  1. Ok, I experienced the front brake rotors needing to be replaced and took the car in for the warranty work. The next day I had shuddering engine issues like is being mentioned. When I took the car in they mentioned the exact same 5th cylinder issue and that it was carboned up and needed cleaning. They told me to use better gas...When I got the car back I was driving it around the very next day and the shuddering returned, as well the check engine light started to flash. Took it in and they had to rebuild the top-end including new head gasket. 2 weeks in the shop later I got it back and everything was fixed under warranty which also included cost of rental car. 22000km's and I'm scared to own this thing now...

  2. We have 19980 km's on our 2010 Journey SXT. I called Chrysler Canada yesterday to verify first what was covered. They said we had full replacement warranty on brake pads and rotors up to 20,000km or 1yr. Dealership replaced both front rotors and brake pads yesterday at no cost. They said one side was definitely alot worse than the other but based it possibly on somebody riding the brake pedal??? How my wife could do that intentionally I do not know...

Anyways, I could definitely feel at high speeds a wobble while braking which clued me into the fact I might have a rotor issues.

  3. Here is where you should check:

    http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.jsp?screenName=recall

It will verify what recalls have been performed to date and list other (new) ones.

I checked this out today and it reports nothing is listed for my 2010 sxt Journey. I did however get a note from Dodge that there was a firmware upgrade available that fixes a low windshield washer fluid reading. I'm guessing not everything is being reported on that site but was wondering if anyone else knew about a firmware upgrade?

  4. Hi,

I have a 2010 Journey SXT with 5000km on it. I had to drop it off at the dealer this morning due to a power steering pump failure.

I had an '03 and a '06 Dodge Caravan that both had the power steering pumps fail at low mileage. Anyone else have issues like this on their Journey's? Is this a known Dodge thing or just my bad luck? .... maybe it's my wifes fault somehow ...

  5. I have an almost 2 month old 2010 sxt and so far no probs besides a blown tire due to nails.

I am in Winnipeg and we just went through a cold snap down to -30 with up to -38 with the wind chill and this vehicle had no cold starting issues at all. Definitely grumbled a little on the cold start but still turned over and ran. I Was kinda surprised too with the ice and snow we have how well it handles with the factory Kumho's. Pretty impressed at this point.

  6. That sucks and I feel your pain. I've driven through construction sites littered with screws and nails and I've had lodged in my tires over the years.

If you are near the border and you can make it down there with your Journey, you could buy from the US. I found they are substantially cheaper than in Canada. Check this thread:

    Good Place for Kuhmo Tires

Not the same size tire, but it should be around the same price for your size.

I've just recently bought new tires for my other car at Discount Tire in the US and saved a few hundred dollars. Customs charged me only GST and PST and didn't bother with duty (which is an extra 7% I believe).

If you can make it down there, it's worth it.

PS> For online retailers that don't have physical locations (like the one above), you could ship to either a US PO box and then pick it up and have it installed, or to the actual shop that will be installing your tires. Just make sure you call them to let them know and to have them call you when they arrive.

Thanks for the tip, I am only 1.5hrs from the border and I know a few places I can have them shipped to. Never thought of doing that and then having them installed before coming back... very interesting.

  7. So I have had my 2010 sxt for about 3 weeks now and lucky me some nut dumped a load of nails on a bridge near my house. Even luckier I had to be one of the hundred people to get nails in their tires and then even luckier me; one of suckers had to pierce the sidewall forcing a replacement.

Anyways, I had to wait over a week for them to locate a replacement tire. In phoning around I have found out that the tires are nearly impossible to locate due to a shortage of them making it to Canada. Not sure about the US though. Repacement and service cost $250, ouch. Still looking to see if it can be an insurance claim or not.

  8. Thought I would pop in and say hello. I've had my 2010 sxt for about 3 weeks so far and love it.

Was looking at purchasing a hitch and such which brought me to this site. Realized after everything was signed, sealed and delivered that the trailer prep group didn't include an actual hitch- who knew?
