  1. Hi Steve,

I had this happen only folded under not pulled off. If you reach under the passenger seat from behind (2nd row) in the center you will find a latch. Pull the hook part towards you and it will release. Good luck.

Also, it helps to have someone help you by lifting the cushion up while you release the latch.

    that indeed worked...thanks!

  2. I've seen those too and I just gave up my Ford which I used that a lot on. I wish they had a Chrysler hard wired one. I haven't used the aftermarket one, but am very tempted. let me know if you end up doing it and I'll do the same.

Thanks, yeah, I'll let you know if I find something I really like. I've found one that is hardwired, but I guess what I had in mind didn't require cutting metal on the door and running down wires. Somebody had told me there was one out there that you screwed into the door, squirted a line of silicone around to seal it and give it that permanent appearance, but it took batteries and worked like your wireless keyless-entry remotes, just using a code instead of a single button.

The keypad I've got on my truck gets used a LOT...so I definitely want something.

If you are indeed looking for a hardwired one, though, check this link out: http://www.keyless.com/KE-1600%20Main.htm

  3. My wife locked herself out of her Journey the other day and as I was driving the 20 mile trip to "save" her, I was thinking about a product I know I've seen before...an aftermarket keyless entry keypad. I've got an OEM version on my Ford truck, so I know how handy they can be.

I've found some that seem pretty cheap in appearance and, I imagine, quality. I've found several websites that sell them for Fords, but not Dodge specific. I understand that the aftermarket ones are wireless, and operate similarly to a keyless entry remote...the proper code is entered and a signal is sent to the keyless entry system to unlock the door(s). The person that was describing this product to me indicated that it was a pretty straight-forward installation - that the keypad just adhered or is fastened to the exterior of the door (meaning no door-panel removal or drilling or cutting, etc, etc).

Anybody know of a product like what I'm describing, that will work for a Journey?

Any personal experience with an aftermarket product such as this?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Steve

  4. still trying for you............

hmmm seems like the REQ radio (6 disc non sat radio) has no random play, that seems to be very very strange. The RAQ radios had random but it looks like the REQ does not,.... still digging for you I want to be sure for you

holy fish sticks this isn't looking good,...

    check this link out....

    http://www.nitroforumz.com/showthread.php?t=5702

    Rob/HBT

well, they obviously gave the Journey a slightly different radio...mine IS a satellite 6-disc cd changer, however, no "RND" or "RAND" button anywhere - you'd think if they redid this radio that they'd realize the skipped that feature and would add it back! i'm guessing some guy in the radio design department ran out of buttons and just thought "oh well, no one will notice..."

    just my luck...

  5. I have gone through the manual to look for steps to change personal settings like beep on lock, unlock all doors with driver's door, etc. All I can find is directions on how to do this with the EVIC menu system. Since I have the SXT, I only have the basic display, not the full EVIC.

In my previous Dodge vehicles, there was a set of steps to change these settings involving turning the key a certain number of times, etc.

Is there any way to change these personal settings without the EVIC system?

I too have an SXT and was wondering the same thing...after reviewing the manual, I determined we're stuck with the factory defaults...no modifying available for us it looks like.

  6. i actually wish the armrest would lock in place when you move it...i find that it slides forward sometimes when i slow down or back when i accelerate, if i'm leaning on it.

as for the uconnect...LOVE this feature. we've got 3 phones set up for use on it and my wife uses it regularly. it really is handy!

  7. [quote nam

The premium convenience group code aam has this,...

air conditioning atc w/dual zone control

    federal a/c excise tax

    heated front seats

    remote start system

rr view auto dim mirror w/ microphone

    uconnect hands-free communication

actually, what comes with the premium convenience group is NOT the ATC...it's still manual. it's included on the R/T. although the website indicates it's included with the premium convenience group, it is not. we've got the SXT with the convenience group I, premium convenience group and flexible seating and, although we have 3-zone a/c, it's manual (which i actually prefer).

  8. yes sir, the key fob actually has a Valet key which slides out of the key fob. I didn't get a good look at it to see if another one could be cut. I do believe the dealer can get additional keys if need be.

On a side note, that is the exact one I ordered too, Everything the SXT AWD can come with except the smoker's group. Where are you from? ahhhh GTA  another Canadian, I'm from the Edmonton Alberta area. We ordered ours 1 week ago. Feels like a month already though.

    Rob/HBT

now to clarify, the removeable key JUST opens the doors (would be great if it locked the glove box, center console, rear storage cubby, etc...that way, when you leave it with a valet or shop, everything else is secure).

however, without the electronic key, the vehicle will not start.

  9. Turned out to be a switch in the brake area that was making the computer think the brake was pressed. Fixed all problems above.

you know, i never thought to mention that as a possibility, but i recall a similar problem my parents had on a mid-90's explorer they had bought new once before - it was some kind of cruise control problem relating to a brake fuse i believe, or something like that.

either way, i'm glad it's working well again.

  10. Just ordered an SXT FWD in black, and can't wait until May when it is supposed to be in. I do have a question to any new owners. Are the gas and brake pedals adjustable? I remember when test driving it, it seemed as if I couldn't rest my heel on the floor while depressing the gas, and really just assumed they were, however, I can't seem to find any info on the website.

    Thanks!

no, i kinda wish they were since you can really push the seat far back (and i like sitting pretty far back), but nope, they're stationary

    congrats on your order!

  11. Not that great of prices hence me gettign them on Ebay.

Put everything on the other day. Instructions are crap so unless you are handy let the dealer do it. You do need to drill for the splash guards also the front ones you need to go thru metal. Overall all ass. mentioned above took 2hr and that was taking my time and making some extra mods on my own. Plus getting to know my new vehicle from teh undercarraige a little better.

well, thanks for the update at least...not exactly what i wanted to hear though. i know i could probably figure it out on my own, which probably is the best way since dodge likely charges quite a bit for labor to install them.

  12. There's VERY little room behind the third row for anything...maybe a puck or two! if you're traveling with all three, and luggage, it will probably be a tight fit, no matter what their ages are. now, if one can sit in the third row with the seat next to him folded down, you may be able to load up luggage next to him.

I've ordered an SXT FWD in BLack and am sooo excited! Only 60 some odd sleeps I keep telling my kids - three boys. We do alot of travelling for rep hockey and lacrosse with usually just the two, so am hoping this will have enough room for overnight gear, and a hockey bag. Can't wait!
  13. that solves that then...if you're wanting the "flexible seating" (5+2), it's not available on the SE/4cyl - you'll have to step up to at least the SXT.

also, a couple of days ago i added some pics, one of which is the exterior of our silver SXT...go take a look at it, that may answer your color questions. the silver is a really great color...but, to each his own!

    Steve

Of course im getting the 5 + 2 seatings, of course you have to add another 1k to the price tag.

im getting the bright silver metallic, and as of right now there is no dealer withing 50 mile radius that has it.

I need help? What color is this pic

    http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/uploads/1...ery_2_85304.jpg

I thought it was bright silver metallic, but no sure. I want that color.

I really like this color but dont know if its silver steel or Bri bright silver metallic

  14. see now, you just answered a couple of questions i would have had - the cargo tray AND the slush mats i expected to be HEAVY solid rubber with big edges/lips to keep in water and such. i agree...they SHOULD be oversized and the fact that they are not steers me away from them for now. i may wait until another manufacturer comes out with their version of the slush mats.

indeed let me know about the splash guard installation, as that's one i definitely feel i'll want (along with the front air deflector...which reminds me, i've got to go back outside and put my second coat of touch-up paint on the hood of my toyota matrix...darn pebbles)

  15. Anyone add anything to your Journey yet?

I'm interested in a few things - the bug shield/front air deflector, the side window air deflectors, possibly the splash guards and most likely the slush floor mats.

I've noticed over the last day or so that more items seem to be showing up on eBay...maybe I'll just be a little patient for now...but with the paint chips on the hood we've had on both of our past vehicles, I doubt I'll wait for the front air deflector.

    Steve

  16. Yes, I've used Chrsyler's website tools before and they are very easy to navigate and use. Congrats on the new Journey. Any photos you can post? ;)

Sure...now please excuse the fact that I just had to wedge myself in the corner of our garage to take these pics...and excuse the fact that, even though we strategically chose silver to hide the dirt on rainy days like today, it still shows up in the pics! (and what looks like a red spot of paint on the door is really the reflection of a red reflector from one of my kids' bicycles)

  17. OK, I've got an SXT with the 6-disc in-dash changer...where are the random and repeat functions???

I'm pretty good at technical stuff and have thoroughly played with the radio in CD mode and read through the manual now cover-to-cover...and no mention of either of these functions!??!!!

If I've got the ability to load up 6 discs with plenty of MP3's (well, really I use WMA's, but...) then what's the point if I have to still listen to it all in alphabetical order??! I realize I can always just connect my Sansa (MP3 player)...heck, I've got 4200 songs on there, but I want a random mode on my CD player!!!!!

    Am I just missing it?!

    Steve

  18. My wife and I just traded in our '03 Honda Odyssey minivan for a silver Journey SXT FWD. I gotta hand it to Dodge, their website allowed me to build EXACTLY what we wanted and then I searched local inventories until I found an exact match. We worked the deal last night and picked it up this morning...we LOVE it!

The only options we wanted were the "Convenience Group I", the "Premium Convenience Group" and the "Flexible Seating" package.

Picked it up at Rockwall Dodge this morning and we couldnt be happier.
