  2. As soon as you cross cables and try to jump the damage is sometimes hidden blown fusible links and also the TIPM could have taken a hit Seems like jumper cables do more harm than good in modern vehicles....good luck
  3. Did you use OEM sensors? Most of the sensors in the Journey are hall effect and no OEM could give you headaches.
  4. I have a 2013 Dodge Journey with the 2.4 l and the heater hose burst and it ran hot and blew a head gasket so I replaced the head gasket rebuilt the head all new camshaft sensors crankshaft sensors VVT solenoid controllers all new and the motor runs absolutely perfect until it reaches 200° and then it starts throwing a p0365, p0344, p0016, codes and they only come back when the motor reaches full running temperature all sensors ohm out perfect all electrical plugs have the correct voltage and I am at a loss please help
  5. Hi all, I have been working a problem on my niece's 2012 Journey and I am at a loss. The problem, I found, is not unique to the Journey but it shows up in many Dodge/Jeep vehicles of that era. The 4.3 touch screen is out and the heater system doesn't work (a few moments after starting the car the heater goes into high heat/fan mode). None of the heater control buttons work except for the 4-way flashers. The car was having battery issues and was jumped multiple times. On one jump (from a standalone battery jump starter) I had the negative / positive terminals mixed up. There was a little smoke coming from where I put the 'positive' to a metal piece that I was intending to ground and then quickly disconnected it. We don't actually know exactly when it started. After one of the jumps or after the booster mix-up. I found lots of information on this forum and elsewhere. Here is what I have done: - Disconnect battery for over a day - checked fuses, found none blown - checked for any ODB2 codes but nothing - tried to reset the radio - no work - tried the cd ejection thing - no work - I tested the power and ground (attached image) going into the main radio unit and they both were good. ALTHOUGH the power read hot even with car off which puzzled me but perhaps it's for the emergency flashers that run through the console. I'm not sure how the ignition turns on/off the radio then? - Finally I found a 2011 Journey at a local junk yard. I tried swapping the display with no result. I tried swapping the main radio with no result. I tried the console with the buttons and even tried the heater control module. Nothing. Then I swapped all of them together and still nothing. So, unless the system from the junkyard is also bad (unlikely but possible) the problem is elsewhere in the car. It would be wonderful if anyone has any suggestions on what else I could check or look for. Signed, Uncle Out of Options p.s. It will ultimately go to a shop but trying to see what they could check that I can't as $ is an issue as she's just starting out in life.
  6. So I ran over a huge rock and it pushed in the metal under my 2018 dodge journey that is part of my in floor storage behind the drivers seat. The plug came out and it's bad. How do I fix this? Can I replace the metal ? How much? Where do I find the part? Can I do something myself to get huge dents out and seal the hole?
  7. I'd go with those "cleaner" fish for fish tanks, they'll keep the insides of the lamp units nice and clean!
  8. I'll have to give that a try, if it doesn't work, gold fish time.
  9. It’s a vent, stick a piece of wire in tube and make sure it’s clear to inside of housing. Vents the condensation. Or drill a few more holes close to top of housing at the back, so water not forced in. Or add gold fish to housing and call it a day.
  10. Last week
  11. I had to call roadside assistance who sold me a new key that they said they had programmed. Took them and age and I could see they looked a bit confused. $400 and 2 days later the car would say “key not detected” but start after one or two tries. I unfortunately lost the new key, but the old one that they condemned worked again!!! Now 6 months later it’s saying the same thing. Key not detected. I changed the battery, tried all the things on Google and it still won’t start. What is the solution!!!!???
  12. Thanks for you post. I did notice this rubber tube. One of the lights on my Journey has this condensation. For the tubing, how do you clear out the tubing?
  13. They supplied the bezel to fit the new screen . It a 9” versus 8.4 “ and shape looks a little different. How large is the canbus box that came with this unit. There was no factory back up cam and it was added by the canbus box configuration? So new wiring to tail gate was also added for this purpose? Thx.
  14. Well.. To close out this "story". $950 total bill Was a funky exhaust cam sensor causing the CEL that delayed return of the car. I guess it didn't like getting "jostled" from the work done. Besides needing tires , now that I've been able to DRIVE this RT{remember it's the WIFE'S} I've got some more work to do on this car for braking and possible also RR wheel bearing. She will be driving the'14 for a while while I do more checking out on the '13RT between the rainy weather days.
  15. I had no codes prior to start of this, injectors cause erratic fuel mixture causing my PCM to fry it self and fried my new throttle body so new PCM and new new throttle body and I'm golden now haven't had any issues since Monday when I had those done
  16. Ya I've been around just working and relaxing. Nothing new with cars. Just enjoying them for now.
  17. I would have to go out and measure, but I think the Lucerne of mine is not much shorter than your "CADDY"! I spent the winter driving the '14 and had almost forgotten how nice the ride is in the Lucerne, it's NOT the air ride "special" with the 4.9 v8 but has the rear load leveling air shocks. Ride is great in the Lucerne, but not meant for utility purposes without hooking up my trailer to it and then a royal pain maneuvering as the combo is sooo long! The wife's rt with hitch is so much nicer for using the trailer! So YES an adequate size garage with high enough ceiling{12-14' high} for a surface mount 2 post hoist is MY DREAM. I've lost out on a low rise and 2 2 post hoists because no enclosed area for them over the last few years!!!!!! Great hearing from you, been a while!
  18. When we decided to move to Texas now almost 2 years ago I said my ONLY requirement is a 2 car garage, doesn't have to be huge but big enough I can park the caddy and 1 other. The caddy is 18.5 feet so needless to say it fits snug in my garage. Not allotment of room for error when parking it. That said the garage is mine so the dodge and caddy park inside the garage. Luckily the wife agrees since have too much invested in them.
  19. Not saying you should but.... 20" tires are usually easier and cheaper compared to 19" tires. At least what from what I have found. Might be a good way to get the misses on-board with some new wheels lol
  20. I'm waiting for another customer of my friend's shop who has a set of 4 almost new tires for 19" DJ's that he is trying to sell .Both my friend and I talked to that person today and said we want to see them first BEFORE talking price. I did tell him I could get NEW {as was posted to me on this thread}at $110. each. He is going to try and get them to my friend's shop ASAP.
  21. I got the same error code. It would come and go. I tried replacing the intake manifold tuning valve. Problem went away for a few days. bought a (used) intake manifold (they don't manufacture them any longer for 09 SXT). Problem came back. What finally fixed it was replacing one of the injectors. I had the Dodge dealer do the last 2 fixes - thought they should understand their product better than the masses online. What I do NOT understand is why they didn't offer to replace all injectors while they had it apart. Now, if/when it happens again, I'll start with the injectors.
  22. i use discount tire for yrs ,i just seen where they bought out tire rack or at least that is what they are saying, i use to order on line when they didnt have a store in our state and that way i didnt have to pay sales tax and also you need to wait for a holiday as they always run great sales during the holidays and then id take them to our local Walmart to have them mounted and if you buy their tire warranties they are great to work with and they replace them with no argument, my grandsons is really rough on his tires with chuck holes and they have replaced 3 different tires ( MICHELIN )for free and all you do is pay for the new tires warranty which is around 20-30 depending on how expensive the tire is
  23. Black OVAL shaped connector with different color top end {where 2 wire ends would go}? That's the connector for remote start hood safety switch. Most all DJ's have that in the main harness, but if not equipped with remote start on your FOB, then it just "hangs there. Good luck on the damage repairs!
  24. hey there, I am tripping on your post had to double take that it was not mines because i also have a 2011 dodge journey that also hit a deer and dang near the same damage on the same side. I was super lucky because hitting a deer most usually destroys your car. I also only had basic insurance and ended up doing the repairs myself which came out pretty dang good but I also have that same wire or connecter that is hanging out solo and i have no idea where it goes. I read that you found its home but could you please be a little more specific of where it belongs because Im still lost on trying to find where it goes.
