OhareFred got a reaction from ElkDung in Headlights Full of Water
There is a rubber vent tube on the back of the headlight assembly. If it’s plugged it can cause this to happen. The fixture needs to breathe especially with halogen lamps that burn very hot..

This is a known problem with the DJ. Can cause everything from bulbs not lighting to door lock malfunction. Very nice shot of the problem area. Not always clear when being described.

I am sick of people who drive under the speed limit, or so far over they both are reckless. People need to pay attention and drive the friggen car! Put the phone away mr or mrs important.......

OhareFred got a reaction from DGarner in battery size
I put the biggest one (both cca and physical size) that would fit. A bigger battery is definitely better. Never heard of such a thing as having to go to the dealer after changing a battery, but if you are worried pick up a memory saver (a 9 volt battery that plugs into your power socket) this prevents the computers from losing everything while you change your .battery

so he turned his cold air feed fed in from the front grill into a hot air feed from the engine heat,, sure makes more noise ,kind of like the old days when we flipped our air filter lid upside down on on the filter housing that sure made more noise sounded good but that is all it did

Thank you. I didn't realize I had posted the question twice. I've never been part of a Q&A forum before and I'm not exactly sure how it even happened.. So my sincerest apologizes, guess it's not just my radio that I'm clueless about

OhareFred got a reaction from Summer Solstice in Inverted reverse camera
According to FCA, the factory location for the backup camera on a 2019 is by the license plate with the display in the radio screen (was like that on my 09 as well). What you have is an aftermarket system, likely added by the dealer before you bought it. I’d go to wherever you bought your car and ask them about it. It is not a factory system.

In agreement with OhareFred on this one.....my 2011 didnt have the OEM rear cam from the factory, i i checked with several dealership and they said it couldn't add the oem BUT they could add one that the rear view mirror would show the image instead of my 8.4 in dash screen, but it wasnt an oem, i waited another year and then the oem became available so then i had it installed

OhareFred reacted to 5rebel9 in 09 dodge journey wont drive at all
So you've gone a year with NO FORWARD GEARS and just recently got reverse back AFTER some unspecified repair???
WHAT engine and is this FWD or AWD???\
Drop the trans oil pan and check for the filter having "popped out" of it's mounting into the valve body. It is the pick up point for fluid to pump thru the trans. It may pick up enough with it dislodged for REVERSE, but from experience NOT for forward gears.
Hit a ditch a year ago and has not been driven since? Best to check for a damaged CV Joint may grab and hold for REVERSE but not forward gears.
NOT a whole lot of specific info given by you, so there are a large number of possibilities as to a fix of your trouble

Changing the brand of coils won't give you any power. Also, there is no chip that works with these cars. If it's advertised to work, it's fake. Chips are garbage.

OhareFred got a reaction from jkeaton in Inverted reverse camera
I know my dealer would remove the antenna when they washed it.
anyway, I thought the camera being in the review was not OEM, but was not sure if they changed it for 2019. I thought cars had to come with a backup camera after 2017 or there about s. Sounds like the review camera is aftermarket, question now is who put it in?

OhareFred reacted to John/Horace in 2011 Journey wont start
With a remote battery set up like the Journey there are extra ground and power connections under hood.
If I was having starting issues, cleaning up the extra connections under hood would be a good idea.
Sometimes ground connections are mounted on painted surfaces. It. never hurts sanding off paint and getting bare metal and putting a thin coat of dielectric grease on both power and ground contacts. Battery connections should never have green corrosion.

Sounds like you need a new transmission. Who did all the other transmission work?

OhareFred reacted to John/Horace in Engine RPM surge when coming to a stop
Nice to see your detailed pics and a solution to the transmission problem. More intimidating to work on then the rest of the car sometimes. I lifted the signature quote from some southern US guy on another forum.
A little blasphemes, but it made me smile too. Sometimes you need a laugh.

OhareFred reacted to 5rebel9 in Help!
After looking up replacement Thermostats for the 3.6 motor on a number of parts sites, I found the OE standard replacement is a 203*f T-stat. IF the needle gage on the dash stays at mid scale and the EVIC display is showing from 215 to 225*, I'm beginning to think there may be NOTHING WRONG.
Come to think of it, the wife's 08 Pontiac G6 has only an analog (needle) gage and it's scale reads at 225*f at operating temp. It IS VERIFIED that that is where it is supposed to show and is NOT overheating.
On the OP's Journey, make sure the radiator fan does turn on with A/C use nd at extended time of high engine temp without A/C engaged (this will run for shorter time due to temp programmed on/off by the cars computer).

as mentioned above you should not have to use any additives for your journey to run correctly, it could be any of the above comments that is making it run a bit hotter , as said have them check to make sure all the air has been bleed out of the whole system.good luck and report back what you find.....PS is the place that replaced your rad and other parts a regular shop or rad shop? i would be having them recheck everything as they did the job and should have the knowledge on what is wrong

OhareFred reacted to 5rebel9 in Dodge Journey 2009 won’t start, spinning but engine won’t engage
I've been doing my best to bear with you through all of this. Particularly about the BIG difference between the Serpentine (alternator belt) and checking the Timing belt which is enclosed in plastic covers low on the motor on passenger side. IF that belt has stripped off cog teeth or snapped, there is NO GOING FORWARD to get the motor running.
As we can not see your car to tell you just what is needed, these BASIC checks(even tho difficult for a novice) HAVE to be done.

OhareFred got a reaction from Armando G in Dodge Journey won’t start
So I understand this correctly, you can’t check the oil because the stick is broken (happened on my 09 as well) but you added oil….why? Not to be mean, but it becoming apparent that either you are not very mechanically inclined or that you are not maintaining this car correctly, throwing parts at it, and asking why it won’t run. It may be cheaper to tow it to a repair facility and have them tell you what’s wrong. If you can’t/don’t want to, then this is how I would proceed.
If I were you, I would do the following things before I went another step further, even if it means taking them out/off the car to do it:
1: Get the battery tested with an electronic battery tester, not the old carbon pile type.
2: Get the alternator tested and verify it’s the correct one.
3: Fix the dipstick. Too much oil is as bad as too little. Sometimes you can grab the broken end with a pair of needle nose pliers, then just install a new one.
once those are done

Okay. We have to drive an hour out to the car because the nearest autozone is an hour away. It’s so tiring and stressful. We’ve drove back and forth so many times. But this will be our last try.

As member Oharefred posted and you now report of interior stuff now NOT working. The basic battery system needs first attention, RECHECK cable connections hopefully terminals of the battery cables were cleaned when battery was replaced before. but now a terminal clamp my have worked loose. YES your posted door latch and glove box problem will cause a "not in use" drain on the battery. BUT you should be able to drive and have the alternator charge enough to travel as you posted originally. Your couple week old battery may now be too drained to accept and hold ant jump or quick charge. Also the antitheft system can "kick in" when such things as the door latch or battery connections are not good.
My it is sounding like there is more going on than what was originally posted.....
