  1. Our Journey, with its new engine is doing great. I'm very glad that we kept it instead of doing a buyback with Chrysler. Its unfortunate that the dealers don't have a network or something to communicate with each other, especially for uncommon issues. Our Journey wasn't released to us after the lifters and rocker arm assembly were replaced, they just kept it and ordered a new engine from the factory. Good luck with yours Shawna

  2. For those of us who purchased our Journeys, fortunately we have lifetime warranties on our power trains.

Unfortunately lifetime warranty does nothing about the aggravation & inconvenience caused by vehicle problems. I'd rather a vehicle was built correctly with no warranty offered. Maybe Chryslers ads should say, "thank God we give a lifetime warranty because you're sure going to need it"

  3. I'll believe the steering is fine & will remain fine when I no longer here or feel the noise. Can anyone say with any certainty that enough air won't be sucked in by the current pump to cause the steering to bind at a bad time? Who does Chrysler hire to drive/test these vehicles prior to releasing the model for sale to the public? It seems that since this problem is occurring within the first several hundred miles maybe someone wasn't doing there job or did the test drivers report this problem only to have it ignored.

  4. We got our Journey back on 7/31 after 25 more days at the dealer. Complete engine was replaced with no real explanation of what the problem was. While the engine out they found one of four bolts missing from the flywheel !! As for the odor problem, although the Chrysler District Rep wrote it off as "normal" the service mgr. persisted in trying to figure it out and checked out the transfer case. He found it full of what appeared to be used, burnt gear oil that was some how put in on the assembly line. The grinding on left turns continues and I'll be going back for that problem when I have time to drive it with a tech to point out the noise.

  5. Took our Journey SXT AWD back to the dealer on July 6, left turn noise & burning oil odor still there. The new problem was engine noise, sounded like lifters tapping upon startup then a low knock afterwards. Chrysler Rep. had the rocker assembly replaced by the dealer on 7/16 but this didn't correct the problem so he told the svc. mgr. that he ordered a complete engine assembly on 7/18. 2200 miles & the engines getting replaced!!! I'll be calling Chrysler on Monday.

  6. While taking a defensive driver course for work recently I learned the "recommended" way to adjust your mirrors is, " To adjust your mirrors properly, put your head against the left side door glass, then adjust your left mirror OUT until you just barely can (or barely can not) see the side of your car. THEN, move your head to the center of your car and adjust your right mirror out until you can barely (or barely can not) see the side of your car. The goal is to set it up so that once a car leaves your REAR view mirror, it appears in your SIDE view mirror - and once it leaves your SIDE view mirror, it appears in your side window/peripheral vision. Unfortunately, some American cars don't let you adjust the mirrors out far enough to completely accomplish this." After many years of driving I don't think I could adjust to this "proper" setting. I adjust mine in my car or truck the same way indianrefining does & I'll continue to do so. Cliff

  7. I haven't had a chance to check in on the welcome forum so I'll just say hello to everyone here. So, we traded our Caliber R/T for an inferno red SXT/AWD Journey on May 19. Since May 31 with only 840 miles it has been at the dealer for repairs, grinding/clicking on left turns, vibration from trans/shifter on left turns & a terrible, foul burning odor all the time. The odor is really bad & smells like burning gear oil. The dealer has replicated all problems, replaced parts in the power steering gear box & pump but cannot find the cause of the vibration or odor. They have scheduled a Chrysler Rep. to go out & check the vehicle hopefully by Monday or Tuesday. I hope they can straighten things out because we really love this vehicle. Cliff
