  1. The only difference between a dodge journey and a freemont is the engine and the suspensions, everything else is the same, so the accessories should fit just fine.
  2. No need to remove anything: just open the glove box, pull the tabs on the sides so that you can open it some more, remove the mat of the compartment under the display, push the cables in one of the holes (preferably the rightmost one) and pull them from the side (from the opening of the glove box you can almost reach the hole).
  3. Maybe 25 years ago it didn't know, but now it does, since there are at least three sensors telling it. One in the middle of the dash and two in the mirror. And 25 years ago not many cars had tft displays, so turning on the dash lights during the day didn't really worsen its visibility. You cannot say the same about the backlight in our screens.
  4. You'll have to change the radio and add the gps antenna. I don't know the price, there is a special kit to upgrade the 4.3 to an 8.4 with nav for $1799, and it includes the bezel, the screen and the radio. You don't need neither the screen nor the bezel, so your price should be lower, but maybe it isn't.
  5. Because they're issues that can be easily fixed if it wasn't for moronic decisions, and I have to keep the car for 4 and a half years more. Besides, if you don't like that I complain about obvious faults, just skips my posts. Lots of others posts out there. @RickyCheung, yes, it's a company car but it's not "free": I have to work hard to gain the privilege of a company car.
  6. And it shouldn't happen, however this car has been designed by morons. The display dimming should only depend on ambient light, not on the headlights on or off. There are many sensors in the car they could have used to control dimming (one in the middle of the dashboard and two in the mirror, @Psyke I think the front one is used as a reference point for the mirror to know when it's just day or there's a car behind with the lights on) and if they aren't enough, they could have mounted a $0.02 sensor just below the screen. Morons.

    Dimmer Control

No, it's not to switch between high and low beam, but to adjust the height of both beams: with a fully loaded car and much weight on the rear, the beam will rise. You can use the dial to adjust the height of the beam.
  8. If you refer to the piece on the floor just pull it (with care, you could break it), if not, I don't know.

    Dimmer Control

In the Fiat version the second dimmer is for adjusting the headlights beam height.
  10. A specialized P.O.S. is still a P.O.S. Avoid the hassle and use a decent Linux distro. There's a livecd with Gparted, so you don't even need to install it. But then you'll probably run into another problem: not enough power from the usb port (or maybe not, with no specifications is difficult to say).
  11. I don't really care that the limit is 255 songs per folder as long as it is documented (which it isn't), but if they cannot make the browse function work, they should not advertise it. True, it's not a full computer, so it shouldn't cost ten times as much. Edit: the first time I prepared a memory stick for the car, I used streamripper to record from an Internet jazz radio, and just tossed everything under the same folder (thinking that I could then browse by artist or song name, not album since that part of the metadata isn't broadcast), now I know better, but knowing it before hand would have saved me a lot of time and trouble.
  12. In the 4.3 (don't know about the 8.4) the limit of 255 songs is per folder, I currently have more than 1000 songs but they have to be put in various folders. Just like Psyke the only way of browsing is via folders, by artist and by song name I can only see a small amount of the artists/songs I have on the memory stick. Oh, and handful of them give an error and don't play, while some of them show 3/4 time the actual duration of the song. And FIAT says there's no update in sight.....
  13. Mine does the opposite (i.e. it creaks when nobody is sitting there).
  14. No such option on the freemont. Only engine temperature and hours of use.
  15. Wait, are you saying that they put a sensor for the windshield wiper fluid but not for the oil level? Let me check, it's 2012, not 1963, you're joking, right?
  16. The diesel ones the fiat freemont, (european version of the journey) is sold with. They are made by fiat, not chrysler, but it's not the only manufacturer doing this.
  17. Oh, sorry, I didn't know this forum is only for praising. OK, this car is perfect, I love rust and I hope you also get a lot since you like it so much. Better now?
  18. Well, I care because I'm the one using the car and it has to last 5 years, as trouble free as possible. Anyway, I don't understand how you can find normal that a new car has rust on the inside and on the outside. That's totally unacceptable here.
  19. I see, I just googled "Evic easter egg" and "evic hidden menus" and wasn't as successful as you (I only found the music and compass combination and the challenger one).
  20. But they do it themselves. The Fiat Freemont is available with a 140HP engine and a 170HP one. In fact it's the same engine with different programming.
  21. Hey, that's very useful, thank you. Any other easter egg/hidden menu? Edit: out of curiosity, how did you discover it?
  22. I read that the challenger has an hidden evic menu that you can access by pressing the up key 10 seconds then the down key until the menu appears. I tried this combination on my freemont (as well as many other) and nothing happens. Does anybody know if is there an hidden evic menu on the 2011/2012 journeys and how to access it?
  23. Then it must have been really bad before. With my FIAT I have software problems for which they say they have no solution in sight and rusty pieces.
  24. I found the fuse box, I was looking behind the door but it's actually below, on the right side. Not the most convenient position but that's how it is. In the manual there's a list of the fuses, some are for options that I don't have installed and a couple are marked as "reserved", I'll see if one of those has power.
