As shown in picture one the yellow box highlighted is part to be removed.

Step 1 remove engine cover, air fliter cover, air filter and air filter box then have to remove next piece of intake which is held by a hose clamp once removed should look like picture 2

As shown in picture 3 with the yellow circle the green cap is the vent tube. Remove cap I found easiest to remove vent tube from metal bracket used a flat screwdriver. Found easier that way then remove cap from tube, again had to use a flat screwdriver to losen hose from cap. Also you may notice that 2 rubber hoses were disconnected I thought I had to remove more but was not needed.

As shown in pic 4 is the syringe style transfer pump. Has a max capacity of 200mL ( in Canada)

I then added 4 full tube with a total of 800ml of fluid but in the process I would pump about 50 mil then remove syringe to burp air so pressure dont build. Do this until all 800 ml is added and re install parts.

Found best to put car on ramps first and made sure I could remove vent cap before draining. My fluid was really dirty im sure it was original with 185km on the car.

    Great Write up ! Thanks

  2. Ok that makes sense. Lol in case someone takes the journey into bayou eh ! Lol

On a side note I went Jiffy Lube and I asked them to change my tranny filter and tranny oil. They said my 2011 journey rt doesn’t have a serviceable tranny filter. ???? And just change tranny  oil That’s it ?

I said let me do some research because I believe all cars have a serviceable tranny filter . What do you guys have to say ?

  3. Ok thanks for idea. I don’t think it’s heat shield this time. I had it tightened once when I backed up and to left it made rubbling sound. Since they tightened it has not made that sound.
this is a gear noise under load sounds like coming from under the radio center console area. Under load between 30-40km

  4. Hello fellow Journey owners

    2011 Journey RT Awd

I have recently started to hear a whirring noise when I lightly press the accelerator between 30 and 40 km hr. Goes away if I floor it and no noise lower speed. Does not make whirring noise when coasting in neutral. Only under load in drive. Higher speeds over 60km no noise.

I have new tranny fluid 4 months ago and new PTU awd 6 months ago. Do you think fluid levels are off?

any ideas ? This started 10/12 days ago.

  5. I am doing this tomorrow thanks so much for idea.

One question, when you pump the fluid in won’t you build up pressure? Aren’t you forcing fluid into a closed sealed unit ?

Im thinking like blowing into a bottle with you mouth, air has no where to go? Am I wrong in thinking this way ?
