Ive done alot of research and cant find anyone anywhere who has lifted a Journey. Im hoping that someone on here has. Ive got BIG plans for my ride. This vehicle has no aftermarket support for suspension mods. The typical buyer uses it for what it is. A kid hauler/grocery getter. I had the same thought of lifting mine a bit for bigger tires, but gave up since (like jkeaton said) it would have to be custom. Then I looked into spacers, again for a little bigger tires, but got scared into NOT doing it after reading all the negatives. Figured I would plan on a 4X4 pickup in the near future to play with and leave the family SUV alone. The truck had motor issues so it is now a yard ornament for the time being. The expedition was on 26 inch rims. All the aftermarket stuff came off and stock went back on. My son who is 9 years old was in the garage one day and asked me would those rims fit my journey I told him they were way too big for that little truck. Well he Peak my interest so I researched to see if headed ever been done. If it has I cannot find it anywhere. The largest will I have seen is a 24in rim. So I tell my son that 24s or the biggest that would go on that vehicle. His response. So if you put them on your truck you'd be the first person in the world? I said I guess so. And he says then we should do it. I'm not a quitter never have been never will be. I'm going to find a way to put them on there and I don't care if I drive one mile with On it. I understand that not everybody is into big rims. I respect that. I am a car guy, i love cars in general. I like stock just as much as custom. What i like the most is being different. I may not like huge spoilers or smoothie wheels but when i some one with either. I compliment them on there ride. Just for the simple fact that its different. Idk if you have kids or not, but I myself didnt just go out and buy a damm Dodge Journey to "donk" it as you said. Idk if your a car guy yourself or not. Im from South Alabama a.k.a "The Dirty South" to me the definition of a "donk" is a 70s model car that has been lifted with big rims and thumis movement was created in South Florida. Either way. Telling someone not to do something that they like is not something i do. My son likes it number 1 and number 2 it is 100% different and not seen every day, an attention grabber. My thoughts, opinion and personal preference may be different and maybe stupid to you. But idc. In my eyes you comment showed me that you are a hater, and haters motivate me. Dont do it you say? I respect that you think it looks ridiculous. Thats why we live in America so we can have the right to agree to disagree... Im just trying to teach my son that just because, you have never seen something done, or just because some people say it cant be done does not mean that you cant atleast try. In his mind it would be "the only one in the world" to me this is way more than just putting rims on a truck. Its a life lesson and a father son project of eppic proportion in his eyes. Again i apologize if you think i was being a dick head. I looked at you as a dream killer. Lmao....I have seen this video and tried to contact this individual to verify they are 26s. zjrog Posted September 20, 2017 Report Share Posted September 20, 2017 Personally, I would like an extra inch to inch and a half. But, I am a Jeep guy as well. I would begin looking for essentially cutting board material as it is a very stable high density plastic that is not terribly expensive. Or maybe even Delrin. An inch won't significantly alter drive axle angles, more than that, you will put a bit more stress on the CV joints in the axle shafts. And start messing with alignment geometry that might be beyond normal adjustment parameters. One could go more extreme and use larger strut spacers and drop brackets for the control arms, but again, you will have issues with drive axle angles unless you lower the engine and transmission a bit. Still more headaches if you want to do all that. The original poster was discussing doing this to the FWD. I did that wih my old Caravan , spacers at the top of the strut, but I modified the engine mounts to rotate the engine a bit towards the back to keep from lowering the engine, but lowering the drive axles. But that also moved them rearward about an inch so they were not straight anyway. No, I have no pictures of that period of time. An inch shouldn't be difficult, and I might just look into it.
