I notice that also and the dealer also noted to make sure the idle drops before changing gears from park into drive ( I always back into driveway). You know how sometimes your in a hurry and simply start it up and shift. For sure a loud clunk and a little jolt if not idled down when first started.

The local tint shop I use ( Ontario Canada ) also uses the thicker film. Almost like a rubber and it looked great on another vehicle he showed me.When we had our headlight covers done it looked like you had to know what you were doing. Maybe not a job to tackle yourself ? Looks like your journey is begging for a little tint on its front windows too Ha Ha

If you do not know the age of the battery, that may be the issue not that it is not big enough. If you are concerned get it load tested or simply remove the current one and replace with a quality new battery. If I recall there was a little extra room where the battery sits but, getting it into position was tight. I do not know if you could get a bigger battery into position in the first place. If it is cold enough, any battery will be affected, just buy the same physical size battery with the highest CC amps if that is what you want. Do yourself a favor and treat all the connections with protective grease before sealing everything back up, a bit of a PITA having to open it all up multiple times.

Can't believe it has been 10 years here, enjoyed reading  and learning from all of you.  Our 2012 SXT 3.6 L with 131,000 kms has treated out family very well but just was time to move on to another vehicle,, more and more things starting to need replacement it seems simply due to age / mileage ( plus the $6000 trade offer I got ).. The boys no longer need a baseball and hockey team equipment hauling around vehicle.  Guess that means it is time for dad to finally get something for himself, a black 2021 Colorado Z71 midnight edition.  Thanks to everyone who helped educate me and hope I in turn was able to help some others a little also. My journey will be remembered as one of the most trouble free vehicles I've owned besides the damn partial heater core plugging / poor heat on passenger side issue LOL. Take care everyone.

Definitely the 3.6 L, our 2012  bought new has now 130,000 kms only required brakes, heater core, wheel hubs and spark plugs change... I chose to change the trans filter and fluid. I have no complaints and it has treated us well for the past 10 years.

Let us guess, little or no heat on the passenger side vents ?  Check all actuator door operations, if working; my guess lower half of heater core plugged. might need to replace the core ?
    As mentioned, need more details.

    Jeremy,
I know this does not help your issue but why not simply put a bunch and I mean hundreds of your favorites on a thumb drive formatted first to fat32 and play them as MP3  audio songs ?  I do not think I have ever used our DJ CD player.

Might be a great time to trade it in on a new vehicle or maybe a new Journey as since it is the last yr on them there should be some great deals on them, wouldst want to sell it to anyone but with a dealership they are always trying to screw you so i wouldn't have ant problem dropping it on them as they are just going to wholesale it off anyway

probak118 reacted to John/Horace in Transmission: Flush? Or drain and fill?
Pan needs to be dropped, filter replaced, magnet cleaned and new atf+4 fluid added.
Dropping pan gets about 5 litres out of 11 approx in system.  I top up the 5, run it through the gears at less than 40 mph so torque converter gets flushed out. Then syphon out oil from dipstick, usually 4 litres will come out. Then top up again.

It’s messy and timing consuming doing this; but just a flush with out it is not a great idea. Flushing can disturb deposits in system and most mechanics I know don’t recommend it, especially on a high mileage car.

The atf+4 is a semi synthetic oil that is only $8 a litre, so price is too high. Use a tranny shop and get a receipt.

I hate to keep saying this, but stop throwing parts at it.  It’s costing you big $$. Get it to the dealer, get it checked, and go from there.  Did the dealer let you drive it out of there in limp mode without telling you what was wrong?  Get on the phone with FCA and the dealer owner/general manager and calmly explain what is going on.  There is no way they should have let you leave without giving you a diagnosis of why it is in limp mode. If they did and you left anyway, that’s on you. If they just handed you the keys and showed you the door, it’s on them.

I understand you have $ issues right now, so either let it sit until you can afford the dealer, look it over, or have someone you trust look for disconnected, loose, broken wires etc.  Not too many other options....wish the fix was simple....?

Mechanic said it was the computer. I had Dodge ordered the computer ($500) and had Dodge install and program it today. ($469) The mechanic at Dodge said it needed a new battery too. I got that. He installed and went to start it and black smoke filled the garage and it started and was running. But was running in limp home mode. Absolutely no power and the lightening bolt thingy flashing again. It stalled and wouldn't start 4 miles down the road. After paying Dodge and towing it around all day, I'm broke

Dodge dealer diagnosed the problem and did the work, to fix the issue they found ( they scanned for codes then,) It stopped working after you left their shop. Speak to that shop manager or call the customer complaint line for Dodge...someone here must also know that number for you. You paid for professionals to diagnose and repair the issue, make them stand by their work, and warranty on that work performed.

Nice clip. Sounds like belt chirp. The gates micro V belt almost looks like it has an extra ply when you hold it against other belts.
Oem factory belts need to last out warranty period, so are a slightly premium product.  Awkward job swapping belts out on the 3.6; I always toss my old surpentine belt in with the spare tire on my vehicles. In an emergency a ratty worn squeaky belt is better than no belt.

I hear ya, our 2012 SXT has treated us well, wife is saying I should look at another vehicle now that we have 125,000 kms (78,00 miles) on her. Other than routine things like brakes, tires, plugs and trans flush the only other things changed were hub bearings, thermostat and heater core. Plenty of road trips to ball tournaments loaded with team gear over the years for sure, those scratches on the bumper plate always make me smile. ( always told the players lift the bags don't just pull LOL ). Our journey has treated us well, its a tough call put new tires on her or, trade her in in the next 3-4 months. Hope your car continues to treat you as well as mine did, thanks for reminding me Armando G.

Well, my journey with my Journey 'payments' comes to an end. Today I made my final payment on my DJ, and it felt great. From not knowing these vehicles whatsoever, to spotting one while shopping for a car 5 years ago, it's been a great decision overall. We're just a touch over 70k and the DJ has been great for the family. Moving away from a minivan and still having the third row option at this price point was a big reason I went with this car. Five years later the kids (4) are almost all driving their own cars and not joining us in our long trips as much. The last time I used that third row was over a year ago, but I still see all the kids in the rearview mirror every once in a while.

Anyway, other than a warranty trannie issue this thing has been great. Regular maintenance and tires have been the only expense and it is still running strong. I ponder getting another car (Jeep, Durango, or Colorado) every once in a while, but I still enjoy driving my DJ. I've enjoyed this forum and can't believe I've been on here for 5 years.

Here's to another 5 years - with no issues!!!
