2015 Dodge Journey Crossroads

Recommended Posts

Well, I just went over 7K miles on my Crossroads, and everything was going great! Very good gas mileage (23.4 mpg in city), great ride. On my way home, the navigation went out. It still has power, but cannot see maps, or streets, or anything! Will be heading to the Dodge dealership tomorrow..

You know, they made a whole lot of Journeys, Chargers 300s and Darts over the past 5 years. A not insignificant number of them had navigation and they all use the same hardware.

You only hear about the ones with trouble . : . I suspect the failure percentage is quite small. We just hear about the failures because no one joins a board to tell people thar his hardware is working as advertised.

I was told by the dealership that for some strange reason the Journeys do have higher navigation issues

I'm also sorry I paid extra for it otherwise it has been a great vehicle at almost 45000 miles

I have the Nav system and it works great, but I too had to have the radio replaced within the first two months. If I had to do it again, I would not order it because it doesn't have lifetime updates, and for the money they charge it should be included. It's the only regret I have, and like Lobitz68, all the other hardware is working fine!

Would like to say that so far my navigation system / radio thingy has functioned properly on my 2015 DJXrd but have only had it a little over four months and with only 1990 miles on it. I/we like it very much as of this point in time of driving and owning.

I added factory nav to my vehicle using a radio I bought on line. So far it works great except that I can't access Travel-Link because (I believe) the vehicle is identified by it's BCM as Canadian. If mine dies at some point I will *try* to somehow get my dealer to pass it under warranty, but if not, then I will do some experimenting in trying to resuscitate it using some techniques I have in mind.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a source of donor units with the 'unable to unlock maps' issue to try out my concepts on, which is a real shame because it would have been nice to be able to make those failed units work again without having to take them in to the dealer, since all they can do is a swap.

7,000 miles on your 2015? I just rolled over 5,000 on my 2014. This is the reason I will never have a radio with Nav.

going on 19k on my 2014 crossroad and have had it 9 months so far, just have to keep the roads hot going to and from the casinos LOL p. s. Ray glad to hear from you every so often....

After going into nav/settings, I reset everything to the default setting, and still no detail in maps, in fact it gave me an error message that detail maps did not load. I'm assuming that this program, for some reason isn't there anymore!

Maps not loading will not be affected by resetting the nav. FCA's solution is a radio replacement.

I have some ideas, but need to test them out before commenting - for that I need access to someone's vehicle that has the problem, is still under warranty and is local to me.

I'm just north of 23k miles on my 2014... Damn hockey practice/games require a lot of driving.

Can't you just skate to practice?

Not lately! Too damn warm. (did I really just say that?)

He needs to rest up between rinks - after all it's probably "old timer" league lol.

Ha! My hockey is all at the same place... Old Timers need consistency! It's the damn kid. Gotta drive that little brat all over the damn place!

  • 3 weeks later...

I took my Journey Crossroads to the dealership this morning, and they tried to reset the navigation. Being an X-electronics engineer from Chrysler, I knew there was a way to reset the radio/nav to factory default. One way is a hard reset - disconnect the battery, and wait about 10 minutes. Didn't work! Second way is by using the cold/hot buttons on the unit. Hold for 5 secs, and a menu comes up on the screen, reset to factory default. Caution here, you can screw up everything. You can catch it on you-tube. Just go to video under "Dodge Journey Navigation reset". Anyway I took it to the dealership, and my radio/nav unit has to be replaced. They ordered me one, and said they would call me. Anyone know how long this will take, because the service rep couldn't tell me.
