  1. - MyFord touch updates can be downloaded and installed by the owner (through the usb port). For UConnect you need to go to the dealer (that sucks :S)

For the record -- the UConnect is user-flashable -- we all got an update recently that could be done via the USB port.

  2. Hi --

Quark -- no it is not the brightness wheel to the left of steering. As soon as I remove my LockPick the picture quality returns to "normal". Can you test something for me, that I just noticed today? If I use my navigation system and enter a location, then hit go and start driving, the vehicle speed in the lower right corner of the 8.4" screen, when Nav is selected, always says a speed of 0. My speedometer and the speed in the EVIC (small digital screen in to the left of the speedometer) displays the correct speed, however, the 8.4" Nav screen always says 0. I, again removed the LockPick today and the speed displayed fine on the 8.4" screen. Only with the LockPick do I always have a speed of 0. By the way, I have a 2011 R/T in Canada. Are you in Canada?

Yes, I'm in Canada. I don't have an R/T -- I've got the SXT Crew. The speed of zero is likely to defeat the "if moving, don't allow GPS data entry".

Also, have you added a front camera? I just did this today, using the CoastalEtech Bar cam and the quality is also poor for that. Very washed out. It is almost like a white/grey camera, no colour. However, I also have an iPod hooked up to the LockPick and the quality of the video from that is perfect. So, reverse and front camera have poor quality, but iPod has perfect quality. I can't figure it out. It is almost as if I need different contrast setting for each camera that is hooked up to the LockPick.

That's odd -- In my email thread with Coastaletech they told me that since I had a factory reverse camera that I could NOT use any other cameras...so I didn't try...

    Cheers!

  3. I got a buddy to help me with the Lockpick C8 install (extra hands were useful!) into my 2011 Journey last night -- and it went *very* smoothly.

Derivative99 -- if you're reading this -- My reverse camera picture quality is that same as without the Lockpick...I don't notice it being darker at all...You didn't hit one of the two brightness wheels to the left of the steering, did you? One of the two dims the 8.4" screen if you lower it far enough...

So far I'm enjoying the unlocked features...Ended up modifying the molding that snaps in underneath the entertainment unit -- snapping two of the plastic "vent" pieces allowed us to feed the Lockpick's mini-harness through to the Lockpick unit I'm keeping in the centre console -- I'm going to put black braid/hose on the exposed wires and velcro the Lockpick into the centre console...

I haven't tried the AUX video yet, but did the firmware update without issues.

    Cheers!

  4. Thanks for the great post -- just arrived in Windsor this morning -- drove from Kingston this afternoon -- Journey was a dream!

I think there's definitely something up with the brakes -- everyone seems to be having noise issues at one point or another...I get terrible sounds after starting the vehicle when it's been off and braking a low speeds...god awful sound I'm going to record to the dealer who claims there's no issue! :)

  5. Purchased veh 06/29/2011. in MI want daytime running lights, won't activate with light setting menu on 8.4 screen. Checkmark appears, but no lights. Any ideas?

Did you make sure that you have the lights to the left of the steering wheel set to AUTO?

  6. Do you happen to have a part # or some other identifying number that relates to the two fixes? This would be a big help to get the dealer to apply the right fixes.

    Best I have is:

    "Perform software update for IPC"

    and

    "18-19-45-91 Module, Cabin Compartment Node (CCN) - Reprogram (B) - 0.2hrs"

But honestly, your dealer should have them and know about it...

As an IT service provider doing work for various Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealerships, I know a fair bit about their inner workings...

Your dealer should not only know about it (service bulletins via DealerConnect and such systems) but should be nodding their head and offering to do the update under warranty ASAP...

If your dealer continues to play dumb, get me the name of the dealer and a phone number and I'll have someone from my local dealer call them for you and take them through what they need to do...It boggles my mind that some dealers out there are so clueless...this isn't rocket science... :)

  7. Hey drb227, according to the sticker on the inside of the driver side door, my Journey was built January as well. When I go in there Friday I'll try to get the bulletin # and post back if they fixed it or not.

My Journey was at the dealer on Wednesday to check a condensation problem in the rear right brake light enclosure and I talked to them about the km/h vs mph issue -- there is a fix -- they did two separate software updates to my Journey -- the km/h is DEFINITELY fixed. Haven't found out what the second fix was for -- overall I was told that the fixes pertained to the instrument cluster / EVIC.

    Cheers!

  8. 37 year old male, married father of two in Kingston, Ontario.

I work in Information Technology (IT) and my job involves everything from the management of datacentre systems to client networks and associated hardware.

I do not use my vehicle for work purposes other than to get to work in the mornings and home in the evenings!

  9. Thanks for your feedback, Tom -- a good read for me as a new Journey owner (1150km so far).

Is your 2011 SE a 4 cylinder? I test-drove the 4 cylinder and decided that the v6 was necessary for any real highway driving...

Also, did you take it to a Chrysler/Dodge dealer for your first oil change? or just to a general garage/mechanic?

My local dealer provides a coupon that makes the first oil change free...for when I need it!

  10. Reading these forums, Canada must be full of them. There are 4 of them around our small town of around 1800 people. The Dodge dealer in the next town, about 15 miles away, can't keep them on the lot very long but haven't seen too many of them on the road.

Dodge does advertise the Journey as "Canada's Best Selling Crossover"
