  1. Most times when the engine has only been running for a couple of minutes half way through 1st gear there is a flat spot. It almost feels like the fuel is cut off for a second. The tach does drop when it happens. Of course there are no codes so the dealer says they cant do anything about it. When they take it out for a test drive they drive it like they stole it and it rarely does it when completely warmed up. This transmission really likes to be driven hard but that isn't my style, its hard enough on gas as it is driving it easy. Any one else experiance this flat spot in first gear?

  2. I bought one from my dealership and installed it the second day of ownership. Seen them on Ebay but don't know if the quality is the same. The mopar piece is pricey but also of very good quality. Easy to install...only 2 screws...you remove the original with the hinged bracket and replace in kind. Just put some painters tape around the front edge of the quarter panel so you don't scratch your paint - removing is a bit tricky.

Haven't seen another Journey in Winnipeg with one...I like having it because it's easy to identify my own car from others. I added it plus the chrome mirror covers which I love, and also some R/T badges on the fenders to make it my own. Sets it apart from the pack...

Looks great, I think I will look into those for my White gold DJ. I noticed that you don`t have the front licence plate bracket. The dealer will have them in stock now and since you come from a province that requires a front plate they should have given you one. I know they were not available when the new 2011 front end came out but they have them now. The part number is 68140112AA .

  3. Well, the 2010 Journey was amazing. I didn't even get a year out of it but I loved every trip I took in it. My girlfriend was hit while driving and the car is being written off (see attached photo).

I got lucky though as my dealership has a brand new silver 2011 crew edition sitting on the lot. So of course I put my name down it. The 2011s are VERY different from the 2010s and everything I can find says its for the better. I don't think there is anything extra on it from the crew model. Here are the specs: http://www.dodge.ca/en/vehicle_home.php?np=Journey&mc=JOU_CRW

    Wish me luck!

Was there more damage than what we can see? That sure doesn't look like enough to write it off.

  4. So now there were potentially four:

    - Me

    - Chrispollard

    - Armendegga

and _2031 has indicated interest in getting involved with the deal

I'm posting the information in-topic top keep track of participants . . when we have enough people I'll re-write to the participants to get their confirmations and then head in to negotiate with a couple of dealers to play them off against each other.

I would be interested at the 40% range. I think that for 25% I will take my chances with the factory warranty as I rarely keep a car for more than 5 years.

  5. You sure do like to install your snows early.

I wait for the last legal day in Quebec (December 15) and get them off on the first legal day (March 15). We don't get snow that sticks before the December date and very little after mid march and it sure reduces tire wear to have them on as little as possible.

I was wondering what the thing would so when I swapped my winter wheels onto the car. Thanks for sharing.

Yes it is early but since I had to buy a new set of tires and wheels I wanted to get it done. Everyone waits until the first snowfall and then it is really nuts at all the tire places. Next year I will just swap them myself.

  6. I installed my winter tires on my 2011 SXT yesterday. I was expecting the TPM to show a problem and then have to black out the warning light with black tape. After about 30 km the TPM noticed that I didn't have any air in any of my tires and set off the low pressure warning and light. The next time I started the DJ the light was gone and the TPM area on my dash display just said N/A, and no warning light on the dash has happened since. Nice

  7. Is there a front license plate bracket available for the 2012's? I was walking around the dealer lot this morning and noticed that several Dodge Journey's that had license plates screwed directly to the front bumper, and it looked like CRAP.

My 2011 didn't come with one either and they screwed it directly to the bumper and you are right it looked like crap! I found out the part number for the bracket on another forum and had the dealer order me one. Before it came in I found the bracket for mine in a plastic bag in the under floor storage in the back. It was in a bag with the cargo net. Look there if you didn't get one from the dealer when the car was delivered. I can't believe that Chrysler would let the dealers put the plates on without a bracket.

  8. When you get the vehicle back, can you tell us what upgrades are listed on your work order? If you could give us the codes or even scan the work order and upload it here, that would be most helpful.

The first time I had mine in for Jerky reverse and Cruise Control working intermittingly the invoice just says Flash Updates for PCM and BCM. that did fix both problems. My DJ was built in June and this was done in Aug, 10 days after buying the car.

  9. The 'quick learn ' setting is a computerized reset for the transmission control module (or whatever it is called) back to factory. The DJ with this ability will 'learn' your driving habits and adjust to and become familiar with the speed /rpms at which the gears will shift - up or down. When going into autostick this over ridden. The DJ will 'learn" your habits and from then onward will shift when those parameters are met. So if they differ, you will / may notice a change in the shifting pattern. It is preferable to keep the same driving pattern throughout this learning process. I do not know for how long this 'learning' goes on, but I suspect once it learns a pattern it sets and locks on on it. My DJ learned quite well at first and I had no issues until I allowed a family member exclusive use of it for three weeks while I was away. The DJ learned a new habit and it was one I did not enjoy when I resumed using it. I had to 'teach' it all over again. Apparently she taught it to go fast right from the get go :shift:

Another thing I have noticed over the hundred thousand kms, I have on my 2009 SXT; It really likes the fact that the vehicle is completely stopped and the rpms are relaxed before shifting from forward to reverse and vice versa.

Mine wants a complete stop for D and/or R also. I understand how the quick learn is supposed to work in up shifting, I don't see why it starts to "clunk" into gear while down shifting. I also noticed while crawling along in traffic on the 401 yesterday that while on and off the gas at 40km it would engage roughly, like i was putting it in neutral and then hitting the gas before putting it in drive again. Maybe my torque converter is wonky.

  10. My 2011 SXT has been shifting badly right from day 1. There has always been a big bog down feeling between 1 and 2 first thing in the morning. almost feels like it is going to stall. When backing into my driveway it would feel like the torque converter was slipping, really jerky, fixed that with a flash update. Then it started down shifting with a hard jolt from 3 -2 and 2-1. There were no codes so the mechanic "reset the quick learn" to factory specs and it worked fine for about 500km now it is starting to down shift with a jolt again. Anyone else have these problems? I wonder if it is possible to reset the quick learn to factory values and then turn the damn thing off! Its pretty bad when my work truck, a 5 ton GMC T8500, 6 speed Allison automatic with 500,000 km on it, up and down shifts so much smoother than my brand new Journey.

  11. 2011 Journey R/T over here... it was a custom order, and everything has been great with it. However, one annoyance is that my front license plate was bolted directly onto my bumper. There isn't even a flat spot to mount it, so it's actually on a bit of an angle. The rest of the styling is so good, but this just cheapens it. The dealership claims that there is no license plate holder available for this model. Did anyone get one with their 2011 with the newer bumpers?

I just bought my new Journey and had the same problem with the front plate just screwed on the bumper and sticking out at a bad angle. After going back and forth with the dealer I had no satisfaction. Today I found the front bracket in the rear under floor storage. It was in the bag with the cargo net. Luckily the holes matched up with the ones drilled by the dealer. What an improvement it makes! the car is beautiful again, not some bucked tooth mutant. I am still going to try and take my complaint regarding my very poor customer service treatment by the sales manager up the ladder in Chrysler Canada.
