  1. Thanks for the diagrams. It’s weird that some sites/ places label the radio unit as the telematics gateway module. There is an actual telematics gateway module located somewhat behind/ under the steering wheel. But I’ve also read that that module is responsible for Bluetooth communications more or less. I’d think I can rule out the radio unit as I tried a replacement and had the same exact issues. I’m leaning towards the touch screen/ ICS.
  2. Wondering if it’s the screen, being that it’s what’s controlling power to the hvac panel. Unless the signal power I’m missing doesn’t originate in the screen module and more or less just runs through it
  3. Figured out where to test by opening the control panel and reading the pinout on the board. These were my testing results
  4. My wife took the dj to an automotive electrical place, BAX auto, and after letting them know what I had done this is what they recommended. By chance does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can reference what to check according to BAX’s recommendations?
  5. Does anyone happen to know where the telematics gateway module is located?
  6. Welp, no luck with the hvac module. I plugged the new one in and all that happened was the blend door sounded like it was constantly moving/ creaking and the rear defrost light was blinking. Still no screen or controls while in RUN. I was thinking maybe the telematics gateway module? I haven’t looked into them yet but the computer did find issues with it. If it’s the main communication module for everything then it would make sense that it’s bad.
  7. Ok. Will move forward with trying the hvac module and will report back wether that worked or not. That’s about the last thing I haven’t tried aside from the screen. And thanks, i appreciate it!
  8. Sorry to leave this post hanging. Had some personal things come up and haven’t been able to work on the car. I was finally able to swap in all the factory parts and hook a high end scanner to it, results below. First pic is right after he cleared the codes and the system rechecked. The second photo is after the car was started.
  9. I installed the radio myself. Only takes about 15 min to switch everything over aside from the air vent swap, which only takes another 10 min or so. Would the original screen failing also cause the climate control unit to fail/ not have power? With the aftermarket radio, the volume, power and tune knob all work, as well as the hazard light button. Everything else doesn’t work, including the trac control button. I even pulled the climate control panel apart and inspected the circuit boards for damage/ burns but the boards looked fine. Waiting for my friend to get here with the scanner and will go from there. Thanks again!
  10. Ok. I’ll start with the panel first. It does have the auto feature. As far as checking the codes, the mechanic at my fabrication yard has been out all week and has the scanner locked up with all the other tools. I have a buddy with a really high end snap on scanner that said he could bring it over today. Even with the aftermarket radio installed, the scanner should still be able to see what’s communicating and not communicating correct? I didn’t want the new radio to throw off what the scanner should be seeing and look at it as another potential problem. Thanks for all the responses, they’re a big help!
  11. The original 8.4 was factory. I was wondering if the panel and or climate control module is bad and that’s possibly what kept the screen from coming on in the first place? When the original 8.4 was still installed, in acc mode, I tried the control screen timeout to no avail. Now the 9” android comes on with no issue, wether in run or acc mode. I’m just still having the problem of what seems like no power or partial failure to the climate control seeings how it doesn’t even light up anymore. I’m gonna order a climate control module and see if that does the trick, if not then I will replace the control unit itself… grease up the parts cannon lol
  12. Welp, kinda took a bypass route. Bought on of the 8 core 9” android radio upgrades and installed it. It turns on wether in acc or run or with engine running. So it obviously wasn’t a power issue I was dealing with. Steering wheel controls work but the hvac control panel is black and doesn’t change hvac functions. I’m also unable to change hvac functions from the screen, due to hvac panel being off I’m sure. Is it common for those panels to go out? Weird thing is hazards, volume knob, radio power button and tune knob work. But none of the hvac controls, and the panel isn’t lighting up.
  13. 8.4” screen, everything works in acc mode. I don’t have controls of hvac when in acc, which is normal operation. As soon as I switch to run or even start the engine the screen goes and stays black, none of the hvac controls work when in run or with engine running. Every once in a while on start up the screen will quickly flash like it’s coming on but goes off right away. All fuses have been checked and replaced. I don’t think the screen is actually bad because it works just fine in acc mode. There’s something changing in the radio or screen or something when switching to run or starting the car. That’s why my next idea was to monitor power voltage going into the radio when going from acc to run, to see what happens, wether voltage drops off completely, lowers too much to power radio, or whatever it is that’s going on
  14. Btw. The replacement radio also does the same thing. It turns on right away when in ACC, everytime. As soon as you switch to RUN or start the car, screen goes black and all controls are dead. I assumed it may have been a module in the radio but having the same exact problem with a separate “tested” radio is telling me different.
