Radio Sound Problem

There was a update for this problem - ask a local dealer to look it up and see if the fix was applied to your vehicle.

If it was fixed wouldn't the problem not be happening anymore..? I'm confused because uconnect says it's updated but it's still happening

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

· **When the ignition is first turned on, the audio volume is very high.**

· **CD audio glitch and/or audio drop out for 0.2 seconds.**

· No display and no audio on radio.

· The driver's heated seat soft key is grayed out on the radio display.

· CD skips repeatedly while playing.

· CD jumps tracks after cranking the engine, turning the radio off and then on, and/or

after depressing the stop and then play soft key.

· In USB playback mode a blank screen, or the last displayed screen, is displayed

when the ABC soft key is pressed.

· An iPod Nano connected in USB mode may fail to play and/or the Pause and Play

keys are reversed on the radio display.

· Multiple instances of the same Sirius Game Zone entry may be displayed.

· Intermittently, the back-up chime sounds continuously once vehicle is put into

forward gear, instead of shutting off.

DIAGNOSIS:

If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other

customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

This is the service bulletin that needs to be installed. Or to check to see if it has been installed. It needs to be done by a Dodge dealer, it does not matter who you bought it from. It is not a Uconnect update.  You need to call any Dodge dealer Service Department, give them your Vin # so they can look to see if that update has been done, give the bulletin number to look for.  If they have no record of it being installed, then an appointment can be made to have it done. Since there is probably no manufacture warranty left, ask them how much it will cost to get the update, so you'll know ahead.  Unless you have purchased an extended Warranty than that may apply.

I have a '12 w/all aftermarket audio/amps and I always thought it was something the installer did wrong but now I feel a little better knowing it's a Dodge problem, when my does this it is VERY loud and I've noticed it seems to do it more if the battery is low for example if it's left on ACC to listen to radio or any lights left on and then started it comes on full blast. 

 

The UConnect website says there are 2 updates I can install, are these different than what Dodge installs?

 

Also does anyone else get random hiss/engine whine through the speakers?
