P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

New to this forum and I took a browse through some of the threads to see if I could find the same issue I'm having. Saw a few posts but wondered if anyone with this same issue has found a resolution to the issue? I have a 2011 Dodge Journey SE 2.4 litre engine. Runs great but 2 days ago my engine light came on just after I started it. I let it sit and run for about 2 minutes before I backed out of my spot at work and that is when the light came on. I thought perhaps it was because I hadn't let it warm up longer like I normally do (our temps dropped here in Alberta) but had my son run a diagnostic on it when I got home. He has the reader to plug in and find out the error code. We found it was the P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire error and cleared the code. I have it plugged in when it sits for any length of time just to make it easier to start and the next morning it started great and no error code so I thought it was done but after work, I started it up, let it run and again the engine light came on. It was a rough start up and I watched my rpm needle and it sort of sputtered, then picked up the rpm and settled to just over 1000 rpm. I looked up the code for possible symptoms and see spark plugs, cold start as well as a few other things that could be the reason for the error. I'm going to try changing the plugs although I'm still within the mileage for the ones that are in it. I have 94,000kms on it. Anyone out there have the same issue and if so, what was the final result if fixing it? I never had an issue with it until we got this cold snap so I have to wonder if it might be "cold start" related. Thanks for any info you all may have.
