  1. Just passed 100,000km in my 2014 R/T. Other than a transmission that was replaced under warranty the journey has been great. Only regular maintenance. The 3.6 has the power for the highway and mountains that I seem to be constantly on and the ride is great.
  2. I've recently seen 2 more post reporting very similar situations, with different years and trim levels. But it makes me wonder if the cooling of the transmission is enough for any load on it, such as big mountain passes or towing within its recommend weight.
  3. Good luck with Your transmission. Being that close to your 100,000km I would really push to see if there are any metal shavings in your transmission fluid and if there is have them drop it and do a full inspection. Your description of your experience sounds way to familiar. PM me if you want more information on my experience. I found Dodge to be great to deal with after they diagnosed the issue.
  4. Would just like to know what the high end of normal is so that I can watch the temperature and continue to drive within the normal temperature range. With the mountain highways I drive and recent hot temperatures in the west the EVIC has read up to 100C for the transmission. That's going up hill with me in only in the JC! And RPMs most of the time about 1750. The engine temperature remains well within normal. I just don't want to do any damage.
  5. And I did find more info on the trans cooler..... http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/6039-does-my-dj-hsve-a-trsns-oil-cooler-11-v6/
  6. The service tech said that I don't have anything to worry about unless it goes over 105C for extended periods. That sounds high to me? I have been watching my trans temps in the EVIC and under load such as going up a hill it will climb to 95C. I was looking at holding on to the DJ for my kids to learn to drive on so I want to keep it in good condition. At what temperatures do we start to see damage to the transmission occurring?
  7. I'm going to start with Dodge was great. But I just had the transmission replaced on my 2014 Dodge Journey R/T @ 56,000km. I do no towing but lots of highway driving in the mountains of the west and the car does great. I was in town driving and the car started to surge at stop lights, then in the middle of the intersection no transmission engagement. Still no check engine light so I managed to nurse it out of the intersection and off to the side of the road. Check engine light then lights up. So I called the dodge 1-800 and had a flatbed there within 30 mins. Yay dodge and they towed me to the dealer that I wanted to go to. Dealer diagnosed with lots of codes, low pressure, metal fragments in pan. They figured it exceeded the 70% damage to rebuild. They ordered a new transmission, gave me a rental car for 5 days but it took 10 days for them to repair it... So now it's an R/T with the towing package (engine oil cooler?) but no transmission cooler? How hot should the transmission run? And thoughts about adding a transmission cooler? Thanks
  8. Hi all, Just hit 50,000km in the 2014 AWD R/T and I have to say 11.5l/100 km in the mountains from a v6, I will take. The AWD is sufficient, if I am out on the road and get stuck I probably shouldn't have been out. The brakes are still at 8/10, so they listened to the brake concerns of the early models, and It's only been in the shop for the scheduled maintenance. I am happy there is enough room for the kids gear, the work stuff, it looks good and it goes when you ask it too! Let's hope the great driving continues.
  9. Thanks everyone! It's a work car and will get lots of mileage quickly any suggestions on preventative maintenance? Or thing to watch out for?
  10. Yes once I place my hand on the mirror or fold it in the whistle stops. It's strange that it did not start untill the film went on. Doing further research several cars start to whistle from the mirror after the film is places on. Aerodynamics of the film?
  11. Hi, I just had an aftermarket paint protection film put on and the car developed a whistle. It seem to be coming from the film on the mirrors? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
  12. Just wanted to say 2 months in and 10,000km and 1 oil change down. I could not be happier! I have been reading the great posts ever since I bought my DJ and I thought I would finally join.
