.

It's been just over a month since we got the software update. And so far so good, there have been NO radio blasts.
-
Just got the call that the update is in. Will have our Journey updated this afternoon.

Hi DodgeCares,
I just called my service Dept. and did not get anywhere. She pulled up my vin # and it shows no new updates and I gave her the TSB and she said she couldn't do anything with that as there's nothing coming up under my vin. She said that she could schedule me for service and see if there was anything they could do for the issue. I told her no, I'm not going to make a trip in and have all these other things checked when all I want is this update. She said it usually takes longer for it to get in the system then when it hits the news, I told her it was not on the news that I had heard this and told her about the forum. I told her I would wait and call next week to see if it is in their system.
I tried to talk to the Service Directer, but apparently he was not in.

Thanks to DodgeCares assistance the other day, I called my dealer back and spoke to someone different. And they now have the upgrade on order and should be here in 4 -5 days, but because of the holidays I don't figure before next week. They are suppose to give me a call when it's here.
Can't wait, hope this fixes the sound problem like it is suppose to.

Yes, most definitely. I'll also print this out.

MB,
Your welcome. Make sure you take down the TSB number when you go as many dealers will most likely not be aware of this one yet since it just came out today.
Yes, most definitely. I'll also print this out.

Thanks Dodge Cares, so glad to hear this. I will be calling today to make an appt.
Thanks Again,

The bracket part number is 68140112AA
Is this part number for the one like in the pictures posted on the white journey in this thread? We have a 2012 SE and our Faschia is not like that one so don't think that bracket will work (maybe if we modified the edge it would, not sure though)

The last time the volume spiked I was ready with my hand on the steering wheel volume down button. One click and the sound was restored to the normal level which I found interesting as to me this indicates that the system thinks the radio volume is at a normal level when it is actually much much louder.
Ugh, the blaring radio happened twice today (I bet our poor dogs jumped out of their skin in the back) But I was ready with the button on back of steering wheel and one click it restored to previous sound level, but, equalizer etc still resets to default. So yup this trick works.

MB,
As soon as a fix is available I will post it on this thread.
Thank You

Add me to the list with this issue have had our 2012 for 2 weeks and it has happened 3 times. First 2 times I thought I had done something for this to happen than this morning I had it in to pick up our 2nd key fob and they of course had to program it, so I had to wait a bit, and when I got in the car it started loud again. Also it resets the radio settings back to default, balance, equalizer, bass, treble, etc. I have the 4.3 and am only using it on radio.
Now I know I'm not crazy and it is a known issue I will be calling the Service Dept. But, from what I have read so far I don't expect a fix yet.
The service Dept just called me back and she said that she could not find any bulletin on this issue but she said that doesn't mean that it is not being worked on. It's just that they have no notice on it. She said she checked with others at the dealership and no one had even heard of this problem. So she said just hang in there and wait and see.
So, guess that is what I'll do, wait until it is posted on here that a fix is available.

Also some of the '08-'09 exterior accessories will work also. The hood deflector is one and look at a full width version ,AVS makes one that i have installed on my 2011, as the factory one only overs the hood.
Thanks for the info.

The only real changes from the 2011 to the 2012 are the front and rear bumper (Which were actually changed mid 2011 cycle).
I don't see any reason why those 2 accessories wouldn't fit on your 2012... Perhaps it just hasn't been updated to include compatibility with 2012 yet?
Thanks, Yes, I figure the same, that sites have not updated with compatibility yet. Which is understandable with the 2012 so new on the market.
I took the chance and ordered both.

Looking to get the molded mud flaps and the Nerf side step bars for our 2012 that we just bought.
I see that there is hardly anything saying any accessories are compatible with the 2012. Only up to 2011.
If I've read correctly there was not a major change in from the 2011 build. So my question is would any 2011 accessories fit the 2012? Specifically the mud flaps and side steps.
Thanks

This is the service bulletin that needs to be installed. Or to check to see if it has been installed. It needs to be done by a Dodge dealer, it does not matter who you bought it from. It is not a Uconnect update. You need to call any Dodge dealer Service Department, give them your Vin # so they can look to see if that update has been done, give the bulletin number to look for. If they have no record of it being installed, then an appointment can be made to have it done. Since there is probably no manufacture warranty left, ask them how much it will cost to get the update, so you'll know ahead. Unless you have purchased an extended Warranty than that may apply.
