Maybe I shouldn't be here

Recommended Posts

Sorry guys but I may have joined this forum under false pretences!

The finance on the car that I have at the moment, a Skoda, is due to finish in January so we were looking around for a new car for early in the new year. We looked at all kinds of 7 seaters but although some did seem t fit the bill they were all very expensive. Then we saw the Journey and we were very impressed and not only that but the price was very good as well.

From 7th to 30th September here in the UK Dodge were offering 0% interest on finance. That would mean that we could get the Journey now and we didn't need to wait until the Skoda finance was over, so we ordered the SXT with sat nav on 13th September with the assurance that we would take delivery within 2 weeks. A few days later I was told that delivery would only take around 7 to 10 days. To qualify for the 0% we would need to register the new car by 30th September.

You on Monday of this week (27th) we received a phone call to ask us to insure the new car before 30th so that they can register it. I was not happy with that idea because, given the previous assurances, I wanted to know that the dealer had the car before I commit to it. I called back and said that if the Journey arrives before 30th then I will insure it but if not then they can give me the deposit back and we will forget it.

Yesterday (28th) I got a call from another salesman to assure me that the Area Manager had been involved and they will have my new car the next day, today (29th). He also said that he will ring me when it arrives and I can then insure it so that they can register it.

You guessed it, he didn't call today! So either they get the car tomorrow (30th) and I get a call to tell me that or they don't and I don't get a new car!

I do hope that I get to be an active member here because I am a Journey owner but if I don't then good luck with yours.

This is truly disturbing. It sounds to me that your dealer is holding out so that they may benefit from a finance incentive. Hopefully you have a record of the contacts and can refer to them when you negotiate the 0 % when the the vehicle finally arrives. If they are so certain that the vehicle is arriving 'tomorrow' then they will have access to the VIN which you have every right to acquire. Get the VIN and ask them to do a locate on the vehicle. You may be surprised to see where it is. It could very well be in the lot hidden away - or even better still - not even in the country.

Good luck and keep pressing them. Hopefully you may become a legitimate member with a prize in the drive to back it up.

Well, the story goes on!

In answer to your question, yes I do have the 0% deal in writing signed by both parties.

So, first I got a phone call to tell me that they will keep the 0% deal or if I want I can take whatever the new offer is that should be available in the next few days (don't know what that is yet).

Just to explain, I live in Kent in England. That is south of London and at the very bottom of the country (on the map!).

So I got a phone call today to tell me that my Journey had been sent to the wrong dealer and it is now in Scotland!!!! Scotland, by the way is right at the top of the UK (on the map). He told me that it was now being sent down again! They say that it should be here next Tuesday.

AND my first service will be free AND my wife will get a bunch of flowers when we pick the car up.

I have yet to see them deliver but I am not complaining at the moment.

Hi there Discoman, we live in Wandsworth and had to go to Manchester to pick up our DJ, we got the flowers, the chocolates and a big cuddly teddy bear for our 3 yr old, we bought from Sytners and although it was a schlep up north to collect it was worth it, speaking for myself the DJ is a fantastic car, It makes me smile everytime I get into it. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours.

cheers.

Well I have had so many delivery date promises that I have lost track now!

For example there was last Tuesday, when that didn't happen they added a free G3 paint treatment to what they were giving me for nothing.

Then there was last Thursday and when I still hadn't had a call by 4pm I went to the dealer to see what was happening. Apparently the new date for delivery to the dealer was this Monday coming. I wasn't very happy but I left it at that and went home. When I got home The Home Office (otherwise known as my girlfriend) was not happy at all.

It just so happens that I know a guy who owns a vehicle recovery business so I rung them for a price to get it picked up form Bristol. The price was £400 + VAT (Tax). So I rung the dealer and told the manager. To my surprise it had already been decided that they would get it picked up themselves 'whatever the cost'. I know, I know, I didn't believe it either!

Well what do you know, it arrived at the dealer on Friday!!!!! They need to prep it so I am due to pick it up late on Monday. They have also filled it up with diesel.

I still haven't seen it but I will let you know when I do.

GOT IT!!!!

I got a call to say that it would be ready at 17:30 which really messed up my plans because we were going to pick up my daughter at 16:20, pick up the Journey at 16:30, go for a drive and then have a nice dinner out.

So we adjusted our plans and went to get dinner first. Just as we had sat down and ordered the dealer rang and said that it was ready, that was 16:50. So we had the dinner and then went and picked the Journey up. I have done about 20 miles getting to know it and I am very happy.

So I should be here!

WoW -- I wish we had Desiel option in north america. I don't know why there is such a negative view of desiels these days. PErsonally i think it's lobbyists and big gas company consperiencies my self. The only deisels around are vw, and mercedes.. all other manufactures build a deisels for rest of the world, yet they refuse to market and support in north america. The desiels of today are lot cleaner then years of past. and u still need to pass strict emmission laws.

I'd be curious if you could tell us what kind of mileage or L/100 KM you are getting.
