  1. You will need to either use the leb bulb option or purchase new complete fog light kits, as both high wattage bulbs will get hot and melt housing at some point, even my new white 35w bulbs ruined two housing because it is difficult to get that brands bulb to fit perfectly. I am using the led bulbs now and they work nicely.

Link1 Link 2 or use what i just got, google search for h16 led fog lights.

I am looking to get better lighting for my fogs and I am curious do these H16 led fog bulb replacement do they provide additional brightness when compared to the stock philips bulb?

I noticed your link 1 had a nice led kit and wanted to confirm would this also melt the housing.

  2. I was at the dodge dealership getting my coolant / AT fluid and Power steering flushed and saw the 2012 Dodge journey R/T in the service bay. I liked what I saw. I decided to visit the dodge canada site and decided to build one to check the price out. I noticed that there is a 2012 Dodge Journey R/T Rallye but I can not find any specs on this model on the dodge canada site. Went to the Dodge USA site but no such model on there site.

Just wondering if any body knows more about this one.

  3. I just picked my winter rims + tires and paid about $ 79 per 16x 6.5 black steel rim. Got the 225/70R16 Toyo Observe GSI-5.

They installed the sensors I brought in for free. I manage to get the sensors from the states for about $136 for 4 sensors (incl shipping). Supplier had a GST number so did not have to pay any custom duties.

  4. I have searched around for a set of tpms for my journey as I would like to have them on my winter rim. I ordered a set from rock auto and paid about 27 Canadian per tpms + shipping. I have not had a chance to see if they work as here in Edmonton it's still around 24 celcius here. But I am sure by mid oct it will change

  5. The funny thing is I picked up my journey today after the L25 recall and the following was on my work order:

"Please be advised if the tire presure sensor valve stems break upon inspecting tire pressures due to rust/corrosion or lack of maintence they will not be covered under warranty . . Would you still likes them checked . YES________ No____"

This is the first time this has happened to me. And do all my service/oil change and other issues at this dealer. But why now suddenly at 48,000km? I found this odd and now I am wondering if there is a problem or not.

I did not know you had to do maintnance on this TPS valve stem.

  6. I had my brake rotars replaced front and back (dealer did front for free, 2nd time they did this) and had my back replaced at about 40,500 km. Journey was in again (safety recal L25 and no surprise on back order from the states) with the dealer and they told me my brakes need servicing due to alot of brake dust. I am wondering is this normal to have alot of brake dust after 8,000km on new rotors? Vehicule will go in again for the "L25" and will get the brakes serviced but just wanted your opinion if this is normal or not.

    thanks,

  7. My blinker and rear brake light went out at about 18k, also very dissapointed in the little things that keep breaking on my new car!! I do love it but it's annoying. Now I have a clicking noise whenever I make a right or left hand turn, brought it in for service and at first they told me they couldn't hear anything, so I took a drive with them pointed it out and still they say they can't find what's wrong and put a call into Chrysler....3 weeks later still no word!

Well I have replaced both lieft and right signal.brake bulbs. The left went at around less then 20000 km and today I replaced my right rear and around 31000 K.

  8. Hello fellow Journey owners..

We purchased our new Journey R/T 2010 model approximately 1 month ago. We were initially impressed with the dark window tinting on all rear windows, but always thought we'd tint the two front windows also..

We were told today by our window tinter that all of our rear windows offer no UV protection at all... Quite a concern when you are carrying children in the car and have beautiful leather seating...

Our two front windows are now tinted in a UV safe tint. We enquired about getting a UV safe film fitted to all rear windows to protect our children and interior and will cost about $250 to get it done.

Not sure if what I have been told is correct or not by our window tinter.. Just thought I'd put it out there for discussion and feedback in this forum....

I am not too sure about the factory window tint if they protect from UV rays but I know the after market window tint due offer it. When I purchased the vehicule i asked the dealer to tint all windows to a level similar to my G6.

One thing you could due is on a sunny day is to sit in the back and feel how much heat is coming in and role the window down and see if feels different. If it doesn't then I don't think it offer too much protection. I know with after market you can tell the difference. But this depends on the level of tint you purchase. Here in edmonton canada I think they have 5 different levels and 5% being limo tint, I have 12% on all back windows and the front I do not remeber but i thought it was around 30%.

  9. yep ... stick your nose in the headlamps housing , you will see that the low beam bulb is covered so Halogen or HID the light is projected. However High beam is not.

OK if that is the case I just want to point out Subaru Forester comes with HID headlights and they do not use a projected beam. And this is not an after market HID this comes stock equipped on some trim levels, and yes bulb is covered. Same thing with the Acura CSX also HID stock at some trim levels and once again no projected beam.

  10. Well had a chance this weekend to make a pic of my Journey with the HID's. They look very nice, but I am happy with the much improved night time visibility that it provides. So far I have not come across any Dodge Journey's in Edmonton with HID's, so I think it pretty unique.

Not sure but I am not able to upload pic, I will have to find a third party website

Well Finaly got around to adding a pic. Here it is. I am just thinking I need to get a whiter bulb for my fogs to get a better matching look, any ideas?

    Thanks,

  11. Hello,

They sound comes from the top left somewhere next to the engine? I get somethign similiar and it is only when the vehicule idles at a traffic light or in park. But when I accelerate you here a the sound go to a high pitch then disappear. I got all the service managers to hear and the shop foreman, but whern it came to work on the vehicule it just could not be duplicated. It is very frustrating let me know what the other dealer says. I plan to take it to another dealer as well and see how they deal with it.

Even the lube bay guys here it and everytime I come in for an oil change they ask me how the "lemon" is doing. I just can sit there and smile. I only have 25,000 km on the journey.

I've had this intermittent chirping noise for several months. No TSB's on the noise. Been to 2 dealership and still no fix. The first dealer, Johnson Brothers, thought it was the belt idler pulley , then the belt tensioner and finally the alternator. Noise still there with all the new parts. I like parts changers as it keep everything looking new under the hood.

Moved on to the Transitowne dealership and they had 3 tries at the noise and still no fix. The last time they just parked the car, went out and started it several times without driving it. Zero miles on it when I picked it up. They couldn't duplicate the noise. The next day the noise was back. Called and talked to the same service writer with no results so I told him "Nice knowing you"

One more dealer to try in the area. Then if it's not fixed, I'll just drive it till the noise is so load a monkey could find it. Sound pissed, you bet. So if anyone has this type of noise, I'd appreciated your input. Even better if you have a fix for it.

  12. Hi guys,

I also hear a sound when my vehicule idols at a traffic light and when I accelrate it goes high pich and disappears, I have been to the dea;er numerous times to show them but did not happen, finaly i manage to get the service advisors to hear it and left it at the dealer and came back "unable to duplicate customer conerns", I was quite unhappy and again discussed they said if happens gain bring it in and ask for shop foreman, it did happen brought it in and he heard it left it there and they were not able to duplicate anymore. They tell me they can not do anything inless it is consistant but not sure what to do.

I hope when I get back my brother has more news on it but it is realy frustrating dealing with this. I have decided to start making notes when it happens and make recording of it.

    Thanks,

    ZAC

Just a few days after purchasing my Journey in June I noted a howling noise coming from either the engine or transmission as the vehicle was climbing even the slightest grade. I brought it to the dealer. They heard the same, but didn't know whether this might be normal or an issue. They said they'd check with Chrysler and test some other Journeys on the lot to see if they experienced the same with those. No word on what they heard from Chrysler (I suspect they never checked). They claimed to have experienced the same with two other Journeys on their lot. Today (totally fed up with the noise) I brought it back into the dealership (the noise--which sounds like blowing air slowly over the mouth of a glass soda bottle--has gotten progressively worse). I test drove a demo with 5,500 miles on it and a brand new vehicle (both 3.5L V6s, like mine) and did NOT hear the noise with either. I forced the tech to ride with me in the newer vehicle to witness that the same problem does NOT exist with that vehicle. He admitted it wasn't an issue. He also admitted he doesn't have a clue what's wrong with my vehicle.

Bottom line--has anyone experienced the same? If so, have you somehow resolved this issue? BTW: I've also experienced the rear wheel well squeak and the rubbing noise in the left front wheel well other have experienced.

  13. Been quite busy but what I understand now is most dodge/chrysler vehicules the computer is involved and it is not a real plug and play device as vehicules from japan. Anyhow I have driven at night with them on and all I can say is wow it makes a huge difference.

    thansk again for yoru help.

  14. Hi guys,

SPeaking of synthetic oil, I got my oil changed and they put in 5w30 castrol systhetic in, while the oil cap sayw 10w30. I asked the dealer and he told me castrol synthetic 5w30 is the same as convetional 10w30. Not sure what is true and hoping to get input. also the dealer says they did not carry 10w 30 .

    thanks

  15. Without seeing it, it is hard to say what they did wrong. Having all your lights on at the same time is reason enough for them to fix it, because like you said, I thought it was not allow also. Other guys on here have your same headlight setup and thier HIDs work fine, but they did it themselves. Maybe they will chime in on what you can do. Hope it works out.

  16. I never heard of this problem. I'm not sure what they are talking about. HIDs basically (long story short) plug into the low beam connector. I don't see why they would need to trick the computer at all. They must have done something that was totally different than a basic install. Read the install instruction above and compair it to your setup and see if they did something different. Also ask them have they installed HIDs before. Do you have the instructions they used?

I do not have the instructions they used, but I figure I could ask for them I guesse. I would like to go to them with a convincing case but I gure they do not want to spend more time on it. Any suggestion on how to do that.

Its pretty odd as now when I turn my parking lights on and drive I can actualy have my DRL (high beam at lower intensity, HID (low beam) and fogs on at the same time. Which I allways thought was not allowed.

    1.

  17. So I finaly got the HID installed by the dealer. After taking it home I noticed when I turned the parking lights on the following occured:

DRL / High beam are on

HID's / low beams come on also. (prior to install did not occur)

Typicaly this did not occur prior to install and I spoke to the dealer they were on about they had to trick the computer and had to have it activate when the parking setting is selected. I was wondering if anybody might no a way around this ?

    thanks
