  1. RB5 Nav Radio for sale

I suspect that I'm going to regret doing this at some point, but I am selling my spare nav radio. Because of a perfect storm of circumstances I ended up buying two radios. One is installed in my vehicle and, because of FCA's now-resolved software bug in the RB5 I had decided to keep the second unit as a spare and it sits on a shelf in my garage - I have been hanging on to it for if (or when) the one in my dash might give up the ghost - now that FCA claims this has been resolved I no longer need it. FCA released the R65 recall because they state resolves the software glitch in the device, but more importantly, I have just resolved someone else's 'can't unlock maps' problem, so I know how to recover from the problem should it occur anyway. This is the third (latest) generation of the radio and it supports traffic, something the previous generations do not. It will work in all 2011 and later Journeys with the 8.4 inch screen (or you can convert your 4.3 to an 8.4 and then use this as your radio and get navigation, though the required components for the screen conversion are not included). I had temporarily installed and activated it to test it out and everything radio-related works - AM/FM/Sirius and Nav. I admit that perhaps while I should have, I did NOT check the DVD player though I have no reason to believe that it has any issues. So I'm offering my spare for the same amount I paid for it - US$800 plus shipping. I will ship it either from 12919 or from Montreal, Quebec, depending on where the buyer is located. I am not going to update the radio here because I really don't feel like pulling out one radio to install the other solely to flash it, but I will make the necessary files (and more) available to the buyer from my Dropbox. PM me for details if interested. Images are clickable if you want to see the large version:
  2. Well, I had enough parts to attempt the 8.4 upgrade from the 4.3S today. I have a 2014 Journey but found out that the Dart receivers are NOT compatible with the Journeys, lesson learned. The unit I got was listed as Nav but when I checked it out it is not, which is just as well as I will be returning it because it doesn't fit. Here's the most important question I have - what model receivers are compatible for the swap? I am under the impression that Chargers are and possibly 300's as well. (although the background color may be different). Does anyone have any more info? I know that I can't get a 2014 Journey nav radio as they don't make those. I hooked everything up and nothing worked. I don't know if that's because it was a Dart setup or if the receiver I got just flat doesn't work. I've read a lot on here (and even the Dart forum) on upgrading the radio. I even contacted Uconnect and they told me that it's the same system (rb5, but I know they don't offer Rb5 in the current Journeys) in the Darts as in the Journeys. Although I'm guessing that even if it's the same system I know the mounting box isn't the same. I really wouldn't be too against the RE2's but I want Nav capability down the road even if I don't need it right now. I am stumbling through this... Would the 8.4" screen work with 4.3 receiver? Even that didn't work when it was hooked up and I'm hoping it's because the receiver wasn't communicating properly with the screen. Thanks for any help
  3. I got an RB5 some time ago from Steve White Motors (good guys). Did the install up here in NJ where I live and got it at: 1. NAV is working 2. Backup camera is activated and working 3. Temp control stuck at 22 degree celsius 4. No UConnect (no bluetooth) I put in the unit ID onto Mopar's nav update site and it tells me it's a 2012 RB5 and the update is a 2017 map update Part number 010-12463-11. Anyway it says not for model year 2013 and forward so I've got the question: OK to upgrade the NAV?
  4. Ive come across an issue with my nav screen on my uconnect constantly rebooting. It'll display the garmin logo followed by ctp2012 and copyright info. Then a black screen and the process repeats. Ive tried and successfully applied the 2 updates available on the uconnect website. However this has not solved the problem. My closest dealer is over 2 hours away. So any remote help is appreciated and the car is out of its warranty period. can supply a screenshot of the dealer mode screen for HWid etc if required, however theres no factory reset in there or anything.
  5. Hi all. I am considering adding a lockpick to my 8.4N RB5 (2016 RT). I noticed that they list the c8/c8 pro as being compatible with 2011-2015 DJs and was wondering if anyone with a '16 is running one? I assume it will work since I believe the 8.4 is the same as the previous years but want to make sure before ordering. Thanks for any input
  6. This topic has probably been discussed a lot, but there are varying opinions. Most people say that the dealers will say "no" to any kind of infotainment upgrade such as this. Others here have demonstrated the quick and easy installation of one of these. There seems to be no definitive answer, SO: Has anybody put an 8.4N and RB5 in a Journey SE? (Replacing the RHA 4.3) Does anybody know the difference between an SE and a VLP SE? (Variable Line Pressure for Transmission, I think)- how would this affect the wiring harness? Some Chrysler parts websites will list that this particular unit will work iin a 2013 VLP SE but it doesn't mention the simple "SE". For what it's worth, if I were to install a backup camera, I would get the factory part, the then just hook up a wireless transmitter from a cheap camera (cut the camera off and wire it to the factory one), and use the reverse light as power, and then hook up the receiver to the head unit where the normal plug would go. Saves tearing up the interior. 2013 Journey SE 4.3 radio
