  1. My wife and i just picked up a brand new 2016 black DJ SXT AWD. We opted for the blacktop package and we are just loving our new truck ! It has been a few days and we've barely had the chance to drive it so I'm looking forward to playing around with it more this wknd. Also thank you to all who participate in this community - I have been lurking over the past month and reading your thoughts on the Journey over time really helped me to know we were making a great decision. 2. Hi Everyone - I am so happy to have found this community - thank you all for your contributions !! My wife and I are trying to purchase a 2016 Dodge Journey SXT AWD. The car we like has the blacktop package and Uconnect/bluetooth. The salesperson I have been speaking with does not have the car but he did locate and confirm that he can get it for us. I am trying to determine how you feel about the price he is extending as he is standing firm (over multiple days - he has been OOO every other day so that has helped to stretch things out). MSRP: $32,030 Rebates: $4,000 Dealer Discount: $2,800 Current Dealer Price: $25,230 Tax: $2,176.08 Govt. Fees: $122.50 Doc. Fees: $75 Out the Door Price: $27,603.58 I am having trouble believing that this is the best deal I can get (maybe it is ) because he keeps saying that what he is doing is extending (or matching) the 20% off MSRP that is being promoted for Crossroad models with the promo ending on 10/3. So the first and only price he has given me is $25,230 - can the very first price he proposed really be his best and final - I find that hard to believe.... He is also saying that when he has asked his GM if they can do a little bit better the GM replied with "on a "locate" ?!" Meaning since they have to get the car from another dealership they are not willing to budge on price. He has also admitted to me that the car is at a dealership fairly close by and that the cost is minimal (really just gas and someone's time to get it. Pls let me know your thoughts and if you think there might be anything I can do to gain a bit of leverage. Really appreciate your advice. Also just to provide full info as you look over what I've shared: We are planning to purchase and not lease We do not currently own another Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep We are not trading anything in We will not be financing the car purchase We are serious buyers that are ready to buy this wknd for the right deal Thank you so much - I am very appreciative and after all the great and informative posts here I am very excited to get a Dodge Journey !! Hello all! My soon-to-be wife and I just purchased a 2015 SXT AWD Journey with 18k on the clock this past week. We are Mopar fans - I've had a handful of Neons / SRTs and tend to not shot outside of the FCA limits. She just upgraded from her 2005 Scion to the Journey and she (we) love it! We are 20-somethings with a couple of dogs and growing careers. We like the Journey as it's a step-up for either of us, gets good MPGs, has AWD, 3rd row seats, and we don't have to shift (first automatic car for either of us). That said, so far we have very few complaints and look forward to small accents to make the car "ours." She'd like to upgrade to some bigger OEM wheels and I'd like to get some camping-esque gear (air mattress, hatch tent, etc. . . ). Now my main complaint - the car is always foggy. She has to blast the defroster to give herself a clear side view and windshield. I've read a few other threads where someone had their slushmat leaking and the floor was wet, someone had part of the A/C compressor replaced under warranty, and others are suggesting the heater core but I've fought that smell and replacement and this doesn't seem indicative of that - no smell or residue. The floor is dry. I haven't checked the EVAP drain near the gas pedal yet. . . Any ideas are welcome, otherwise thanks for having us! Back to the intro - we are all about Mopar upgrades and accessories so if there is an untapped market for this car I haven't found yet, I'd love to hear what's available and what are common / good upgrades and mods for these cars. Oh yeah, it appears to be "Brilliant Red" in color Adam & Michelle

  6. I have a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT. New radio installed and recently the battery has enough juice to turn on the interior lights; but, it won't turn over. There are no error codes to report to mechanics. They had it after the first instance and couldn't rplixate the problem. Two days later, it needed another jump still no error codes. 6 days ago I had 2 engine lights: ESP Bas and an icon that looks like a car and tire tracks. Yesterday, the truck wouldn't turn over and pop-a-lock double jumped it to get it running: cables on the connectors via their box and cables on the battery from his battery and it worked! Just dropped off vehicle to mechanic to hopefully recreate the problem. If they hadnt told me to drop it off with a free loaner, I would have paid for a full engine diagnostic tomorrow. Any ideas on what wrong? It only has 68k miles, I bought it a month ago and so I'm a little concerned on how to handle

  9. First set of LEDs came in the mail. Wanted to share with everyone to show how simple it is. First the link to the bulbs on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DHXSSQ/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005DHXSSQ&linkCode=as2&tag=kinsrev0a-20&linkId=QRKRGQDOXEFN4YL7 Next, here is what I received: To install the new bulbs, you will need just a small flat head screw drive and gloves (unless you don't mind hot bulbs on your fingers). If you look at the image of the removed cover, there are two hinges that control the pivot of the map light cover (which also serves as the switch). Use the flat head screwdriver to slowly ease the hinges out. As you can see, they are really delicate. Should pop out easily. Here is the old bulb. My owner's manual says 578s. Looks like 194 to me. Should pull out easily. Add your new bulbs. Activate the switch to make sure it works. If not, switch the polarity by installing the bulb the other way. Viola!
  10. Hi guys . Brand new to the forum and to the DJ . I've had it for a month now and i love it ! Check her out .
  11. Hey all, I own a 2011 Journey SXT with the 3.6L engine. I would like to buy a RV and I have a few questions... The manual says that my maximum towing capacity is 2,000 lbs (without the trailer tow prep package) and up to 3,500 lbs (with the trailer tow prep package)... This is quite of a significant difference.... Page 406/407 -> http://www.autodealertools.com/quickQuote/manuals/2011/Journey.pdf My vehicle already has a hitch with a 4 PIN connector, but i don't know if it has the "Trailer tow prep package"??? Question 1: How do i know if the tow prep pacakge has been installed or not? Question 2: I would require a 7 PINs connector for electric brake. I've heard they are a challenge to get installed... Is it true? Thanks,
  12. My wife has a 2009 SXT AWD that developed an intermittent "whine" soon after we left the used dealership where we bought it. The noise does not change pitch and sounds similar to a reed vibrating at a high frequency. Using a stethoscope I located the noise originating from the top of the transmission where the cooler lines exit. The noise occurs frequently while driving (at least at lower speeds) and also while at a stop, either parked or in gear, but not all the time. The noise does not seem to affect the car's drivability that I can tell, however the noise is incredibly annoying and concerning. I cannot afford to trade it (I tried) so I'm hoping that someone out there might help me narrow in on this problem. The dealer where I took it several months ago speculated a diagnosis of the front transmission pump, however they would not confirm the diagnosis without performing a complete teardown...um ...no. This is my wife's daily driver so I'd like to take care of this soon if I can. Thanks in advance!
  13. Flex Fuel Question

Hi, we just bought a 2013 Dodge Journey SXT yesterday! So, the Journey we bought yesterday was a certified pre-owned vehicle. It only had 18,400 miles on it. It was a rental vehicle, and it has a 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty that started in 12.2012, which means we have about 6 years 4 months left. So it has the 283 HP 3.6L Pentastar V6 that features Flex Fuel that allow it to take Ethanol fuel. Here's my question...I was reading that there is no real standard for this fuel, so the only cons are that the Ethanol fuel might not perform as well as a gas engine and more importantly, certain cars that use Flex Fuel need some sort of Engine lubricant if you do use Ethanol with it. Can anyone tell me if that's true. Do I need to put something special in it to use Ethanol? I really want to use this as I live in SoCal and the gas prices where we live are $3.86 (for lowest normal gas price 87 Octane) vs. $3.25 for Ethanol. Is there anything I should know about using Ethanol over gas? Do I need to use anything at all in order to use this fuel? Can anyone tell me if the performance is affected by using Ethanol and if so, then how much. I would like to see the pros and cons for it. Like I said earlier, the only cons that I read was Ethanol might not perform as well as regular gas and some engines require something special in order to use Ethanol. Thanks in advance!
  14. Well just got back from our first beach trip with the SXT with the 2.4 and have to say I was really surprised at the performance of the engine. Although the 4 speed tranny is some what picky. This can be over ridden with the manual side. Mileage was so so about 24 mpg if I could keep my foot out of it. Plenty of room in the back for a weeks worth of luggage plus beach chairs. easier to pack than the old Grand Cherokee it replaced. Handled well in the many storms we drove through. Every one had their own AC controls which kept everyone comfy. She did well for a four banger. And so glad we got the 8.4 Uconnect.
  15. Here are some new pics of our 2012 DJ SXT V6. Just finished adding the WeatherTech hood deflector and had added the WeatherTech window deflectors just prior to Christmas (front only). Really like the look of the wrap around hood deflector vs. the OEM that stops at the hood line. The window deflectors are awesome - they just snap into place. No double sided tape anywhere. They are an absolute requirement on the DJ due to the way the windshield meets the pillar. When it's raining and you put the wipers on, water just pours into the interior - not anymore :whew: Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics - have any questions, ask away. Previous to the new Hood Deflector...
  16. Hi, we just bought a certified pre-owned 2013 Dodge Journey SXT yesterday. It has a 3.6L 283 HP Pentastar V6 engine along a few extra upgrades like fog lights, dual climate controls, plus rear climate control. I think we did good. It was a rental car with 18,535 miles on it. I know there a few better prices out there with as little as 8,000 miles for about the same price, but nothing remotely close. The other vehicles like that are Texas and North and South Carolina, so I think we got a fair price for it. We love it too! It's soo powerful as well....it's amazing! Can anyone tell me anything that might be useful? I also have a couple questions. It has Halogen lights, and I was hoping for HID lights. Can anyone tell me how difficult it would be to install a Xenon HID light kit and what kit would be suggested? Also, I was wondering if there was anything we can do to lower gas mileage (aside from driving slower)? We noticed it features Flex Fuel and will take Ethanol. I was wondering if there any cons to using Ethanol and if there is any special lubricant that I need to use if I want to use Ethanol? I actually have a specific thread just for the Ethanol question, so you can just post it here if you like.: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/4845-flex-fuel-question/ So, is there an air filter or anything we can install to lower the gas mileage. I know very little about cars too, so keep that in mind. If there are any DIY kits for HID lights and/or air filters or anything else that can be used, I need it to be simple or I need to have someone else do it, if it's not. Also, I don't want anything that would void the warranty. Thanks in advance!
  17. Go Ducks :D

  18. Hello all, We have had our new 2012 DJ SXT for 3 weeks now. Loving it by the way. Would like to ask for some advice and/or input on the following. I have had the hood up a couple of times and am not impressed by the hood support rod. Not sure about other model years but on our 2012 with the Pentastar V6 we have a cheap hood support rod. I want to convert this to strut(s) if possible. Are they available for the DJ? What size strut? One or two? Is there mounting support already there? So far this is the only thing that is bugging me. I have read they may have changed due to wind, price or strut failure - whatever the reason, it sucks. Any part #'s or advice on the correct size of strut to purchase would be very much appreciated. . Thanks in advance, LRD
