  1. Yes its a problem. Well known by dealers.

There are 2 issues, the first is the most common, its all down to the interior movement sensors for the alarm. There is a replacement kit from the dealer that will solve it....it did mine, I'm surprised yours hasn't been done already.

Until the second problem developed. Its identical symptoms...only the key fob doesn't turn it off. In fact the key fob does nothing! Dealer can't find anything wrong. Have to carry a spanner with me to undo one of the power feeds to reset the internal gubbins.....I had it down to about 45 seconds at the end, but its no good at 2am!

Long story short....now got rid of it, couldn't risk the alarm and no way to reset it. Got a very very good deal....it was a 59plate....I wonder if you bought it!!!

(But I miss my Journey and would buy the Fiat if it comes here!).

  2. Yes, UK here and its not good. It works but requires a lot of force and being on the wrong side of the centre console, it seems I pull it sideways as well.

I also seem to have the opposite problem as well, it sticks. Not the designed in stick on for a few seconds, mine is a stuck on when you leave the car and return after a few hours/days. Been back and apparently its fine according to my dealer.

  3. What a huge variation on brake life. Some covered by warranty at higher Kms then others in the same country on lower kms.

There has to be a solution here.....the fact some are covered while others arent shows they are not treating everyone the same. And in my opinion, under consumer law in all the countries we have represented here, they have to treat all equal unless they can show a valid reason why not to do so.

AUD850 plus the service costs adds up to a huge cost per km and that puts it well above anything else in its class.

Brakes usually out in 12k? .....pls explain!

  4. I take it you wrote that whilst still in the car at 75mph and bluetoothed it somewhere....with those miles and time of ownership i doubt you ever actually get out of it!!!

Nice report though, here in UK we dont get yr engines so may not get the symptoms in the auto box you report. And if i got 23 average MPG i'd cry......I aim for 40!

  5. 53 yr old living in Suffolk, England. 3 kids this time round, 2, 5 and 12. Married 3 times, (not my fault...its that 'love' thing!), got 10 kids in total scattered over the planet! In contact with them all and their Mothers who when i visit i stay with with! Nomadic by nature, lived in many different places and have been in UK this time 10 yrs which is too long and i'm thinking its time to move on! My wife isnt!

I commute to London each day and when i'm on shift i am responsible for keeping one of the Underground lines moving in London. Sometimes in winter i never see daylight for days on end. Our building is secure and mostly underground.

  6. Its not a design fault. As stated above, its common. If you open a window, the air tries to get in and when eventually the inside pressure is high enough to overcome the force of the wind past the window, it 'pops' out. And then does it again.

    and again

    And again

All cars will do it unless they are not air tight....hence open the other window a little and the pressure doesnt build. I am surprised you havent come across this before.

  7. Mine has a few minor problems but its not caused me any major concerns. My dealer tries very hard but are basically innefective. My only problem i'd like resolved is that i wasn't told it sat for 15 months before i got it...it was made 06/08 and i took delivery in 09/09. I wouldnt have bought it if i had known that......for 2 reasons, first is that being one of the first made i wonder if they knew what they were doing...ie go practice on someone elses car!!! Secondly, sitting for so long surely cant be good for it. For example, we all know a/c compressor should be run regularly to lube the seal, mine sat for 15 months.....Chrysler have refused to comment so far.....

  8. You arent the only one!!! It has happened in every country where they are sent. I am in England, mine went exactly like yours did but here they dont come with a spare wheel, only rubber gunk in a can. So i was stranded. They came out and picked it up, took it back, replaced the valve all under warranty. Its not a fault of the tyres, its a Dodge part thats failed and therefore claimable under warranty.

I was told it could be down to the winter, we had a pretty bad one here as well, it was minus something everyday for nearly 2 months. They say water gets into the valve and freezes, thus cracking the plastic of the stem. But that doesnt explain the ones that have split in Australia!!!

  9. Hi Mal

Yep, Discs! Just thought I'd be clever and use the American lingo for the majority of watchers, as there seem to be a lot of US and Canadian followers.

Have you been on the Caliber Owners UK website?

Interseting info on getting more performance out of your Journey by simply pushing down the throttle pedal slowly (20secs) when ignition on but not started and lights all gone off, then releasing slowly and switching off. Once started again instant improvement---I did it and it works! Please, please , read the blog in case I've missed something out!

By the way, some of our CDJ dealers in the UK are pretty poor. How about this: got a service done and 100 miles later oil change light came on. Took it to dealer for reset, they don't know how to do it!!! looked it up in my handbook and did it myself--simple to do. makes you wonder what training they get?

    Routemaster

I knew what you meant!!! Yep, i'm a regular on the UK forum.

I did the reset thing and also got an instant improvement as well....good stuff on that thread!

Mine is in for its first service in a week or so, i have no confidence in them at all.....its been back a few times for the same things, i get most of my answers on these forums and report it to them!!!

  10. Hi, Just thought I'd introduce myself.

I own a 2009 diesel SXT here in the uk.(I,m based in Birchington on the East Kent Coast) Just like "Wolfs" its inferno red and is fully optioned with sat nav, my gig and DVD etc.

I have the car on lease as a company vehicle and its covered 30k miles since June 2009.

Not been without its issues (like some of your one's too, judging by the various posts I've read.)

So far its had: Turbo, EGR valve, rotors, pads, wheels, torch, and is still troubled with brake squeel and a faulty alarm.

Having said all that, I would not change it for anything else (and that's from a confirmed GM fan who has restored and owns a hot rodded 1956 Chevrolet bel air)

Thanks for the posts, they are a useful insight and together with the excellent UK website (Caliber owners) has helped me see through the mist of annoyance and frustration.

I will post some pics of "The Routemaster" as the Journey is affectionately named by my Grand Kids -for non UK viewers a Routemaster is a Red London Bus.

Well, at least they got the colour right-sort of and their only 2 and 3 yrs old.

    Bye for now

    Routemaster

Rotors???????? I think you mean discs.........!!!!!

Oh...and......Snap!!!! (Except i still have the original turbo, egr, rotors, pads, wheels and torch. Bu ti wonder for how long....)

  11. Today 13.3.2010 my tyre valve split whilst checking pressure. Took tyre to dealer £30 for new valve plus £28 to have warning light reset. Didn't pay - put a rubber tyre valve in does the job and is flexible. Have warning light on dash - hey ho (I know when I have a puncture) going to change all valves to rubber and instal protex tyre sealant to prevent punctures. Cost of changing valves £15 for 4 tyres installation of anti pucture (protex) £70. I say fancy warning lights and valves are a rip off big time. Mines is a Journey SXT auto CRD 09 model. I tried the warranty route - no use at weekends as no mechanics available to look at broken valve.

I understand the frustration. I will look at a slim spare, thats what is now fitted to the 2010 models. Im lucky that i live near a train station and have a second vehicle, but i shall make Dodge pay for all its faults, and i have to say the Dodge breakdown service is very very good.

You can turn the light of...its in the manual, i remember reading it somewhere!!!!
